245 tyres and scraping?
Has anyone who has fitted 245/45 R18 tyres to the standard Skoda 8.0J rims had any issues with the tyre scraping on bodywork or suspension/steering components? Our roads here are quite uneven and the suspension can sometimes bottom out on bumps. The 245 tyres are a cheaper option for me so I'd like to try them provided that they are issue-free in terms of fit. My car has standard suspension (no DCC and not Sportline)

Car won’t start when warm
I think that you'll need to get it scanned by someone with a VAG-compatible scanner (the generic ones won't do). Presume battery terminal bolts are nice and tight?

Car won’t start when warm
Any idea of the state of charge of the battery when the engine is warm? Maybe its overcharging? Was the new battery coded to the car when it was replaced?

Volume control not responding
Mine has started to do the exact same thing too over the last week or so

HVO100
- HVO100
Has anyone here run their diesel car on HVO100 fuel? It's about to become available locally and is supposed to be a straight replacement for conventional diesel- Opinions Required. 1.6TDI or 2.0TDI
The first one looks like a good bet provided everything checks out and it hasn't had a major knock at some stage. I'm not sure that 19" wheels are the best option for Irish roads but see how you get on with them as that's an easy fix if needed. The 2.0 is a much nicer engine than the 1.6 for general driving. I've read that the 190 takes a little longer to show it's muscle as it's got a larger turbo so takes a little bit longer to spool up but overall it ticks all the boxes. Google reviews of the seller are very good too.- What have you done to your Superb III today?
I spent a few days in Paris last week. I saw some graffiti and the public transport system closed at 9pm but other than that, there was nothing untoward in the main areas and queues for the attractions were as long as ever. The trouble seems to be restricted to the more disadvantaged areas of some cities, especially now that the public transport system isn’t running at night which makes it harder for troublemakers to spread unrest. There’s a lot of discussion on French television about it but it’s a lot less dramatic than the images on some TV and social media reports- What have you done to your Superb III today?
Not so much what I've done to my Superb rather what it's done for me. I've driven over 2,000km through France and the car has done everything asked of it. I tried to think of something that it could have done better and couldn't think of much. It'd benefit from Bilstein B6s and self levelling shocks at the back would be nice but other than that it's been great. 5.63 l/100km or 50mpg measured brim to brim fully loaded on premium diesel. The weather has been favourable so it looks reasonably clean considering.- Adblue top up not registering
- Towbar wiring grommet - fumes in car
That's a pity - I thought that I was on to something there. Thanks for checking and for the suggestion. I'll have a look for that menu option.- Towbar wiring grommet - fumes in car
Hi, I have a dealer fitted Skoda retractable towbar on my 2021 Superb Combi. I've been getting complaints of car sickness from rear seat passengers and often think that I can get a slight whiff of fumes from time to time. The wiring for my towbar enters the car from the outside through a fitted oval grommet which looks reasonably watertight but then (I think) goes through another circular grommet accessible from inside the boot at the rear of the wheelwell (left hand side as you face the back of the car). On my car, this grommet has had its centre removed to allow the wiring though but there's a gap around the wiring now and I'm curious as to whether this is the source of the fumes. If you have a Skoda towbar, would you mind having a quick look inside your wheelwell towards the back of the car to see if you have a sealed entry point for the wiring or if it's open, like mine. Any help would be greatly appreciated- Services..what's included?
In my experience (here in Ireland), service plans are bad value. Service departments are distinctly unenthusiastic about them, the bare minimum gets done and often items that should be included are debated. I got a three service plan included when I bought my car and was supposed to get a new pollen filter at the second service (30,000 km or two years). The service department refused to replace the pollen filter as the car wasn't two years old. I ended up getting a refund for the third service on the plan and cancelling it. While you don't always get what you pay for in main dealer servicing, you definitely don't with service plans. Salespeople love the commission but someone has to pay for the discounted services and that seems to be the service department. Ultimately the customer loses. That's just my experience, maybe its different in the UK.- Boot lid recall
Is this recall specific to cars with the electric tailgate or all models? Is this the part that the strut attaches to on the car body?- noise insulation
I'd be very reluctant to put soundproofing material in a weather-exposed area like that (under the windscreen, in the scuttle area) as it could lead to rust in the longer term . My 2016 2.0 diesel was definitely noisier than my 2021 2.0 diesel but I found that both ran more quietly on premium diesel. It's not a major improvement but higher cetane fuel does reduce clatter and vibration. You need to run two or three tankfuls to see the difference- where to find your cars actual specifications
There's some info in this thread. Alternatively, you can pay a small fee to download it from Erwin- Service
With a comprehensive service history like that, I'd be inclined to keep it up with a dealer rather than DIY unless you have good reason not to. Over here in Ireland, belt change intervals are 210,000km/130,000 miles or 5 years. To me, it's due around now and not really worth the risk to go past 140,000 miles. Even though the belt change interval seems to be conservative over here, Skoda dealers here do the bare minimum, especially on service packages so if they recommend 130,000 miles it's probably close to what's needed.- Trailer hitch fitted with faults
In this thread, (https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/509380-towbarstrailer-lightsleds-and-cruise-control/) it's suggested that ACC is disabled if the car detects an electrical anomaly such as a blown bulb. Might be worth trying a different trailer or something with a 13 pin connector if yours has the older 7 pin connector. Maybe there's a potential issue if there are LED bulbs on your car and filament bulbs on the trailer's equivalent circuit or vice versa.- VCDS options on Superb III
Would anyone be able to give me the long coding for the following modules for a 2021 FL Superb with factory TSR but without virtual cockpit and without ACC please? 5F 17 13 Thank you- Is it worth remapping a Superb Sportline 2L TDI 150BHP?
Thanks - I'm in Kildare as well. I'll probably wait another 18 months until the warranty is up but would be very interested in a remap and independent servicing at that stage- Is it worth remapping a Superb Sportline 2L TDI 150BHP?
Who did your remap? And your servicing?- Auto-dipping mirror - view?
It's adjustable, at least on the memory seat models- Adjust full LED headlights for driving on right
My Irish 2021 Superb has LED lights (not matrix), Columbus infotainment but no way of adjusting the lights for continental driving. That said, I was in France last summer and had no issue with oncoming traffic in rural roads. I've no idea if they adjusted automatically or if the beam pattern is such that its not a problem for oncoming drivers.- Identifying genuine door
Thanks - I’ll get back on to the body shop - HVO100
