  1. Water leak is from washer bottle. Got a rental replacement car at their cost at the moment. As a Taxi in our borough, the Superb is a 10 year car, so replacing it with another saloon car thats only liscensed for 8 years would mean Im loosing 2 years use of it after its paid for in Jan 2015. I value that at about £1,600 per year based on a £5,000 car repaying over 3 years, plus the maintenance I have in it with recent cambelt/water pump and other bits, I would be loosing out to the value of over £3,500. . Ive been in to see the assessor at Nationwide today to find out what is actualy damaged on the car with a view to getting it sorted by a friend and his father who do repairs. Its only bolt on part's that need replacing and is written off because they want to replace the whole of the nearside suspention with new genuine Skoda parts. My friends dad has been to look at it and is saying its a fairly easy repair and is saying about £1,500 maximum to get sorted, will need a wing, headlamp, wheel, both upper arms and possibly lower, front bumper and a few other bits including a new CV joint the be safe. May also need a rack and driveshaft, but he doubts it. They say I can have the car for £1,733, which they would deduct from the payout. giving me nearly £3,300 to fix it which is a good option I think, even if it needed a gerabox.
  2. here are some pics of the damage, the repair shop have quoted £4,800 to the Insurance company to put it right. closer pic of front wheel, top arms are bent, which is pulling top of the wheel in. I nearly got around the car that pulled out so not full impact on the front of the car so I would not have thought there was major chassis damage.
  3. £500 more than I paid for it last January but I knocked them down on the price as it had been flooded and no interior lights and wing mirror LEDs were not working. I dried it out and fixed about 5 nodes and removed the bungs and it been fine since. Problem is getting hold of another one for the money, only seen 1 1.9PD and it was £6,500 and in Ireland.
  4. After jus a year, my 1.9PD Superb's be written of buy another one of our drivers pulling out on me at a junction. It was a 2008 57 plate car which they are offering £4,950 back. As this is the last year of Mk1s I'm having trouble finding many for sale under 5 years old and most seem to be 2.0PDs. From memory there was a problem with these engines oil pump, is that the case for even late cars or was it resolved on them?
  5. VW507 is recomended for the long life service interval for up to 20,000 miles, dont think its rearly needed for changes under 10,000 miles.
  6. I did think the cam lobes wernt very wide when I saw it, think since he has had the car he had done oil and filter changes at 8,000 mile intervals. Im looking at doing it every 5,000 miles now, although mine has been on longlife serves with VW507 for the first 4 years/120,000 miles of its life. We get Vauxhall oil for £70 for a case of 20Lts so only cost about £12 for 3.6Lts of oil plus a filter per change.
  7. the saving in a SMF only comes at the next change where you only need the replace the clutch.
  8. 2 friends have had the same problem with their cars this week. 1 is a 1.9 130BHP 06 Superb WITH 210,000 miles, the other is a 1.9 O7 Octavia with only 135,000 miles, both Diesel engines. They have both get a hole worn through a valve bucket and worn lobe on the camshaft, both been using correct VW505.01 oil. Is this common at these sort of miles? The Superb has cost him just under £400 to replace the camshaft, all 8 buckets, camshaft oil seal and gaskets, and done the job himself so no labour charge, took him over 10 hours to do.
  9. feel the same, didnt like them until I saw the estate advert on tv for the first time, was going to be my next car when they were 4 years old and can be got at a good price, however the 407 blew up and got a mkI. I may still get a 2010 estate in 2014 though, as its about the last diesel without DPF.
  10. on the SMF, unless you are going to do well over 100,000 miles and wear the replacement clutch you might as well stick with a DMF. My Superb is a Taxi and it wont rearly be much difference in price to put another DMF in as I wont be having it when the replacement clutch would need replacing. Would come down to the price of the SMF kit compaired to DMF kit.
  11. I think you only need to use 507 if your on longlife service, as 505 01 is cheaper I dont mind changing it at 5,000 to 8,000 miles. If there was only a little diference in the price I would go with the higher spec oil. One of my mates has used the Vaxhaull oil for over 110,000 miles in his AWX without any problems and car is now on 210,000 miles.
  12. Getting service done this weekend as got the cup to remove the filter housing top. Car has been on vairiable service and assume used VW507 long life oil. I will be changing to fixed intervals and looking at changing to the oil every 8,000 miles as its used as a taxi. Im looking using Vauxhall Dexos 2 5w-30 fully synthetic which meets VW505 01, as I can get it on our trade account at £70 for 20Lts. Is there any reason not to use this oil in PD engines? Its alot cheaper than VW507 as the cheapest i can get it for is about £40 for 5Ltrs, compaired to the £16 per 5Ltrs for the above if brought in case of 4.
