  1. I'd love to take credit for this "good idea" but in honesty it was actually a bit of a lazy discovery. i moved them under the bonnet when fitting the sidelights and then when i went to finish removing them i noticed they had both stuck to rather convenient spots in the engine bay and i realised they had a use so kept them
  2. concerning pictures go see my new project thread as i will be posting all my pictures on there as things change
  3. Now the first things i did when i got the car home were change the lights to LED (interior, sidelights, reverse, numberplate, footwells) and i have got my HID kits to install still. but it will probably be this weekend before i get round to fitting them. I also pulled the led DRL strips off the headlamps as they look naff so instead of unwiring them i decided to leave them attached but simply place them under the bonnet in key locations so if i am under the bonnet after dark and switch on my sidelights i will have 2 led work lights haha After making these changes my focus then went to polishing her and giving the car a blitz this last weekend. as after communting 50 miles a day for training at work the poor car was filthy and needed some love Once i finished cleaning me and my mate went out for a drive to take a few photo's to get some early snaps before i start making any changes heres the car midway through cleaning (please excuse the building site my house it at the moment) starting to get a bit of shine out of the paintwork there
  4. New Project Thread started :)

  5. now here are the pictures from the pistonheads post of my superb when the dealer first put it up for sale I felt that for the age of the car she was in bloody good condition so after a bit of haggling i got the price right down and had a fresh mot and service thrown in for free
  6. Right im gonna start this off with showing the couple of pics of my first Superb. these were taken when me and my mates decided to drive down to bournemouth overnight and i managed to do the whole trip there and back (over 150 miles) for only £15 of diesel
  7. haha sorry i fell asleep waiting for my damn photo bucket to finish uploading right i will crack on now
  8. Right seeing as i have now got my new Superb and i will soon begin making my changes to the car i figured its time to start a new build thread. in case any of you didnt see i had a superb already and sadly had an accident involving some very unpleasant road conditions which resulted in the poor skoda being left a bit worse for wear.. But after a short yet unpleasant period of driving a french car which i purchased for a unbeatable £200. I started my new job with the police in the new year so figured it'd be the perfect time for me to take the plunge and get another skoda. So a local garage i have been visiting for some time now have had a superb for a while now as it belonged to one of their mechanics so every time i went past it caught my eye for all the right reasons. then when i finally decided it was the car for me i haggled the price down to a fair deal around the 2 grand mark. She is a Skoda Superb 2.5tdi v6 Comfort. MANUAL  85,000 miles, 6 months tax, 12 months mot and a fresh service just done. comes with a warrenty and being my friend Mark (who runs the garage) said if any problems arrise he will make sure they do all they can to fix it. mainly because he loves the car and secondly he doesnt wanna upset PCSO Chapman But shhh.. dont tell him i aint a real copper hehe Anyways enough rambling on and lets get started with some pictures
  9. Well its safe to say my better half doesnt drive a Honda Jazz just yet lol shes the lucky owner of a Fabia But thats just me being a bad influence on her haha Now in relation to the Superb, well... she is Superb! Im so pleased with the performance, the smooth ride and just the overall condition of the car. im so happy with it and will be making another Project thread as i start to get the ball rolling to keep all my things in one place Thanks for all the comments guys!
  10. right thanks for the comments guys. i am sadly gonna confess i am buying it :P i went with my heart and for the better side of £2k i wasnt gonna turn down such a promising deal. the car is a manual just to silence the comments about the wear on an auto box. and i can 100% garuntee it will not be doing any towing. i only wish to keep the car for 2 years then will get something newer. (fl octavia II vrs) I will be uploading pictures when i pick it up. its going for a fresh MoT tomorrow and will be getting a decent service too while it is there. i will then valet it when i pick it up and make my subtle aditions over time. dont expect it to remain standard :P
  11. hi guys, its been a while since i was last on here and i doubt anyone will remember me. But basically i used to have a 1.9 pd100 superb up until october and i sadly sold it as it needed so many repairs and by this point it also required mot and tax. so i decided to part with it and buy a cheap run around for a few months. Anyways i stupidly purchased my friends old peugeot 306 diesel for £200 with tax and mot. but im now sick of driving such a horrible and unreliable banger i want another superb. and i am now in a much better financial situation as i no longer study and work part time instead im a full time employee of thames valley police So.. my situation i find myself in is this. i have been offered a fantastic deal from a friend of mine who runs a local used car garage. he has in stock a 2002 superb 2.5tdi. 85k miles, FSH, silver. it is immaculate inside and out and everything works as it should. and its 2 previous owners. 1 was a local van dealership who baught it new as part of a fleet and then sold it on for a profit and then the second owner was the mechanic who works at the garage who looked after it fantastic. I understand many will tell me that im stupid or not being practical by choosing a 2.5 over the 1.9 or by not getting the pd130 but i have to admit i had the 1.9 and it was good for its strengths were amazing but i cant help but admit there wont be a decent 130 for the same price i've been offered. The deal includes a fresh Mot, a full service, a full professional valet, any work that will need doing within 10k miles will be done before purchase for safety measure, a full 12 month warrenty. Now i am on the verge of signing the dotted line and getting this car on my drive way. but i would like to know what to look out for or what to get replaced or upgraded. other than the obvious ones i have already been aware from the 1.9 such as the water ingress.
