  1. Hi all, Looking to get a set of 18" Lunas for my white superb saloon...does anyone have pics for inspiration? Also if you have pics of the other Skoda alloys that would be awesome, thanks very much
  2. Hi, I have a Superb but my lil bro has a Fabia, which he's asked me to source winters for. He has a Monte Carlo with 205/40 R17 84W Dunlops...one alternative is to buy 17 tyres which I've found but really I'd prefer to get a new set either 16" or 15" steelies or alloys with tyres. Please could you advise on the wheel size I need? I.e. ET number, wheel spacing etc and tyres for 15" and 16" steelies. I can find prices etc, really I'm just after the sizes. Also, are Fabia alloys 6.0J? or 6.5J? And would 7.0J or 7.5J fit? The reason I ask is I have a set of 17" team dynamics off my exOctavia with winter tyres 225/45 R17...the tyres are too big, I know, but perhaps the alloys will fit? Thanks
  3. I have some winter tyres/wheels for sale (Octavia 2) but cannot post in marketplace...what shoukd i do?
  4. I have 17" Pirelli Winter tyres that I'm getting ready to put on my Superb...they were on my Octavia MKII VRS before and they are fantastic. We get metres of snow over here in Slovakia, which can last 3-4 months.
  5. You're allowed anything apart from a Skoda...though 'allowed' sounds a bit weird. I suspect most people are on this forum as they have a Skoda, I was just curious what other cars people like and purposely capped it at 50k so that it's an 'accessible' car. Everybody would love a Ferrari or Bugatti (ok, not quite everybody), but it's not accessible for most people.
  6. If you couldn't have a Skoda (for whatever hypothetical reason) what would you have? Has to be brand new and up to around 50K I'm tempted to say Insignia OPC
  7. This is not quite car related but please could somebody help? I am working on my website and I can't for the life of me get it pin-sharp when I upload it on Prestashop. Every other banner is pin-sharp at 72dpi (see above Briskoda banner) yet mine looks as sharp as a blunt pencil. I am using Photoshop CS6. If posting link to my own website is against forum rules I do apologise, but this is the mess I am getting.... http://www.ssalg.co.uk/martini-glasses/11-glitz-martini-glasses-pair.html What I want are nice crisp blocks of colour with pin-shapr text. Any ideas? p.s. the website is a work in progress.
  8. Well that's the company Fabia gone for good... it really is a stab in the dark but if there is a central european reader here who does happen to see a beige Fabia reg. TT188DM (Slovak plates) then it's mine (well, my company's). Basically, Skodas go like hot cakes in the Czech Republic and Slovakia... they break them up and sell as parts cos they are so common. Ah well...worse things happen I guess.
  9. My sister in law has fallen in love with the Mini 5 years ago...now she is set on getting one after she saw the Mini Highgate. Trouble is it is only available as a convertible. Are modern convertibles designed to withstand -20C winters or should they just be used during summer? Seems ridiculous that it wouldn't withstand winter ice and snow. What are your opinions and what could go wrong and what to be weary of? The temp isn't continuously -20C but can get that cold and very snowy.
  10. Hi all, i got a mountain bike a week ago after not sitting on one for a few years. Totally got back into the sport but now need to transport it all over the place. I've been putting the rear seats down and took the back shelf out, but this is a bit inconvenient and a pain to do every time I want to go somewhere. Plus it means i can't take more than one person and no luggage. What's the best way to carry a bike on a twindoor? There seem to be various options: roof rack, boot rack and towbar rack (maybe even a trailer but that seems even more inconvenient). I think roof rack so that I can whack on some skis in the winter, but has anyone had experience and where is the best place to get roof bars? Is the best place from a Skoda dealer? Or are non-skoda better? Realistically how much sould I expect to fork out? Cheers
  11. I've just washed mine and noticed a bit of a stain on the right rear bumper just by the wheel. I will have to keep an eye on it as that area of the car was resprayed by the dealer because some muppet scratched it before I toom delivery.
  12. It IS the right colour!!! Wooo!!! A properly washed, waxed, polished white Superb does look fantastic indeed... just a shame it takes hours to get there and sod's law dictates that it WILL rain soon after you finish.
  13. Maybe not the smartest choice of colour...but for me it's still the nicest colour ....now where's the hose?...
  14. Went to Vienna yesterday for a day trip and came across this... he eventually turned off for Vienna Airport. Nice car and quite nippy...on Czech plates so presumably a pre-production car...
