  1. Just imagine pulling up in Sainsburys and seeing some middle aged chap jump out of his Siberian camo Roomster in matching attire I'd laugh my knackers off
  2. Got myself a pair of Prada Sports for everyday And Ray Ban Aviators to jazz up a bit
  3. WTF is that?! That's a bit............... errr........................... .................. different   Brilliant. We have a loony Citigo (almost) a loony Yeti and some camo Roomster jobby, along with all your other 'inventions'. You truly are the Nutty Professor Is it my leaving present
  4. Sales Manager here ...... well for another day and a bit. From MY experience it's a 'game' that you either love it or hate it. I started out in cars from an early age (Dad was a grease monkey, I cleaned as a Saturday boy) and got in to sales around 16/17 as a 'wheeler dealer'. Anyway...... Main dealer is different gravy. Depending on the size of the place, and I'd assume if it's German it won't be small, you'll have probably 6 - 10 salesman, mostly on rotating days though, so maybe 6 there at a time (maybe a couple less). It's one of those jobs that you are constantly 'at it'. I probably make 10 - 20 calls a day including new and used car quotes, trying to get peoples interest up, sending out quotes, dealing with whoever walks in the showroom, along with anything else that might arise. You can't be complacent, car sales is not a case of sitting on your arse making money, the more you put in the more you get out. My basic, for instance is OK but I couldn't by any stretch of the imagination live off of it, thus that is the incentive to sell - I won't divulge figures as every dealer will have a different set up . You will get your poor months, just before and just after Christmas are pants, and generally summer holidays quietens down but you keep that in your mind and make the money when you are flat out. Things like phone calls to customers, they may not want to buy right then, it might take them a few weeks or even months BUT that person could be the key to your pay being OK or half decent in one of the quieter months. Product knowledge - it's surprising how many sales people are absolutely shocking at this. It's like asking a sparky to wire you a socket and he doesn't have a clue - FFS it's key to selling anything, let alone cars. One point to make you aware of is Sales and General Managers - some can be ruthless, but not in a fair way (seeing both sides etc) just jumped up ****s. If you get a half decent manager you're on to something good; if they let you go at your own pace a bit more it will help. There's nothing worse than being demoralised every time you get in to work. You don't want an atmosphere between sales staff as this will affect sales, if everyone's jumpy customers will pick up on it and your buggered. The hours here are lovely, but the majority of dealer groups will be times around 8.30 - 6 or 7 Monday to Friday, 8.30 (maybe 9) - 5 or 6 Saturday and Sundays 11 - 4 (?) - Sundays usually being 1 in 2/3 or 4 depending on staff levels. Like I said, if you want to do it as a 'job', walk in, bugger around, hopefully sell a car or 2, get paid and go home then it's probably not for you. If you think you can get your head down a bit and give it a good crack you should do well - customer loyalty goes a long way as well. Hope that helps.
  5. A set in 2 hours. Bloody nora mate, that is some going :-(
  6. Black doors make it quicker...... I'm intrigued
  7. The flyer, not out Hendon way but it's the Stansted to Liverpool Street train. There are a few dotted around the outskirts that, if you time it right, you miss all but 2 or 3 stops - In to Kings Cross St Pancras, Waterloo, Liverpool Street etc. I'd be inclined to walk to the station and do everything by tube, bus and boat. I'd have a look in to the London Eye, worth a punt as well. It's mad but definitely a city well worth seeing.
  8. The BMW driver was a f*cking 4arse. So when you buy a Beamer you have to drive like a pr1ck on public roads AND tracks. Was there a swear jar in the car, all donations go to a new set of tyres, profanities everywhere Some quick cars there but it looked a bit more Mario Kart than a track session, some people really don't like being overtaken do they The 'thing' is truly amazing.
  9. I worked round Hendon, Edgware etc a few years back, its murder no matter what time you intend to go through. Out of interest where are you intending on going siteseeing? Where are you staying? I would avoid central London and the outskirts like the plague, you'll spend all day driving around. Have a look at parking prices at the local station - tubes and trains are a piece of cake, just try and avoid before ~8.30 and 5 til ~7. Albeit a lot further out but my local train station parking is ~£8 a day, jump on the flyer and your in Liverpool Street in half an hour. It'll be your best bet I would have thought.