  12. i had a similar problem not long ago and it was leaking slowly into the car i believed it was coming from the air con vents for the footwells and i was told it could of been a heater matrix with a hole in which would leak over time. so i simply put some radweld in the resevoir and drove it through and it sealed the leak and havent lost any coolant since
  13. hi all, i have a 2004 1.9 tdi 100 which was my dads taxi for an endless amount of miles and since him passing it down to me when he upgraded its been a great running car. But a couple of weeks back i drove home from work and then noticed a lack of boost from the turbo. it felt as if i left my turbo at work and it has been completely slugish since that night. It has had a new MAP sensor and a new boost pressure regulator fitted by myself last week as i had a local garage i used to work for scan it to check what the management light was caused by and that said n75 - boost pressure regulator. Since then i had the light cleared after i fitted the n75 and yet it hasnt resolved the issue. Any more guesses what is causing this? I have noticed a split in my flexi on the exhaust? maybe the cat is blocked and causing a build up of pressure somewhere but i dont know much on this subject so hopefully one of you guys could help?
  14. yeah im local to wantage it was my dads taxi around wantage for a long time before i sadly got my hands on it but yes the same bend by metal box on what i could only describe as a very suprisingly slippery night :p But the car is still going strong regardless of the inprovised passat windows courtesy of the local scrappy and a few dents and cosmetic scars.
  15. looking good there keep up the good work
  16. on the topic of changing the dash trim colour. i changed mine as i had the pd100 classic trim which was just plain plastic so wrapped it in gloss black vinyl wrap i purchased off the Bay and once i wrapped it all i was impressed at the big improvement it made.. looked very similar to the trim from the edition 100 superbs. soon im gonna buy some silver vinyl wrap to retrim the dash again as i would like to try and replicate the silver trim you get in modern cars such as that in my dads 2009 highline passat. if it doesnt look good i will simply peel the wrap off and buy another colour :-) a simple and ratehr cost effective way of improving the appearance of the interior. This is the gloss black interior trim in the edition 100 which is how mine looked once it was wrapped.
  17. on a side note. i am now waiting on the delivery of a new temp sensor. and then ordering a new map sensor and MAF sensor and also a new fuel filter. These will hopefully regain the lost mpg when acompanied by my EGR blanking plates. i will be removing the EGR valve and cleaning it and the inlet to make sure there is no build up before fitting the blanking plates to cut the gasses off from entering th egr and will then be getting a remap sorted out which deletes the EGR system from the ECU completely to avoid any future problems. also will get some pics up of how the car looks now once i finish cleaning her. :sun:
  18. well that depends on what you need i have a few things nocking around that may be of use to you. if not i have limited skills you can use for your gains lol
  19. well looking at the uncertainty related to work im all up for going seeing as its just down the road from me i would love for this to be my first propper day out with the car so im looking forward to it As for paying i will be looking to pay on the gate incase something bad comes along. Touch wood. so i'll get my name down after easter
  20. yeah i have been told i either have a hole in the fuel tank or im losing the plot and only imagining to fill it up when i do lol How much would you want to fit the springs? lol
  21. hi i have an issue with my car drinking fuel at a rediculous rate. either its pouring out somewhere or overfueling but it doesnt smoke at all and performance is pretty much what i'd expect it to be. here is part from my project thread explaining: "when i crashed something happened which now causes terrible fuel economy. i mean **** economy. similar to what my brother got from his old 2000 turbo subaru :wonder: my average mpg reading is between 20-25 mpg when i drive like a propper nightmare slow driver and then driving it hard i get 15-20mpg. as i do when its running cold. and when its doing long distance (50 mile trips ect) it averages 30-35 mpg. and the highest i got was half an hour of 60-65mph where i got an impressive 39.8mpg But in all seriousness my dad who owned it for all its life before me said that around town when a taxi it was at lowest bringing back 30-35 mpg. and long journeys 45-50mpg. so as you can imagine im constantly skint due to paying 1.45 a litre and pouring down the drain. Any guesses to what is causing it would be appreciated. but i will mention the egr valve was replaced only around 10k-15k miles ago so is unlikely to be at fault" if anyone can guess what may be causing the issue i would then be able to put it forward to a mechanic to check the potential fault because at the moment the issue is to general to be able to check without costs being high for time. Also i may also add that i had a vagcom scan done not long ago buy a member and it didnt really come back with much other than fuel pump something wasnt responding but i believe thats supposed to be there lol i can supply my VCDS print out if needed. Thanks. Tom.