  13. That's about all I was looking at doing, and was thinking of the Spax springs and possibly new Sasch shocks.
  14. here is pic of my Flamenco red Superb that I got 2 weeks ago, is used as a taxi but im thinking of changing the springs as it look a little high. Are all 07-08 115s like this?
  15. Ive not done the pollen filter yet, my pannel has a crack in it already so will buy a new one b4 I do it as they are ment to be only about £10 new.
  16. I believe you can, and gauge buy the pointer as to how streched the belt is. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/160276-cambelt-on-my-19-tdi/ What make is the OE belt, as I will have a look at the weekend and see if its been changed and the tension.
  17. car is a Jan 2008 115bhp, so a 2007 model and engine code is BPZ.
  18. Noticed tonight that I now have led's under my wing mirrors that work now too.
  19. after a tank addative injector cleaner for my 115 1.9PD, and recomended or should I avoid them.
  20. I called them on Tuesday, they confirmed the Sevice and the front drop links but no record there of cam belt change. Im sure it would have been done and is one of the recorded items above, would like to confirm for sure, otherwise I will replace it with a new water pump to be safe. My thinking is that it looks like it has been serviced properly and I doubt they would have missed a cam belt change, its on 116,000 miles so would not be due for a while. Is there a central contact within Skoda UK that would have all info on service carried out at main dealers, I dont have any other paperwork and there is no other stamped dealer info in service book.
  21. The following is info I got on my Superb from HPI check, seems all the service mileage was reported as I know the 76,042 and 78,424 mile ones were at Farmers Skoda in Leicester. Im waiting on info from the cars user on when/if it had a cambelt change which I think should be at 75,000 miles, is that correct? Car was regestered and delivered to customer on 24.01.2008.
  22. Who would have guessed! Posted brief intro, but Hi all again. Got a Superb on monday, it had already had a leak and lost interior lighting, which after spending a while reading posts here, gave me the confidence that I could sort this problem out if i purchased a car and had it happen. However I looked at a car that I liked and already had interior lights out so used the fault to get £500 off the asking price. Now Im sure that some would not recomend buying one that has already leaked, but there are 2 types of Superbs, those that have leaked and those that havnt YET. Disconnected the battery first, then spent a few hours taking rear seat and pasanger seat out and lifting carpet to dry out, I found a big patch of green round the large bunch of red wires in the rear footwell and cut back and cleaned wires with wire wool and resoldered and put it all back together thinking it was just those that was the problem. Bingo, footwell, vanity, boot, puddle and interior lights all working, however lights not coming on when the doors are opened. Left it to today to look again, all front ones are ok but 2 other rear nodes came off when I pulled it leaving 2 sets of 6 unconnected wires. These were blue/grey and red/blue I think. Done the soldering again, twisting 2 wires together and soldering, then wrapping with a wire strand and soldering all 6 together, insulated and interior back in and once reconected the battery it all worked, Im a happy bunny. I also removed battery and metal tray under it on Monday to remove the bung and pulled the one under the servo up while I could get to it, so thats that problem solved. I will be getting the parts to reseal the pollen filter housing too. My friend has a Superb as a cab too, its leaked but hasnt lost lights and we will be doing the pollen filter housing on that also. He has just fitted new front shocks and CV joints at 208,000 miles and had to use a blow lamp on the pinch bolts, so I will be pulling mine off to grease at the weekend. This is the first suspention parts he has had to replace on his car sofar. From a little phoning about I have got hold of one of the Skoda dealer that did a servis at 76,000 miles and they also replaced the front drop links at 78,000 miles too. My car is on longlife servise and I only have stamps at 20,000 and 76,000 miles, and only have receipt for the 76,000 mile one. Are they every 20,000 miles of is it flexable. I will be doing servising at about 8-10,0000 miles, can I reset car to time/distance on the dash myself, and should I stick with VW 507 oil or can I use VW 505 01? Thanks
  23. Hi all, my name is Bryan and am now owner of a metalic Flamenco Red 2008 57 plate Superb 1.9Ltr 115bhp. Car was purchased as a replacement for my Taxi, as friend has been using one and had little problems with it over the last few years. Ive been lerking for a few weeks and found info very helpful, and purchase a car that had leaked and had no interior lights working, used this to get £500 of the asking price and I have now done the large bunch of red/white wires, 6 brown/red wires and 6 blue/grey wires in the rear near side footwell and it now all works again. Will be pulling the pinch bolts out and greasing, doing its next servise and a cambelt change once I hear back from the company user when it was changed.
