  1. Yeah pretty much same for me, Android Auto goes on straight away. Just like the idea of the skoda map version up to date, either just incase it's ever used or at the very least with it being fresh.
  2. 😂 £60 and the rest of it is rubbish
  3. Your posts make me laugh with the capitalised words. As you say "if you read through the thread" Ackie confirmed to you it needs a subscription to Skoda connect. THAT'S WHY.
  4. How do you know it doesn't reinstall the same version, if the same version shows and the process doesn't tell you it updates? Haha OK thanks mate, yeah read it all, unzipped to the card, wanted to clarify if any type of message at all pops up. Had audis before this and it usually confirms with a progress bar
  5. OK thanks I'll do just that, seems silly how on system info you press update you'd expect it to then read the card and confirm the version it's about to update to. Rather than just stick the card in, which the skoda guide does say, I was just expecting some sort of confirmation at the very least. Took a photo of my sysinfo, 23.2 current nav version will see how it goes.
  6. Hi, I've done all this and put my usb with usb c adapter into my Kamiq. Nothing is showing on the screen, and going into system info and update shows nothing either However the sd card light is flashing away, is it updating if that's the case, just the infotainment isn't telling me?
  7. Yeah the protector I wanted purely because of its secondary benefit stating about not having any fingerprints. Since I've had it installed, not once has a print been left and still looks like I've cleaned it each time. The one they sell for the speedo is massively overkilled indeed.
  8. So had my Kamiq for 8 days now, just wanted to share a few extras that I feel are worth having for any new owners, or even current ones.....and to add a post to this forum which seems fairly quiet! 1 - Screen protector for the infotainment, it's basically the same as you would use on your mobile phone, but moreso the added benefit is that now there are hardly any fingerprint marks at all when using with it. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BD4NJYZN?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 They do a protector for the speedo aswell but didn't bother with that one, don't think it's neccessary 2 - All weather rubber mats. As nice as carpet ones are, I use all weather all year round. Simple to keep clean, carpet is nice of course, but not worrying about any type of wet or dirt on my footwear is a plus point. Got the fronts and rears from https://skodapartsdirect.co.uk and managed to find the rubber boot mat on an Amazon Warehouse deal for £50. Was down as having scratches, but it's hardly got any at all. And so what if it had, it's in the boot about to get marked all the time. 3 - cargo netting in the boot comes in handy, was about to buy them as I had previously in my Audi A3 - but kept the A3 one, and luckily it actually fits in there fine to use. These nets always come in handy for securing stuff from rolling around in the boot 4 - Valve caps - managed to get these on Amazon for only £6.99 - officially they seem to sell for £25. But be sure to use some wd-40 / wd-40 lithium within the thread of the cap to avoid any corrossion sticking metal to metal https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B076BVBB9K?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details 5 - Dashcam, fitted a Nextbase 522GW from the previous car. Easy to do front, reverse rear was a little harder. I've seen people unscrew the tailgate to make it nice and neat, but managed to avoid all that and still end up nice and neat. Will do a youtube video eventually on it.
  9. ryan-vrs replied to MickA's topic in Å koda Kamiq
I've recently jointed the Kamiq gang and have 1.5 manual (no a fan of dsg/stronic) - the gearbox is lovely and smooth to shift I think. Reverse will crunch a little if you haven't completely stopped still, the Audi A3 I had previously didn't do this but apart from that all good.
  10. Lucky have a carport so was under cover nice n dry...... Don't worry about terminology I'm as bad.... So yes the sound proofing (the felty type stuff yeah?) underneath there are plenty of gaps to put the wiring in. This was the easiest part of the lot underneath and across to the right hand fuse box. So along the roof you can just prise it open just enough for the wiring to push through, where it can then be held enough. Going down the left pillar then, again prising the plastic trim just enough for the wire, then pushing the rest of the wire down near enough prises open the trim as you go down. It's also covered by the rubber door seal. Then before cutting across underneath the dash from left to right, theres a joint between the pillar trim and the floor trim, ended up tucking the cable between the joint, and under the dash, tucked under then all the way from left to right. I'll do a quick video tomorrow and put it up on YouTube.
  11. Did exactly that earlier this morning, front camera wasn't too hard at all. Camera behind mirror on left side, was going to do the right as I had in my Audi A3 but with the Kamiq it obscured a little too much vision, so opted on the left. Wiring tucked nicely along the top, down the left pillar, around door edge, straight under dash all hidden to the fuse box piggy backed in number 43 as you guys mentioned (wiper). Used a couple of cable ties for the slack then and tucked tightly near the fuse box, hate hearing any rattles such as possibly the wires being loose tapping. The rear camera proved most difficult, managed to just about squeeze cable again along top left of windscreen, down the same left pillar, down door edge, and then cutting across the lower floor trim straight to rear seat. Was stuck at the rear seat for sometime trying to figure out the best neatest way of doing it, and if going up n down too much it would have been short for the camera itself. Wire shows a few cm near rear seat, rear window edge, along the inside of the trim going into the boot, and then just about had enough to tuck under the rear window trim. If anyone uses the nextbase rear camera, you may know it uses a rubbish design of a magnet holding the camera. Each time you close the boot, the camera can sometimes move any direction and not be facing the rear correctly at all. So once lined up, personally I used once again some epoxy resin glue to hold the camera on the magnet in place, letting it set for 24 hours. It won't budge then with any boot closing. Might do a YouTube vid on all this, seeing as there isn't really much for a Kamiq. Fuse 43 did someone say it turns off during stop start? Which might be annoying, especially if an incident happened with it being off. But usually I turn off stop start anyway.
  12. will be doing this myself at the weekend, so thanks for all the tips n images on this I've got a Nextbase 522GW with the rear camera on the back window (not the in cabin one) - which at first had lots of freezing issues, but after multiple firmware updates it's been a solid crystal clear cam to own.
  13. Hi Had to even update my email address it's been that long, had an Octavia VRS when on here, been through a couple of cars since but leaving my trusty 6 year old Audi A3 as I no longer need a diesel. Checked out what Skodas have a fair oomph to them without being fast n furious like, and opted for a non hatchback for a change with that of a Kamiq Monte Carlo. Only negative which I can live with are the oldskool air con rotary dials, you'd think they would have stuck in a simple digital one, although the ones where you control the fan speed via the main display unit would drive me mental, nice to see the 2024 revamp has sense to fit fan speed buttons Anyway, went for the blue as it shows the black detail better. Was close to going all black stealth like but A) Already have a black car for 6 years and fancied a chance and B ) All black didn't show the actual black monte carlo details Looking forward to hopefully trouble free times! Went for the manual, as after owning an Audi with an stronic that had a mechatronic £4k failure (luckily covered under warranty) I've been scared for life not to get another vw/audi aka dsg/stronic auto, and quite like a manual anyway