  10. Bit of poor journalism there. Yes the TT shop have done wonders but it is Richard with his mad as a March hare ideas (and some money) that got this done
  11. And if you look closely at the number plate there's some free advertising .............. ................. albeit for just a few more days :S
  12. Thanks Tim, appreciated Earlier I had a customer actually in tears with the fact that we were closing - she'd dealt with us since (nigh on) the outset, almost half a century :'( Looking forward to a long weekend next weekend then head down 4rse up and start all over again
  13. Beautiful translation.... we are not only grateful for this mega threat..... that is one thing the Yeti can be called . It is a threat to more prestige brands in and around tracks and to Billy Big Balls who has one (and his sanity).
  14. Of course David. I'm taking my customer database over there so you will be getting bombarded with letters from them now I shall see you in a few months, and congratulations to you and Val, she finally tied you down Being able to walk straight in to another place has been a god send. I've had a couple of other offers, and in fairness the money is a bit better, but without having the driving license at the mo, travel can be a PITA. Had one interview that was about 21 miles away, lovely jubbly, but to train it........................ 1 hour 45 minutes S0d that, plus the owners over there have been accommodating with regards to the license, so hopefully all it'll be like putting on those shoes that you've had for donkeys years. Cheers mate, appreciated. Sad times but onwards and upwards
  15. ^^^^ This. Lee's Yeti even has a pano roof Richards just multi itches that we all realise need scratching. The Yeti went from bog standard to uber quick in a heart beat. Richard, being Richard, after demoralising a lot of 'fast cars' obviously wanted even more, at least until the lllooonnngggg awaited Citigo concoction appears. For 99% of us Lee's Yeti is both quick AND practical, Richards is now just lunacy - which is good
  16. As I said Fordy, heads held high rather than heads rolling. Mr Hunt? Err, Warren and Brian are the owners/guv'nors, Rhys is sales/handovers and a bit of everything but don;t know his last name, there is another chap down there but I'll be buggered if I can think of his name. That is the key ball ache Mike, the parking is a right royal PITA - they've worked wonders with the space that is available just the parking issue, but hey, that's London for you It's a start but I'd rather spend it on sun, sea and sangria :cocktail:
  17. Good to hear you're pleased with it mate. As you say, in stage 3 guise it was quick, can only imagine now. A bit of Roomster spotting in the background as well
  18. I've got £7.20 and half a box of orange and lime tic tacs, plus your 10, not far to go Mike Looking forward to it, it's a bit of a chore at the minute, no cars in the showroom, all of about 5 used left, just going through the motions.
  19. There's always one..... and I thought you'd gone all sensible. Not seen any ramblings lately, good to know your still on form mate. Bl00dy Desmond
  20. Yes Mike, it'll be the only one around, unless anyone's got a spare 5 million quid they can lend me and I'll open up down Romford
  21. Pfft, move further north, you must be joking, I'd have to learn a new language...................... .................... or teach you all one As I said Denis, it is what I know and it's a family run dealership so shouldn't be too different to here, just won't quite have the rub of the green there that I do here, but hey ho, mouths to feed and bills to pay Thanks Alan, appreciated.
  22. Pop in to say hello when you get 5 miunutes
  23. I slipped through the net there then Appreciated fella
  24. All in due course Dr Z. We've not disappeared just yet
  25. Well, well, well. What a difference a few days can make, can be a case of 'not what you know it's who you know..... or just being a jammy bu66er. I have been offered another role at another Skoda dealers TBF it's what I wanted, the brand is what I know and hopefully I can take a few customers over with me as well. As of May I shall be gracing or is that darkening (?) the doorstep of Trans City in Walthamstow So if anyone wants to pop over and say hello, I know there's a couple of you on here that are TC customers feel free to do so. The end of one era is nigh but the start to another is all but here. Thanks for all the kind words etc fellas it really is appreciated. We may all be labelled 'stealers' but we're not ALL bad.
