  1. I've got same issue after doing cam belt, can crank angle be checked with my friends Snap-on Solus Pro tool, or is it only VAGCOM. We used correct tool to lock crank and pin in adjustable cam pully.
  2. Had to have my starter motor repaired at about 166,000 miles last year due to bits of DMF jamming solenoid open and motor constantly running, have replaced clutch and DMF with same Sachs kit that was in it minus the Skoda branding with no problems since. It's never been quite right starting since, especially if you leave the car off for more than about 20 min but not long enough that it totally cools down, at which point if will start first turn of the key. It is also fine first start in the morning . It's becoming a pain as Superb is a Taxi and as a result I'm hardly ever turning it off during the day as not sure if it will start. a lot of the time the drive disengages and it spins but dosnt turn the engine over, other times it will spin motor over but it won't fire. I've been back into the starter motor specialist on 2 occasions and he has said something else is wrong with car and I need to get that sorted b4 he replaces the drive which he ordered yesterday. I had a similar problem about 6 years ago with a 406 that would turn over but not start, fitting a recon starter from main dealer cured that issue. My concern now is that the issue with Superbs starter is more than just drive not engaging and a day off work while he strips and replaces drive may be a bit cheaper, but recon started from Skoda is only £180 and I get every thing new. Car is on 190,000 miles and twice this week I have had to let it get totally cold b4 it would start. Any advice please?
  3. Need to do this on mine too, only ever beeped first time you put it in reverse after starting the car since I got it. The 2 small black clips coming throug under parcel shelf are the locating pins for the buzzer on my 08 Superb, can see it through gap in parcel shelf with right rear seat folded down, which I think only later cars have. Where do you buy the Cobra kits from?
  4. I dont think its been gone for long as when we did cam shaft the belt wasnt flapping like it was on Saturday.
  5. done today and all is well again. Pully wouldnt spin either way. I couldnt get it done with the hand tool I borrowed at workshop so wizzed into a local Altenator specilist who span it off for me and put new one back on, did it for free but I gave him a £6 for doing it, so £44 for pully from Euro and im done for £49. Shaft was T50 too. doing few cycles of sucking out and replacing the PAS fluid as I have it. Thanks for the advice
  6. I plan to do it that way, did new cam shaft and followers a few weeks ago so the fan shouldnt be a problem. Got me worried about which tool I have access to now, been into another shop that has one in stock too, so hope one of them is the right one!
  7. got new pully, now need to get the tool to change it as its not as simple as i thought, never is is it!
  8. I got fluid yesterday as a precaution but level was ok. It is quite brown so will do change anyway. Ive removed belt and pump spins freely. I span alt pully without locking iit, how do you lock it? I know its a common problem on them so it could well be that. Thanks
  9. Having problem with steering pump on 189,000 milel Superb1. At tickover pump is chirping when steering wheel is turnes left ot right. If I rev enging I get no noise. Driving is ok and steering operates as it should. I think its making a rumbling noise at tick over without any turning of steering wheel. Im assuming it is the pump that has packed up, at £200 for an exchange, I dont want to replace it unless Im sure its the problem.
  10. Looked from under the car and it doesn't go to where I thought when I checked on my friends car. Re connected it and got boost back. Thanks for the help guys.
  11. Problem now is the rubber coupler fell off and I have no under tray as it was damaged and got ripped off when we had floods so I've lost it! Just going to main stealer to order one.

  13. Just had a quick look, I asume it's the little black plastic pipe tat is near the turbo, I'm possibly missing a lent he of thicker rubber pipe that goes from the end of it to the valve as its about 4 inches away and not connected to it.
  14. Well I know I haven't reconnected anything to the air cleaner, so will start there in the morning. Is it on the top of the air box or on the lower section, the guy helping me put that back on and may have missed it, thought I put the top on and connected the MAF.
  15. Did the clutch and flywheel on my 1.9 2008 Mk1 Superb, all sorted but I now have no turbo boost. Can only asume we have pulled something apart and didn't notice while getting at the top gearbox bolts. We only disconnected the MAF and 2 connectors on the near side of the gear box. I would think its a variable vane turbo with a vacuum system. Any ideas on where to look please?
  16. Just replaced mine on my Taxi myself as flexible pipe broke. was £147 from Exhaust Unlimited including the link pipe from Cat to exhaust. It was earlyer type up to 2006 without the spring coil around the outside of the flexi pipe, mine is an 08 1.9PD car but fitted fine and is back running. Was a pain to get out as 08 cars have a different EGR valve and had to remove part of the heat exchange to do it. I think earlyer cars with the round EGR might not need that doing.
  17. Purely financial reasone for getting it back on the road, the car gets me 2 more years use than if I go and buy another 5 year old car, not many under 5 year old 1.9PD Superbs about now to buy.
  18. Cars had all the suspention and hub carrier replaced, got a wing on it but the spraying is not finnished yet. They took it for a test drive and gearbox was ok, took it to have tracking done, so the mechanical side of it is done and is all ok. As its a Taxi, it had to have another MOT b4 going back on, even though it was only done 2 weeks b4 accident, was done and passed today. May be back to me this weekend.
  19. had this on mine b4 christmas, new indy stork sorted it, was about £77 for new one. My mate had the same thing on his too.
  20. Cars have to be under 5 years old when they are put on as a cab, yours would be too old to bring on. We can only keep them on untill they are 8 years old or 10 years old for what they class as Limousine. which is normaly a bigger engine or body, which is how we got the Superb's for 10 years. Car was collected from the Approved Body shop today and should now be at my mates workshop.
  21. Temp fix, remove the grommets and that will stop it flooding again, mate and me have done this an not had problem again with out Taxis.
  22. My mate is saying £1,000 to £1,500 to put it right, as I have also spent money on it b4 the accident and it being a car I can use for a further 5 years which I value at £8,000, its worth far more to me than the book price of the car. I would be looking at putting a furthe 180,000 miles on it in that time, so could be well over 300,000 miles buy the the loss in value being a Cat D would not rearly matter. We have had B5 Passats go to 350,000 plus with nothing more than new cam and followers, so the Superb has the petential to go to 10 years old, it's paid for in 2 years so I get 3 years use after costing only maintenance. Anythin big goes wrong I can just bin the car at very little loss and replace it.
  23. I got a copy of the parts that the repair shop were preposing to replace and its pretty much the whole of the suspention on the left side as well as the wing (£129.32), bumper (£274.80) and the door (£348) at a total of £753. All 4 of the suspention arms, shock, wheel bearing housing, bearing and hub, these parts alone come to £1120. Then power steering at £1,053. 2 tie rods at £257 New Wheel and Tyre £327 Total of £4,002 and with a 12% deduction on RRP its £3,522 in parts alone. Will get allignment checked either at Main Dealer or somewhere like Formula One if they can do it, as only half a mile from their workshop. Should be started on this week so will post up as it goes.
  24. No, Ive checked with everyone and its all ok. Another Taxi has just gone back on after a similar situation, think its only Cat Ds. It just needs another MOT and its done, only had one 2 weeks ago.
  25. Yep, as a taxi I can use for another 5 years, it has a value to me of about £8,000 or £1,600 per year.
