  1. There is a big difference with first generation Kia Soul EV,s and not much range then the 2nd generation and more range and the excellent latest ones. Much cheapness early ones were what I tried a few years back. Getting just the range a MINI electric does with them.
  2. 2035 before anyone needs to be concerned at not getting a new ICE car in the UK and then years before there might be any issue on purchasing fuel for them. How prices go before then, or where they can be driven or parked is anyone's guess. How much choice there is of ICE vehicles to purchase new in the UK is again anyones guess, It is just as well the countries in the British Isles are not short of vehicles for seeing drivers through another 2 decades.
  3. Merry Christmas. The point is Scotland is not different, it is a big place and different in different regions. Like in the RofUK. Diverse. Diverse for EV charging and so far in all of the UK car park fires seem rare. Death by EV electricity in garages and body shops as well. Maybe more specialist body repairers of EV,s are coming. And like JLR are doing, arranging Insurance Under writers. Things are moving for what the future brings. People just need to open their minds and think. Maybe stop thinking others do not think before purchases and their situation. Locations, or abilities.
  4. 'At most filling stations' What crap, maybe there is a majority of such places and we know where, but what about the siingle maned / womaned places. But like i say, maybe local places or places people know where there is help available. Disabled drivers know about such stuff. The dude in the video has head for thinking and feet for dancing on the pedals. When having balanced discussions best think, or try walking in others shoes. Next time filling up see how you would get stopped at a pump or before going to a pump, getting the chair out and going to an intercom or flash your lights, or phone the kiosk . ** Clear displayed phone numbers on the filling station forecourt would be 'simply clever'.** and then get your assistance filling up. Maybe. Do that at out of hours but open self service places. The Security / safety people might appear at that ASDA> Point being there are all sorts of issues for all sorts of people.
  5. ^^^ Great. The dude is up my way lots borrowing cars to review and having a wee thrash on my local roads. He will know or should know that disabled drivers, ones really with mobility problems can have issues fuelling ICE vehicles at filling stations anyplace, Capital Cities, cities, towns or rural. Rural and small filling stations and local places for local or visitors might be where help is available. Lots of EV,s out to the tens of thousands of Motability Customers and home chargers provided and home charging might suit many rather than an ICE and filling stations. Truth of the matter though, Public EV charging for Wheel Chair users and others is a disaster and going to be for a very long time, and as for BP Pulse and free subscription that Motability pay for with others money, not good because BP Pulse and their chargers and system is so bad. .................... 14 months over time fro the expected completion and many months away from any possibility of opening. *The chargers that were there are faulty or removed. The TESLA Superchargers are there and working OK, what a shame not a part of TESLA non Tesla so that there is charging available.*
  6. This morning. 15% and 10 miles range at 10*oC. It took 70 minutes on a slow 50 kW CCS to get to 100%. Charging free. 27.35 kWh. Showing 96 mile range.
  7. The thing is when you do compare with maybe dealership demonstrators or journalists / bloggers at Skoda car launches or any new car launch is. You need to check and set the tyre pressures. Really because often they are over inflated. I have yet to see a journalist collect a car and get out a tyre pressure guage. Sometimes not even check which car has which tyres. It annoys me when they comment on the ride and do not know what the vehicles pressured are at. Or even what a non Media Department car is like, the ones people will have delivered.
  8. When the UK insurers finally accepted that Winter tyres / wheels is a good thing and not to penalise the insured for fitting that was and is a good thing. Winter tyres, and now many might have All Season / All weather. The thing is that they do not define Winter as a season or the months. There are those like me that kept the Winter / Snow tyres on all year. So running in hot weather, summer or when ever, or maybe keeping on and going abroad. Because of that to get use the sand Speed / load rated tyres as the OME summer / ECO bias tyres. Winter tyres like puppies might not just bs for Christmas.
  9. @Graham Butcher honestly your down south personal experience is not everyone's. Trading in cars is my HOBBY. That is just incase anyone at HMRC is online. Asking prices are just that. And every seller is not a Dealer, trader or hobbiest. And cash from in the pocket, or in several pockets is often the best offer they get. Remember which pocket you have which amount in and you can not go above. Ps. Sitting charging and started with 15% and 10 mile range at 8.10, now 8.41 am and 83%. Off to buy a used car 50 miles away on Christmas eve and expecting to be giving at least £500 below asking price and if not then no skin off my nose or the person the car is for. PPS, almost at 99%, 60 minutes on a not very RAPID rapid charger. RE the car I am going to see. If they do not want to accept my offer they have my number. But if I have to go back it is £750 less than what I am offering now that is all I will be offering / paying. Take it or not.
  10. Not a car for sale only because a mod removed that post. So sorry for my reply to that still showing. But the entry is now missing. Was it not breaking or repair £2,500?
  11. Uk Motoring journalists and reviewers went on about them before launch at overseas media jollies / all inclusive. All b0llocks really as they were not to be an option in the UK. These articles will be around for the Scalla & Kamiq. Maybe even in the first threads in these sections on Briskoda, If you need higher ground clearance then you need it, for all the difference, EDIT. This is on page 12. sorry could not link. there are other threads as well.
