  1. Oh BMW what are you doing, I was just starting to get used to the new M4 look, even liked it a bit, but then I have seen this!! https://www.carscoops.com/2020/09/this-could-be-the-new-bmw-m4-gts-complete-with-unique-center-quad-pipe-layout/
  2. They form a zigbee, or is it ziggystardust? network apparently, what ever that is. The thing that swung me to Hive over Tado etc was it could cope with the 'call for heat' wire being at mains voltage, something that I don't think Nest can do and so it is super easy to install, especially as the switching box fits a standard old school thermostat back plate. Well lets put it this way, I managed to do it and the British Gas chap said I'd done it correctly when he fitted a new pump to my central heating
  3. Apparently there is no max number, but they don't recommend more than 60. I don't think it will be a problem for me You can also add remote thermostatic radiator valves, and cameras if you get carried away
  4. Ooh I don't know how many lights I can connect to Hive. I have 9 so far and one cluster of 3 (it treats them as a single event - it's a ceiling rose light). I've also got 5 motion sensors linked too
  5. I believe Hue now works with Hive, although I have no personal experience of it.
  6. Hate to say it, but I think it's starting to grow on me (it's too big for my needs though, let alone the cost) https://www.carscoops.com/2020/09/bmw-4-series-dark-edition-is-a-special-limited-model-for-the-uae/
  7. I have Hive and found it super easy to fit and set up. I simply removed the old standard fit thermostat and plugged the new 'switching' plate in it's place, as it has the same standardised size and connector fittings (you need a small jumper wire installing as well), plugged the hub into my router and powered up the thermostat. Job done. I now have several hive lights and motion sensors too and they all work pretty seamlessly with remote operation on a phone as well as with a Google pebble thing and the Alexa thingummies (I have both). The Amazon Fire Cube jobbie is very convenient to use with the remote control (using voice commands) and you can alter lights and ask for a specific percentage brightness, turn the heating to a desired temp etc. All in all I'm a big fan. Lots of individual timers set for my lights and temp settings across the week and also many shortcuts on my phone app, so, for example, I can boost the temp, turn all the lights off etc with a simple button press
  8. I loved the daft 1.5 turbo era, adored the n/a V8 era, delighted in the V10 era and worshipped the V12 era. V6!!! They "moo" like electric cows :(
  9. Hypermiling an F1 car Maybe mix it up with lego motor racing cars and my dad in his Honda jazz, after all what's the point of nearly 1,000bhp if you want to drive it like a 1.4 diesel??
  10. Came across this today. The old girl did quite well in these meaningless tests, although it does show the difference between a quick DCT and a slushmatic, as the M4 did really well against the Alfa even though this model had a 70+bhp deficit. Maybe Germans have bigger horses than the Italians? (don't say that to Ferrari). It also shows how tricky it can be to launch a RWD car against a 4x4 like a quattro although in the rolling road test the advantage goes back to the lighter more efficient RWD cars obviously. I've seen plenty of these tests and it's the first time I haven't seen the BMW destroy its tyres while the others have a drag race The Alfa does sound lovely though
  11. I just got cut up by a Škoda. It was definitely a Škoda driven by a really bad man Škoda driver, honest, he was the worst ever and then I got cut up by a Škoda bicycle and she was the worst ever cyclist I've ever seen and then I had a Škoda burger which was horrible as Škoda burgers are the worst. Also I misspelt Skoda as it's just plain crazy and the worst word ever to spell, unlike BMW which is easy Luckily I believe every word said by SHY and know he is always telling the truth, like when he gave his word he was going to join Freedom.....but didn't (not his fault as BMW driver cut him up and put him off) and then he made this big announcement that he would only be posting in two threads, but unfortunate didn't keep to that one either (it was BMW driver who told him to ignore his own postings and so it is not his fault) I am sorry that BMW drivers seem to hate you in particular and can only sympathise for your plight. Perhaps they don't like hyper-milers who try to eek mega miles out of every gallon and so they think they are following octogenarians. Anyhoo as a thread about M4s and not car bigotry, I would like to say that my BMW with its legal, but well worn tyres is epic to drive at the moment. BIG BIG fun. Having done very little driving through lock-down, you get that new car sensation when you get back inside and find out that the control weights, cornering attitude and acceleration are all a bit like a new thing. In fact "this month, I am mainly going to be doing acceleration"
  12. I'm sad because it signals the end of an era really. Last of the garagistes. Also, there aren't many female team principles in high level motorsport, certainly none spring to mind (I don't count Formula-E )
  13. This is a very sad day for F1 fans and Williams fans in general
  14. Just your regular alien man/woman eating insects then
  15. Why don't people post pictures of cuddly baby Kiwis and such like
  16. I think most of us agree with you. But, hey, you know, some people eh Btw I just watched a police show on telly and the first baddie was a Skoda driver who failed to stop, had no insurance and was massively over the limit. Shocking 🙄
  17. It's a weaponised killer insect!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. I think Audi drivers were named the number 1 b3ll3nd by Top Gear and I see no reason to argue. Nearly got taken out by a Skoda in the rain this afternoon, driven at extraordinary speed...true story...honest...
  19. A lot of Brisky folk think Beemer drivers are a pain in the neck anyway, so nothing to lose
  20. Nosferatu Special. I'd buy one for the name alone.
  21. The engine is 90 degrees out of alignment too! 2 series 'Mashie Niblick Coupe' has a ring (don't know how to spell mashie/mashey/mashy niblick/kniclick/niblik )
  22. It's for really tall people who don't mind whiplash I can see traits of his other cars in it. Especially the hexagonal theme. I think he did that on the rear of the beautiful Lamborghini Marzal. Mind you it's not up to his usual lovely design, at least to look at (may have been a brilliant car). As for the next gen M3/4 I have come to quite like the design, but it is ruined by sticking the number plate across the grill. If you are going bold you should at celebrate the fact, not stick a white moustached across it. Also they seem to have dropped the Hofmeister kink
  23. So here's an interesting thing I found. It's a concept BMW designed by Mr Gandini (he might regret this one). What I found of interest was the weird grills. Reminds me of something......
  24. Anyone who chooses to buy a more specialised car does so for a specific reason I reckon. So a 335 driver wants performance (in it's many guises), economy, fun and decent build quality I would think. So a 335 driver on average probably will drive quicker than a base model 3 series owner and not just because of the power difference. Yes there will be aggressive drivers in base models, there always will be, but when I got a 330D equivalent from MB several years ago, I didn't want it to drive like Miss Daisy (I assume she didn't drive very fast, if at all?). I agree with Aspman and would love a car with more power than I already have. It's not looking so likely these days because of the virus effecting my work so expensive cars might be out in the near future and also I'm not getting any younger, but maybe one last hurrah would be nice (maybe a Dax Cobra ). Power does corrupt, that's why I like RWD 🏎️ (that emoji is ridiculously small!)
