  1. So I don't think it's any of the above. Not especially cold today, battery definitely isn't low, A/C not on etc. Error Warning was the thing I'd not seen before and gave me concern. Might have to ring the dealer then! Problems after 6 months... let's hope it's not problems!
  2. Hi all Started my car this morning and it made the most appalling noise, as though it wasn't starting properly. A message came up on the display - "Error: Auto Start Stop". I turned the engine and ignition off again and took the key out. Reinserted it - engine sounded fine this time, but the error message persisted. Throughout my journey to work (50 miles) the start-stop system wasn't kicking in. I did another manual restart at some traffic lights half way through my journey to see if it cleared, but it didn't. There have been times where the stop/start hasn't kicked in until very late in a journey, but this has not been accompanied by the error message. Any ideas what could be causing this? I'll see if it occurs again on the way home. My car is a 1.4 TDI 105 (manual). Thanks.
  3. I'll do it after Christmas I'll hit the 7,000/8,000 point in the new year. I've had a better week this week... Oddly, with cheaper (Sainsbury's) fuel. I'll see what I'm on when I fill up.
  4. Claimed = the figures that Skoda publish. I'm well aware of how said figures are achieved and how manufacturers test this. But as I've said a few times, I've owned cars that have easily achieved the published figures. So i think some disappointment is justified.Any more TDI drivers out there with ranges to compare?
  5. Defo get onto Spotify about this. They should be sorting these sorts of bugs by now. Android Auto will only get more popular; they need to be on the ball with this.
  6. I tend to do the same, although I think I was somewhat spoilt by my last car in this sense. I didn't even have to try - whereas with the Fabia it seems as though real effort is required to get near the claimed figures. I'll see what I'm on at the end of the week...
  7. Thanks for the responses so far. It seems as though they are some way off claimed figures. I know someone's gonna pipe up and say "who takes any notice of claimed figures?" but the point is that my previous car (and most French diesels I've driven) have managed to match or come extremely close to the claimed figures - within 5mpg certainly. I'll keep an eye on it...
  8. It varies between 43 and 45 litres. Today it was 43.19 litres, with the vehicle telling me I had less than 5 miles left before needing to refuel. As stated from my original post, I'm keen to hear how many miles other TDI drivers (90 or 105) are getting from a tank.
  9. Identical. My DS3 was 45L too. Supposed range online is upwards of 680 miles. Trip computer is insisting that I'm averaging around 62mpg since I've had the car. Again, the DS3 was pretty accurate with its readouts. Going to do a comparison with the Roadtrip app to see how it stacks up compared to Fabia'a claims. But it's not looking good. Also I know it's cold at the moment but the car definitely gets warmed up on my 100 daily round trip commute. DS3 never dipped this low.
  10. Can I check if anyone has experienced similar high pitched noises on their 1.4 TDI? (Either power output). I have a noticeable high pitched whirring noise travelling at low speeds; it seems to match the engine'a behaviour and goes on a downward pitch when slowing down for a roundabout, for example... it's not quite a beeping like in the OP's video but it's of similarly high pitch.
  11. Keen to see what sort of range people are getting from their Fabia Mk3 TDIs. 3 months in and I'm a bit underwhelmed by mine. Mine is a TDI 105 and I do mostly motorway miles, roughly 500 per week - I'm getting *just* over that on a tank before I need to fill up again. This is about 100-150 miles less than my previous car. I haven't changed my driving style - which is generally very eco-minded anyway. Keen to hear what others are getting. Cheers!
  12. I've certainly noticed that on full power, the fan on my Fabia is a LOT quieter than my previous car. Would be interested to know if RainX makes a difference. Any RainX (or similar) users recommend it for the outside of the screen?
  13. I'm the same. Down here around Merseyside, pretty much anything with an Arnold Clark sticker on the back has an 'S_' prefix. I guess because they're all registered from AC's HQ perhaps...
  14. You can still do it to a degree, I guess, but cars also travel around the country a lot more now simply to get sold. My previous car (a DS3) was registered with a D prefix, but at the end of its PCP, got taken to somewhere in the Midlands for its auction - so who knows where it is now. It is less interesting now, though... Definitely agree on that front.
  15. For my commute, I'm mainly just using Bluetooth and my phone in a mount with Waze, primarily because I find Apple Maps so awful (and unreliable). I've had the issue where the map has just frozen for no reason. Bluetooth audio & nav from my phone means I can see what's being played on the central screen, and see my map on my phone's screen. Seems much more reliable. A shame given all the hype around CarPlay and Android Auto...
  16. I believe D is linked to 'Deva' as Chester was known in its early days as a Roman settlement. Officially it's down as 'Deeside' which is nearby to Chester but I'm fairly sure it's the reference to 'Deva'. Mine's a D. They definitely aren't lease vehicles - all of my cars post 2001 have had a D identifier and none of them have been leased.
  17. Yes and Google Maps will be far better than Apple Maps (I'm also seriously considering going Android because of the map apps available... Apple seem intent on not allowing them into CarPlay). I think the only additional thing you'd need on an android phone is to download the dedicated CarPlay app, which is required ????
  18. Only problem with the clear ones is that they can end up looking grubby around the edges. Guess this would be especially obvious on white...
  19. I find it seems to sometimes depend on the order in which you turn on the ignition, radio, and switching to 'media' etc. I have it connected to Bluetooth as well - then at least you're covered either way.
  20. Badges on. I don't understand the fascination with removing them, unless they're littered across the tailgate with trim levels and engine sizes detailed. Just my thoughts ????
  21. That'll be it. So looks like there's been a change with this for post July 2016 cars.
  22. Yes I know that, the point I'm making is that the auto wipers should be that - auto. I shouldn't have to resort to the different speeds on the stalk.
  23. Had the first bit of properly heavy rain today since I've had the car... they were definitely functioning according to the rainfall but being a bit slow on the uptake, it has to be said. Wipers on my DS3 were quicker to act and sometimes 'over cleared' but I'm thinking that was probably ten best way to be ????
