  1. Definitely a Top Gear trend. It's tongue in cheek and works well to describe them... Flappy Paddles is commonplace now, as is "Womble" to describe Traffic Officers/Highway Agency 4x4s! It's like "Daddy Long Legs" - I refer to crane flies as "Daddy Long Legs" but they're Crane Flies.... it's a nickname!
  2. Thanks for the reassuring comments everyone. I will give it until my first service (as I barely use eco mode anyway so it wont cause a problem) then mention it if i still have a problem.
  3. Hi All I've had my new MK3 vRS TDi Estate (DSG) since friday - love it! But this morning on the motorway (in 50mph roadworks) i tried out the ECO mode... and found something strange and wondered if it's a slight software fault that may be on others too. It occurred between 40mph and 45mph cruising in ECO mode and I had backed off the accelerator and then back onto it gently and it wouldn't accelerate at all - the rev counter hovered between 1-2k revs with no power at all.. almost as if it didnt know what gear to select and just left the clutch engaged while it thought about it... I tried again with the above directions and managed to get it to do it again - if i deselect eco mode there is no issues at all. So this time round i tried "BOOTING OUT" ... i.e. just put my foot down to try and get some kind of acceleration and that worked - kicked down and started to pull again with a swift cloud of diesel smoke! Anyone else with DSG able to try this and see if they can recreate the symptoms before I take it into Skoda? Thanks, Tom
  4. Had a few changes since my last post. Will post some updates soon. thanks for your comments - the wheels are going in for matte black refurb. Grille is being colour coded (but keeping the spare matte black). original boot badge being ordered. front grille that is cracked being replaced. Happy!
  5. Do you have all the vents and ash tray fr sale? If so what for job lot? Thanks
  6. I suffer the same hot weather cooling issues....
  7. I've done a similar fitment with a universal fmic. The worst part was probably doing all this bogging then finding the forge vag connectors... So i purchased some more hoses and the connectors and then another eom pipe as I'd cut mine too and then bam. It's pretty good now. Wish I had known in the first place... Oh and if your Alu pipes don't have lips on the ends then replace them with some that do.. Or some hoses with connector pipes as the pressure can pop them off! And at *insert high speed on motorway that may or may not be over 70* you're in trouble... It wasn't fun. Thanks for a great topic with some good details. Tom
  8. I need tow of these for either end of the intercooler 'system' which one is standard fitment for Fabia vRS TDI 2003/2004 AZT (Engine code, i think...) http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/content.asp?inc=product&cat=0022HC&product=FMABHC
  9. Hi all Recent had fitted a universal intercooler kit and had a lot of success with two minor hiccups... The straight plastic hose that runs alongside the block from top (of the engine bay, if looking in) to the L shaped hose that fits the standard intercooler. This pipe is narrower than the hose kit I have fitted for the Fmic. So wanted to grab a forge diameter converter hose... But I don't know the diameter of this hose. Any ideas? Secondly I am in need of a place to put the map/thrust sensor... At the mo it's bogged into an Ali pipe and leaking boost (whistling). So wanted to know if the forge one is worth it
  10. I put the pram in the boot folded up (stokke xplory - so its hardly a small one!) put baby seat behind passenger seat and strap the dog into the seat behind drivers :-) job done
  11. AMD mapped mine to 185bhp on their rollers with standard everything bar clutch and 50 odd k later still original turbo and intercooler
  12. Hi Habib Firstly - they're coilovers so if you want low/handling then you naturally accept a firmer ride. These are entry level coilies so I never expected much. It's deffo a lot less forgiving than standard and when you hit a bump and a pothole you'll know about it. However it's not at all unbearable and I drive from Wiltshire to slough on it every day without trouble. Hope this helps
  13. My AMD map came out on rr at 185bhp - that was early on in it's life - I bought it at 62k miles and working fine and now at nearly 80k still running fine on stock turbo.
  14. Same - I'm on spiders and have FK streets (cheapo!) and have it slammed :-) ace to drive ... Just doesn't like really BIG bumps and holes
  15. +1 Also would love coming home lights to be the fogs - similar to the standard SEAT Exeo feature :-)
  16. Okay so ... update time. Got chatting to a recommended supplier of intercoolers about what is available for the fabia and it turns out the guy in charge needed some help delevoping a new intercooler "kit" for the fab vRS so offered me a deal. intercooler by OfficialFerris, on Flickr Arrived today! Woop Once completed ill post up some info and prices for the finished kit (a long as he decides to continue with production)
  17. Genuinely looking forward to how this turns out. Good luck
  18. Struggled to find a decent topic on this in the Fabia sections.. I don't know ANYTHING about injectors but heard that the pd130 and pd150 were pretty much, if not exactly, the same part. So I want to look at the benefits and options of updated injectors .... The thing is... What to update to ? Would the audi 2.5 tdi injectors work/fit/be worth it? What do pele generally upgrade to or just not bother? Thanks Tom
  19. Nice one dude - ill wait for your feedback (if mine doesn't fail in the meantime!)
  20. Oh hello dude - I'm gonna post a status about it see what the general opinion is. How much is the part or parts then? Worth replacing with updated or tdi golf pd150 parts etc? Tom
  21. Hi techies! I've got a very vague and unfortunately intermittent problem with my 2004 fabia vrs. Couple of notes - clutch is a Sachs sports/up rates clutch and flywheel (dual mass). Remapped by amd and on coilies. The issue is apparent when at a standstill and mostly in first gear. So stopped at traffic lights for example - in first with clutch down, sometimes there is a very very quiet clunk and the car tries to very slowly creep - as if I have released the clutch. Then if I notice this (as also the engine note gets deeper) then I pull it out of first but it gets STUCK! It's possible to yank it out but it's firmly in! Otherwise this still occurs when first ISN'T selected - if in neutral and I go for first to pull away I then find that first is extremely tough to try and select! Sometimes a rev of the accelerator releases it, sometimes not. Genuinely concerned that this is gonna be costly! Any help id be so so grateful for. Thanks
