  1. Thanks to you both. With the Columbus I still need Bluetooth separately (I think) and the combined cost is much higher. The pioneer website says its canbus compatible with PDC and heating. The VRS comes standard with maxi dot and I'd hate to loose functionality there. OEM looks are important to me so I'll reconsider. Thanks
  2. I'll be taking delivery of my OctyVRS DSG soon and as per plan intend to swap the Bolero head unit with a in dash satnav unit almost straight away. Have thought of various options but this deal currently caught my fancy: http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-pioneer-avic-f930bt_p-27101.htm What can I expect to get for my Bolero unit? I have heard figures as high as £350. In which case replacing it with a pioneer unit costing about £650 which gives you iPod Bluetooth and satnav seems to be no brainer. Any thoughts? If I do want to sell my Bolero, what would be the best place to do so and do I have to get the radio code from the dealer at time of delivery?
  3. More! That's why I went with them. Was about £1200 lower than with 20% off which my local was offering. That's almost another 7-8% off!
  4. Thanks to you both for your replies. But it looks like your dealers kept you informed. Am I just expected to wait around and then one day get a call to say its ready?!?
  5. Hi all, Just curious to know what the experience of others here who've ordered new cars has been. I placed my order through autoebid for a race blue petrol Octavia VRS DSG on 1/12/11. Paid autoebid their fee and £500 deposit to the dealer. This was done over the phone and post as dealer wasn't local (about 50 miles away). Since then I've heard nothing from them. They quoted a delivery date of 15/3/12. I have contacted them twice and been fobbed off. No build date nothing! Is this normal once they've got your order or could it be because my order was through Internet broker and hence low margin? Realistically speaking what chance do I have of seeing it by the promised date? That is a special date for me as its my wife's b'day and this was meant as a surprise for her! Update: got no reply to emails. Finally called them up today and managed to speak to someone in sales who looked up my file and said they have a build date for week 6 and I can expect delivery Mid March! Was mum on why they'd failed to notify me but gave me an SLI number to help me track it's progress. Am proper excited!!😃
  6. I'm waiting to take delivery of my new OctyVRS in march and have in mind to swap the bolero with a Columbus and a BT unit and was thinking of the Denison. Probably best to swap at same time to minimise labour. Where did you get yours fitted? And is it all hidden away? Lastly do you get artwork on the display?
  7. Thanks bigman. Mine will come with the bolero fitted. Do I think I still need fascia trim? And what do you do with the bolero? Do they sell well?
  8. Thanks for that. So no fascia trim required? Only thing putting me off is lack of Bluetooth in the Columbus Have it in my freelander and am so used to it that I actually prefer to make calls in the car! Add an iPhone with Siri and it could be awesome!
  9. Thanks Keith. Mine has been ordered without Bluetooth. Mannyo thanks for doing that. You can tell I'm a newbie!
  10. Where dd you get your Columbus from? Don't you miss Bluetooth? I think that's almost mandatory nowadays. But thanks for your replyG
  11. I've ordered a Octavia VRS DSG peol in race blue. The only option I wanted and didn't select was the sat nav. At £1600 I thought it was too expensive and doing some homework I thought I could get a Columbus off eBay for £600 or so and save a grand. However it now seems there are a few more choices with some companies offering products that look OEM and offer either more functions or are cheaper. There are several threads here but none covering all products etc. After much research I've realised most people swear by the Columbus unit but there some concerns about them being stolen units. Secondly, people who do venture beyond the Columbus are either saving money and find he trade off acceptable between poor GUI etc and money saved(Chinese products) or spend more on products from Pioneer, Clarion or Zenec and find the increased functionality (Bluetooth mainly) well worth the extra outlay. I am firmly in the second camp and have identified the Zenec 2010 as something I'd be keen on (though open to suggestions hence this post). My questions regarding it are as follows:a) As per Zenec website their products are only compatible with Seat and VW and not Skoda although intriguingly on their updates section they mention a can bus update for Skodasb) assuming it does work, do I need a fascia trim if I'm replacing the factory fitted Bolero as both are double DIN units?c) caraudiocentre and some other websites are offering a Zenec 5600 as a perfect Skoda fit. But this unit is not advertised on the Zenec website so presumably is a discontinued model. However feature for feature seems to match the 2010. Any body shed some light on this?d) what do you with the Bolero unit if you do swap?e) anybody know where I could get mine fitted(DIY is definitely out). I live in Coventry and visit Ilford in Essex oftenYour help is much appreciated
  12. Hi. I went through autoebid and this is what I got - petrol octavia VRS DSG in race blue with front and rear parking sensors, curtain air bags, space saver tyre and auto dimming mirrors for £18290. Local dealer quoted 19617 and wouldn't budge! Gaurav
