  1. Exactly! The irony is that when i lived at my folks' fairly 'low-risk' suburban postcode my then car was occasionally damaged. At my 'M' postcode it's never been interfered with
  2. ....oh, but Admiral are 'only' £1145 with girlfriend as additional driver.... interesting. I wonder if my Mother would make it even cheaper?
  3. Admiral..... £1471.05 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHA
  4. That would have increased my old policy by 100quid. I'll try Admiral.
  5. Royal and sun Alliance, apparently... Grrrrrr. Although I like the car, I'm seriously considering whether or not it's worth the insurance. A Mondeo TdCi hatch would do the job almost as well. Come to think of it, a mate in the next road pays 1400quid for his (driven like a grandad ) 225 TT.... They always ask for marital status. Are husbands less, or more, of a risk than unmarried blokes like myself?
  6. I thought it would be farily straight-forward, but it looks as if my renewal quote of 924 isn't actually too bad  Adrian Flux wanted over 1100quid! -apparently because of the increased engine power (they're supposed to insure modified cars???...) and the postcode (despite the city I live in, my house is actually in a very quiet cul-de-sac). Any others to try? Is it worth joining Briskoda for Chris Knott policy?
  7. How on Earth are you lot getting such low quotes????? I'm 29. re-mapped Octavia vRS, 6 years NCB, 3 points and the quotes are ~1000quid! Adrian Flux wanted >1100 quid! I guess Manchester postcodes don't help....
  8. why are you swapping the 350Z????
  9. Someone had one where I worked a few years back. The 348 is probably one of the least popular (apart from the Mondial!). don't you need to take the engine out to change the cam belt?
  10. so, in addition to the frequent fuel stops, time spent in the workshop will also reduce the average speed. All for a lot of wonga.... The 350Z sounds like a much better prospect to me.
  11. I@m not sure what the latest rotary engines are like. the old RX7s could be made to *really* shift, for about a week. You'd hope it would be nicely balanced. It's a rear wheel drive coupé, not a warmed-up family hatch, but from what I've seen the engine's like a gas turbine and having to stop for petrol every 5 minutes would reduce the average speed a bit
  12. not as much grunt as a re-mapped vRS. Very thirsty. Do the engines last long?
  13. Yes. I just got into the habit of pressing the door-lock button when I get into the car.
  14. If you want a fast hot hatch, get the Civic. If you don't you'll regret it.
  15. It was free on my 2nd hand Focus 2.0 Zetec 'ESP'. It was much, much better than the 'ASR' on my Octavia.
  16. maybe modifiying your posture might be easier?
  17. It'll be interesting to hear what they come up with as the reason for it....
  18. Spraying it liberally, and repeatedly, seemed to make a difference. I 'think' it made the idle more stable, although it has started hunting a bit again recently.
  19. What does? The performance has returned to normal without me cleaning it. I've sprayed it with electrical contact cleaner in the past. Most recently about 3 months ago.
  20. Really??? What engines do they use?
  21. it was cold this morning. 10degC. The car felt even better!
  22. no, it's still warm around here. It's great, like having the car re-mapped again The engine even sounds different (ignition timing back to 98/99 octane advance?) and economy is back up to normal (-economy is usually better in warm weather)
