  1. BMW M cars quoted power (at least once they adopted turbos) was based on hot external temperatures and reasonable altitude (I can't remember what that was, but pretty sure it was at least 2,000m). The idea being that it was most likely the minimum power the engine would produce. Possibly, it's why it has often been said of these turbo motors, that they produce bigger horses than some other makes
  2. I knew that really, but just wanted to drop a vote of confidence for the ICE, gently, into the mix.
  3. Didn't Fiat have a couple of Pandas make it up to base camp on Everest (over 5000m) ?
  4. Ah, so can Colin not do some of his magic and give you your username back (assuming you want it, of course)?
  5. I'm confused...I occasionally go through periods of work when I don't access Brisky for 1-3 weeks and this year I had a family mater that took me away from the site quite a bit. I noticed ken didn't seem to be posting and remember checking his personal page, but didn't see a change of name. I assumed he had a row with someone and had taken a self-imposed time out. Have I missed something?
  6. I've had it on a few cars and currently have it available now, but I don't use it. If I sat in one lane all day, on a motorway, then perhaps it would be of some use to me, but swapping lanes constantly and not always needing to use indicators means you keep getting a 'surprise' when the car fights back. I indicate when pulling from lane 1 to 2, or 2 to 3 for instance, but if I clear the car I am overtaking and there is nothing else around me, I will pull back into the correct lane without indicating. It's the way I was taught and can't seem to unlearn it. There is some merit in this approach though, as you have to make sure everything is safe and clear before you pull back in, rather than a reflex, indicate and move (not that any Briskodian would be so crass of course). Also, sometimes late at night you may find large amounts of standing water or other hazard on the motorway and move quickly to avoid them, indicating not being necessary as no other fool is daft enough to be driving on a horrendous winters night at 3 in the morning and of course the car fights back as you cross the lines Disclaimer: the above comments don't apply to the BMWs I have owned, for obvious reasons...
  7. Henry Catchpole did a review on one and I think he is quite tall, probably somewhere around your height. He seemed to fit in OK
  8. Harry Metcalfe managed to fit in one btw and he is a bit on the tall side himself https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doA575LWdck
  9. Having just acquired a Jaguar F Type I think I have entered the arena of the GT owner (?) I've had the odd sports car, but mostly hot hatches and some silly saloons and coupes. The Jag doesn't really count as a Sports car in my eyes in either convertible or couple form. It is sprung quite firmly ("taught" might be a good description), although not as crashy as my previous M3, at least at low speeds, it is certainly quite quick, with the best part of 600hp allegedly under the bonnet and it can make quite a nice noise (it's half the reason for getting it ). But it is slightly impractical, compromised, beautiful to look at (in my eyes) and cruises effortlessly (top gear is stratospheric, so much so it can average 30mpg as 70 mph without problem). It is also quite heavy, but all cars seem to be these days and having a rather large supercharged engine and a 4x4 drive train doesn't help. I've often read the F type is the poor man's (and woman's ) Aston and in many ways this is probably true. If you can hire one - either the R (575ps) or R-Dynamic (450ps), but not the 300ps version - then I think you won't be disappointed. Great for cruising and they make a great noise under load once the needle passes around 3.5k The boot size is quoted at different volumes depending on what you read, but I can pack a very large suitcase and several squishy bags in it, but be aware, there is very little storage space in the cabin. It also has a 70 litre tank so if you keep your speed reasonable and don't drive too much in town, there is reasonable range to be had I shamelessly posted a link to some photos I took recently on Brisky, but here it is again in case you missed it https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjB7fC8
  10. Not anymore, it's covered in dirty Manchester rain now
  11. Definitely got the vroom factor and also rust. After only 3 hours from collecting it from 'Magic Detail' (Matt Phillpot in Timperly if anyone fancies a great detailer in Manchester), these are my exhaust tips Jags...eh
  12. I stuck the rest on Filckr https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjB7fC8
  13. Btw, if anyone is interested, it's best to click on the image as it won't look as soft as when it's displayed on the Brisky site.
  14. The file name has enhanced in it, as I ran it through a noise filter and it's added at export (just in case anyone wondered).
  15. I've played around with photplop and come up with some different treatments of similar shots
  16. I used to work at the smoggies footie ground on the odd occasion and remember seeing this amazing bridge/transporter as I drove in
  17. I just picked it up from the detailer and it was lovely for a few hours. Starting to rain now (if you click on the picture, you can see how shiny it is... or was)
  18. Absolutely. Still came as a surprise how total his immersion in the furry thing is. Don't know much about the scene. Looks quite good fun Wonder how you keep them clean inside? his 'foxy' race-helmet is amazing
  19. It seems to be quite a lifestyle choice, looking at this twitter feed. Quality costumes they all have. I wonder if I can get a plastic duck costume?
  20. Holy cow!!! (or other furry) that's a bit 'unusual'. Each to their own though and he seems to enjoy himself.
  21. New WoF and new Woof. Top result I think
  22. Not yet, as it's filthy and the detailer has threatened to break my fingers if I wash it. It gets detailed in December there are a few pictures snapped with my phone here