  15. I have always loved the look of the Skoda 110R (especially the racing 130RS), but the standard engine/brakes etc etca re a little 'boring'. I have often thought about stripping a 110R and putting in some kind of V6, modern brakes, gearbox etc. Really i'd like a classic body with a modern rocket car underneath (maybe using an Alfa as a donor car). Now, my problem is that over here in Slovakia it would be absolutely impossible to legalise/register and thus use on the roads as it is a beauracratic nightmare to even put 19" alloys on a Superb! An alternative I was thinking about was building a custom car (LHD) and having it legalised/registered/insured in the UK and simply bring it back on UK number plates and fully legal. As I understand such custom builds are possible in the UK, is this correct? I have dual UK and Slovak citizenship and grew up i the UK so this shouldn't be a problem. I would very much appreciate any tips and advice on how I could go about this and what regulations/standards/etc a custom build in the UK must meet. At this early stage i'm just reseraching possible avenues. Thanks
  16. I haven't used them, though i used etyres before and they were prettty good. Which tyres are you getting? I have Pirellis and they are awesome...had Continental TS810 and 830 as well on other cars...very good as well. Don't go for budget in my opinion as they won't be as good on snow/ice...the differenece in performance on snow/ice will be even more critical than when buying summer tyres. ADAC do fairly good reviews/tests
  17. Superb has 225/45/17 tyres and the offset is (i think) 51.
  18. In fact when I took delivery of my car I asked the dealer plainly what the difference is between the 140 and 170 in terms of the physical engine. He said there is no difference and the engine is exa?ty the same with just different mapping/ecu programming and rather than spending circa 2000EUR on a '170' engine you may as well get the'140' and later (i.e. After warranty) have it remapped to 170 for around 700EUR or less. Apparently the only reason Skoda do this is so that they have different price points... maybe someone can give more of an insight on this but from a marketing/sales point of view it makes sense...pay more if you want a bit more power.
  19. Mine is a CR I think, how can I check? It's a 2012 model year though built in October/November 2011
  20. Very nice! Excellent colour choice!!! Mine had heated front and rear seats as standard...as extras i got the heated front windscreen, bluetooth, full size spare and towbar...yours is far cleaner than mine though
  21. Coops, I run a manual on mine. Though I hear the DSG box is very good I prefer manual cars as they are more fun for me. I think your car must also be similar spec, as SE I think is equivalent to the Ambition over here in Slovakia. I would love a set of Pirellis for the summer! I have Pirelli winters and cant wait to try them on the Superb. What colour is yours? Mine is a white twindoor Bobbe, I kow what you mean...a little more power would be great! I do quite a lot of motorway driving and even when I am heavy footed and do between 140-160km/h the consumption doesn't average more than 5.8l. My octavia VRS would be using around 10l/100km. Diesel is around 10cents cheaper over here (1.38EUR) as well so though there is not the same power I have no regrets. What are fuel prices like in Sweden?
  22. I've had the superb now for two months and after 7000km I have to share my delight with this engine! It pulls beautifully, power delivery is exactly how I would want it and the gearbox that it's coupled with has all the right gear ranges. The fuel economy is tremendous for such an enormous car (combined 5.8l since new). I had an octavia II vrs tfsi before this and although the power was much higher, for some reason I like the power delivery much more from the tdi. The engine certainly feels like it's got more than 140bhp. After the warranty runs out in 3years and 10months (long way away) i'll probably do a remap and do something with the suspension and brakes to make it handle a little better in corners at faster speeds. I'm not sure what tyres the UK version comes with, but I got Dunlops (17") on mine and they aren't particularly good. The grip isn't good in corners and they seem a little soft.
  23. I haven't seen these on the options list for a Citigo...but this is what a proper Citigo should look like I hope this link works and points you directly to the Citigo....if not click through... there is a lot to look at (though after a while you forget your intention was to look at cars ) http://www.auto.cz/wrthersee-2012-zive-prohlednete-velkou-fotogalerii-67014/foto?uid=4fb6082bc89e8
  24. Do it Skoda...make a Tudor II. I would have bought one if it was on sale when I got the Twindoor... here are some pics of the Tudor I Please put in a 3.0TDI from an AUDI (240bhp) 4x4 ... a V10TDI would be asking a little too much I know... And please sort out the cupholders/bottleholder (or lack of in a decent place) while you're at it as I never have anywhere to put a 2l bottle of Coke! (it always rolls off the seat and onto the floor and we all know what opening it does! http://www.auto.cz/skoda-tudor-mladoboleslavske-prekvapeni-671