  22. oh also i forgot to mention that the millage has now rolled over to 285,000! yet still starts at the turn of the key and pulls like it did out of the factory. Only engine problem i do have is when i crashed something happened which now causes terrible fuel economy. i mean **** economy. similar to what my brother got from his old 2000 turbo subaru :wonder: my average mpg reading is between 20-25 mpg when i drive like a propper nightmare slow driver and then driving it hard i get 15-20mpg. as i do when its running cold. and when its doing long distance (50 mile trips ect) it averages 30-35 mpg. and the highest i got was half an hour of 60-65mph where i got an impressive 39.8mpg But in all seriousness my dad who owned it for all its life before me said that around town when a taxi it was at lowest bringing back 30-35 mpg. and long journeys 45-50mpg. so as you can imagine im constantly skint due to paying 1.45 a litre and pouring down the drain. Any guesses to what is causing it would be appreciated. but i will mention the egr valve was replaced only around 10k-15k miles ago so is unlikely to be at fault but never the less i am looking at blanking and deleting the egr valve completely as i may be remapping the car soon in a hope to improve the economy a lil and give me the extra go i need to be able to actually overtake people lol
  23. im in the process of putting the car back up to scratch but seeing as im studying im only able to work part time and therefore money is tight for fixing stuff. i have fitted LED sidelights along with some HID Xenon bulbs in the Projectors as my halogen bulbs decided they had enough of life. i also have a set of 35mm lowering springs sat in the box waiting till i find someone brave enough to fit them as i cant afford the local garage prices lol. since the last update i have all the alloys fitted again so it looks far better than the front steel look it was sporting. Still has the crash damage as my hunt for the driver side doors continues. Which also means the gaffa tape is still holding the window on in the back lol once the doors have been replaced i will have some wind deflectors and rear tints sorted out but thats on hold until i sort out the doors I have some more pictures to upload when i get round to actually pulling my finger out and loading them off my camera lol
  24. hey guys im in a tight spot lately as i've been needing to replace both the driver side doors on my superb due to a number of issues after a lovely colision back in december. :'( Here is a list of the issues i have grown to live with: The drivers door exterior handle is b***xed to say the least. it doesnt work at all so to get into the drivers seat you either have to climb over the passenger side or lean over from passenger side or rear and open from the interior door release. The drivers window regulator also took some damage and has chewed through its original cable and also a £35 replacement cable as soon as i fitted it so this was a kick to the teeth.. The rear drivers door has soom nasty cosmetic damage including a number of dents and creases and the lower door trim is hanging on after one of the clips no longer hold in place. Also the plasitc trim half way up the door is now mishaped. Neither the drivers windows are original. They aren't even skoda! they came from a passat as that was the best my local breaker could offer at the time and seeing as my lovely skoda windows were in very tiny pieces scattered around the car i had no other choice. the rear doesnt even fit the shape of the door in the corners so i have to use gaffa tape to make them weather proof. My preferable resolution to all this is to simply replace both doors and scrap these two. but this is proving to be a royal pain in the ass as all my local srap dealers haven't had any superbs in for a long time and show not much chance of getting any in a hurry. the next option was trying ebay but the prices on there are rediculous as they want postage to be added including charges for them stripping the parts in the first place so they want around £100 for a door shell alone (robbing b*****ds ) where as my local breaker would charge me £50 for both doors lol If anybody has a local scap yard that has a superb in could you quote a price and location and also i would prefer it to be silver to match the car to avoid unneccisary painting costs. consider this an easter egg hunt.
