  1. Well thats a pleasant surprise, the Kona has come out top and its cousin car has come second. Maybe it will improve the secondhand value of mine https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/best-cars/driver-power/95238/best-cars-to-own-driver-power-results
  2. Looking good Now if Merc get Russel into one of these..... https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/motorsport-news-f1/f1-reveals-new-2022-car-focus-improving-racing
  3. I'm currently riding an e-bike to and from work as parking on site would be £22 and public transport to and from is very difficult. I didn't think I would ever ride a bike again after several knee injuries (I still have 4 bikes at home, as I can't bare to part with them ). The bike weighs over 25kg and I carry a further 10kg of stuff in my panniers, sometimes even more. The bike is a Trek Powerfly 4 and is a bit of a dog to get past 15.5mph on the flat. The weight, massive off-road knobblies and what feels a bit like motor drag, make it very hard work, as does the lack of higher gears for quick road work. I have one big hill on my journey and although I get my pulse and breathing up substantially on the climb, there is no way I could get that bike and load up the hill without the assistance, my knees would not thank me at all (yes I do spin rather than grind). Being an ex-roadie, I find the road speed very limiting, but off-road, the motor is a beast. 85nm of torques things (abut the same as the Mini 1275 GT) is astonishing, as is a rumoured peak power of well over 500W (Bosch apparently underrate their motors). Sadly, the bike tyres are too wide to fit in a regular bike rack! So I need to find a tree or some such, to lash it too. More appropriate tyres will be fitted at some point. The range is reasonable considering the route I take and the 'intelligent' eMTB mode is still working out my average range as it takes a while to settle in. I do find getting my 'leg over' quite a task, especially on the hill I have to mount the bike on. It's very tall and with the giant Ortlieb panniers it's a good workout for you hip socket. Surprisingly, not being clipped in hasn't been the problem it normally was for me. Maybe it's the motor assist that helps me and stops me trying to pull up with my non power stroke leg? Also I intend to cut the bars down a bit, as they are too wide for general use and prevent the bike getting through countless gaps. Plus I can't lift the bike when fully loaded, at least not in any meaningful way. I have looked at chip tuning, just to get a small lift to maybe 20mph on 'non-public' roads of course, but Bosch have anti-tuning software that causes a lot of problems for those that fit them. You have to do a 90 minute penalty ride with no power to reset the most common fault code this causes and after 3 strikes, you have to have a factory reset at your dealers. Many users claim to have bricked their motors!
  4. I read on the BBC site that Hamilton did a poor final lap before entering the pits due to tyre wear, he then had a slightly slower trip through the pits than Verstappen (even though his actual stop was quicker) and Verstappen did a stellar out lap. Altogether it transpired to put Verstappen in front.
  5. You'd hate a new RS6. How would you fill all that spare time you would have?
  6. It looks like Kay Burley having a bad hair day
  7. You just knew curiosity would get the better of me didn't you! The only good thing about it, is it is apparently endangered. It certainly would be if it came around here!!!!
  8. I'm not a fan of creepy crawlies. Rob used to post photos of Wetas. This ginormous killer attack beetle monster thing. Made my blood run cold. Look them up, they rule New Zealand under a cloud of terror
  9. I think it's a bit harsh to say the Producer (more likely an Editor would make any production calls) is to blame for the time it took Lance to move, or the length of the shot. Don't forget that F1s host broadcaster will almost certainly have live and up-to-date info, which may well include radio talkback from lanes car or pits.
  10. Well that had a few surprises. Not least Mr Hamilton apparently having accidentally knocked his "Magic" button and setting the 'warming up the brakes' switch to 'ON' just before the restart! Ooops!
  11. "ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" !
  12. They make good money over here those Quattro-y things https://www.classiccarauctions.co.uk/events/2021-auctions/spring-live-online-sale-2021/spring-live-online-auction-2021/cars/1990-audi-quattro-20v
  13. I was working all day so had the GP to watch when I got back in the evening. I already had heard the result, but this normally doesn't dissuade me from a viewing...except as it was Monaco. I just hit delete and went straight to bed. I love the location and the tunnel is always interesting, but the race in the dry leaves me cold with the big F1 cars of today. I enjoy the qualifying and a wet race race there however
  14. I might have a lager with my pie...or perhaps a pot of tea??
  15. It was meant as a joke. At least I hope so
  16. It's sad to think of the great sponsorship liveries like Martini, Rothmans and Gulf, will soon be replaced with the likes of Duracell, Varta and Exide (well perhaps )
  17. Wow! That's some trip. Looks fantastic, as does Rusty. If I was one of the others there I would hate you!!! Reckon you upstaged every car at the meet (well Rusty did ) Btw on your list, I see the first word is Jack. Is that a human being that you are prone to forget, or the mechanical lifting apparatus.
  18. Can I have a chicken and leak pie please? with lots of gravy
  19. Maybe his disparaging remarks about Hamilton and how his 7 world titles should be attributed to his car won't help his cause. Norris comes across as a bit of a kn0b imho. Seems quick though and has the coolest name on the grid (if you discount Mick Schumacher who wins that competition because of his family name)
  20. Does that come with gravy?
  21. Virtual peas and carrots are optional
  22. Are you saying Gasly will push Ocon out? Doesn't speak too well for Ocon if that's the case regardless of whether Gasly can bring big bucks or not. I'll have a virtual wager with you, of a virtual 'pie and chips' (with gravy) that Russell will get the seat over Gasly
  23. I can't really see Max knocking on Toto's door (he probably has a door bell anyway). Russell has been tooling around in an awful car and has showed he can drive, not just in the MB stint he had. Talent shines through no matter what imho and for me, he is a natural fit in the MB team. Also jumping into a car he doesn't know intimately and leading the man who occasionally beats LH in that same machine, showed a bit or promise. Be interesting to see how tied Ocon is to his national team and whether the fact that Toto's farming Russell out to Williams (who of course use MB engines) was his way of biding time for the second seat option at MB to be available
  24. I didn't hear anything said by Mr W, but my thinking is that as his manager and the recent excellent showing in the Merc it's a pretty good start for Russell. Plus he is performing comparatively well in a rather weak Williams. Ocon has a similar successful history to Russell, coming into F1, but he does seem to get involved with a lot of run ins with team mates and others on the track. I doubt the second MB seat is nailed on for any driver (literally or figuratively). If Max knocked on Toto's door and said "let me drive for you next season please", Toto may well invite him in for a cup of tea and a biscuit