  12. @lol-lolCo-developed with TESLA is what strikes my interest.
  13. For many years in cars i use or that are used seldom in winter but maybe sitting during many days of frosts and condensation i have a Greenhouse heater set just about 3*oC. That stops the glass icing inside or out. Usually i have wind deflectors so the window is down a couple of mm. Good if the car is damp inside after use, just turn up the setting a bit. & damp traps.
  14. The sizes with the H Speed rating are about the size that the Skoda Spare wheels come with. I should have said older cars, low powered and with narrow tyres commonly had the lower speed rating. Speed ratings are not just chosen because of top speeds / max speeds but other stresses on them, tyre shreading 115 ps etc and cornering forces,
  15. I might check out the one in Cupar next week.
  16. 426 EV,s when you put the price at £9,000 which you do because asking prices are a dream and a wish and not buying prices. Maybe not all are EV,s but most are.
  17. Plenty cheap Stallantis EV,s about or MG,s.
  18. ? Where are you in Scotland? Just incase i can recommend a mechanic. The 1.8 TSI engine issues and high oil use is covered in the many threads, The pinned one on 1.8 & 2.0 TSI at the top of the Octavia Section is worth a look. The DSG is a 7 speed twin dry clutch has not been serviced if that is what you have has it? Maybe it got Service Campaign '34F7' free sometime after 2014. A sticker in the boot will say. Servicing. Any record of when the Spark Plugs were last replaced?
  19. @IOMWelcome to the forum. Skoda UK or CZ or anyplace else with a 2 or 3 year manufacturers warranty have no interest or reason to with your DSG making a noise when you of warranty. Now the Warranty does cover clutches in DSG,s and that is in the Warranty T&C.s. Good in world regions with long Manufacturers Warranty. eg Australia. A DSG need not cost a fortune to have repairs on at Automatic Specialists after a diagnostic as to what is wrong. It might at a Skoda Maindealers and they might not even do the work but farm it out.
  20. I think the only ones with a H from the factory are fitted to the spare steel wheels. Or on a Citigo. @Carlstonwill know.
  21. e-Up! not early ones, the later sister e-Up!, SEAT Mii electric or the Skoda Citigo iV. Care needs taken that the is the speed of charging you need with the AC onboard charger. The issue was with some Mii electics and Citigo iv,s They are rather good for the range they get.
  22. 85 miles range only from 100% starting out from freezing and not pre conditioned. Temps from 0 to 3degrees until last 10 miles and it went to 8 C. Charge place Scotland chargers out of order. On a BP Pulse to get to 90% to get to a Tesla Supercharger and Tesla non Tesla. Was on 60 mph and 70 mph limits. Now all 70 limits. It was torrential and sleet, now drizzle and warmer. Getting a good charging speed to 90 % is ok when able to get onto a 50 kW charger. Need to charge twice more today at 40 minutes a time. EDIT. PS 2nd BP Pulse charging was terrible. Weather for the ARK and 5 chargers. i was om the 3rd charger before getting a charge about 30 minutes after arriving. The Charger numbers would not come up on the phone app, and then my phone was soaking. The RFID car would not work on the soaking touch screens. I was not going to tap a Credit / Debit card and pay 85 pence a kWh instead of 69 pence but eventually did as needed to get moving. That did not work. Eventually in the car totally soaked i got through to BP Pulse. The 10 minutes of bad connection, getting through security and year i joined etc, he was not interested in Card Number, Subscription new, Motability arranged etc. Wanted the year i first joined 2019, different e-mail etc. So eventually after nearly 1 hour the charger was started remotely. That was about £11 for that charge, 5 times now this card has not worked and they say nothing wrong with it and they will not replace it. They will next week once my e-mail is with Motability and my reviews are online. Checked my history for today and it was 2 failed to start charging 1st location today and 5 tiimes at the 2nd Service Area. 1 other session on a CPS charger was 55 pence a kWh and 16 kWh taken. Worked first time and a good speed. Now sitting with 15 miles range and can not be bothered going to a charger will do it very early tomorrow for free. Weather if just horribly wet.
  23. Margaret Thatcher was against the diesel being introduced as being a good fuel for passenger cars, was it not Cecil Parkinson or Micheal Heseltine that was all for it. Her having an education in Science and having being a Transport Secretary of state. (EDIT, My false memory there as it seems it was Norman Fowler that was the Transport Secretary, George Osborne's father in law and a Lord still the friend of the Oil Companies and a wealthy man from the work he did and does for them. http://bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-politics-18492742
  24. @Graham ButcherThee more i try to figure out the NZ Beach House the less i am any the wiser. Like the guy in the VId or you. I like the tractor though. PS AS to the UK, Land / Fields at a side of a road are fields at a side of a road, when you buy the land that is what you own. There might be a pavement already there or a pavement might get built if there was nothing there before only a verge / ditch and fences. That land at the side of the roads is public land usually, and gets crossed to get access to land, over a yard as i remember but it could be 5 feet.
