  1. I need mudflaps for my vrs estate. I have read most of the mudflap threads on the site and have not found what i want! Options - 1) OEM flaps - these seem to offer very little protection 2) Rallyflaps - good protection but are excessive! Is there anything in between? Anything on other VAG cars that may suit? Thanks
  2. -1 degree 50 is too much. Mine is currently at that and the outside of the tread isnt even touching the ground the updated camber is -1 degree 15 plus or minus 5 on the VRS For the normal models it is -0 dgrees 50 plus or minus 10
  3. found a few threads on rear bumper removal, will see how that goes
  4. thanks Tech1e Is it hard to remove the rear bumper? Yes, I just let the rose rain down on the car for 10mins, and water poured in. What could cause the water to fill in to the level of the holes seen in the the second picture?
  5. Trying to iron out a few things on my new yoke. Went to fit some soundproofing in the boot of my 08 VRS estate and noticed the spare wheel well had a lot of water in it. The rear windscreen washer is working well and there is no leaking from its pipe. Put the hose onto the car and water quickly found its way to the wheel well. I isolated some sources of water. Water came from behind this plastic plug in the wheel well which is shown below. What is this plug for? Should I put some silicone around it to seal it? Then water started to pour out of these holes shown below. Any ideas where that water could be coming from? Lastly there was a small amount of water leaking from around this vent. Would it be ok to remove the vent and seal up the hole? Thanks in advance
  6. Good job, that's what i wanted to hear, hope to get the rear camber set to about 1 degree 10
  7. Is it easy to alter the rear camber in an 08 VRS? ie is it an adjustment or are new parts needed? Struggling to find a place that will do it in Northern Ireland
  8. those are the studs that came with the car. The studs supplied with the mats are identical to those pictured, ie they do not correctly fit the mats! In every other car that has studs the mats click into the studs
  9. Which brand of engine oil is best for an 08 Petrol VRS? Obviously within the recommended viscosity.
  10. It's a bit weird that they just set in to the stud but it appears to be that that is normal! anybody have click in ones?
  11. My local dealer said that skoda no longer made rubber mats for my 08 octavia, so I ordered some "genuine" ones online. Other mats that I have had for other cars all clip into the studs in the carpet, but not these. My new rubber mats do not clip into the studs, they just set in and subsequently fall out. I have a slight suspicion that they are not manufactured right. Any ideas? Stud in floor: Underside of mat which stud normally would click in to:
  12. Thanks blackmagic for the heads up, i bought the car at DM Keith in the end. Happy so far, just need to get the rear camber sorted out. Does the value of -1.20 stand for the 08 model as well as the facelifted model? thanks
  13. Should i be able to get the geometry revised under warranty on my car which has a 1 year skoda used warranty? the car is just over 3 years old.
  14. Thanks blackmagic, i had seen it, just slightly out of my budget. did you view the car? in good nick? ideally i would like 17 inch wheels for our roads!
  15. Between 6 and 10k, at the higher range of that it would have to be a mighty convincing car!
  16. Can the inner tyre wear problem be sorted when the correct geometry is found? There must be independent guys that can sort this
  17. Let us know how you get on. Hoping i should be ok with the one i buy, circa 06-08
  18. That gives hope! thanks What is the verdict on inner rear tyre wear? Do all VRS models have it or is it just mainly a problem with the 2009 facelift onwards models? It is making me hesitant about the car, it's not right forking out £100's for tyres that are wearing quickly.
  19. Hi MPM, yes yours was the only example i found of a converted TFSI and it didn't fill me with confidence. Sadly my budget won't stretch to a new shape TSI
  20. I hope this isn't too off topic for Irish meets As the title says, anybody know of any octavia vrs estates in petrol 06-08 for sale in northern ireland? Are there even any about? I haven't seen any advertised or on the road
  21. Yea, I'm in Northern Ireland, although I will have go to the mainland UK to buy as almost all cars here are diesel. Not quite sure the logic as our country is only 70 miles x 70 miles!
  22. Is the issue of rear tyre wear a probem in all VRS estates or just the facelifted ones?
  23. Don't like the sound of that! Import would not be good i'd guess. Likely explains why it's pretty cheap :(
