  1. Hi guys, so my service is due on my TDI vrs, I'm taking it to my local Indy who specialising in rally cars. They also have the latest Hunter machine so I trust this garage know what they are as they have dealt wi my dad and brother on a few occasions.

Thing I'm confused with is how do they know what needs doing to the car at a specific mileage and can they change the service interval from variable to fixed?

I have asked the owner how it works and he did say something along the lines if some database and as long as we know the mileage we can carry out the relevant service at an hourly rate plus parts.

What do you guys think, it's provisionally booked it in for Monday possibly to get an alignment check too.

  2. EM

Aren't windscreens two pieces of glass laminated with a sheet of plastic between them. If so then if the crack is on the inside I would positively suspect the dealer has whacked it from inside, maybe not the mirror but possibly a tool, ratchet, spanner, extension bar? I would have a really close look and feel to work out which side the crack is on as this would surely shift the bias towards dealer fault.

  3. I asked my dealer and they can freshen the air on system for a small fee, I asked how it works and its basically an antibacterial spray which is circulated around the cabin and all the vent ducting. It was something like £30.

I didn't have the time to drop the car in so I fitted a new pollen filter and bought a can of that air con freshner from halfords, just press the button, leave it in the car for a couple mins with fans on max

  4. Yes TV is sound source, SKY box>HDMI Cable>TV>Optical cable>Sony Surround

Onkyo Amplifier R-805TX, CD deck C-705TX.

    QUAD Speakers 77-11L

Sony Surround System DAV-DZ830W oops seems to be a bit more than 300 watts, never ever looked up the specs as It was second hand when I got it.

Do you want the TV specs, its a modern Samsung should cope with anything from analogue to digital.

  5. Hi guys, so I finally got my dads old Hifi system its on old Onkyo AV receiver with a separate CD deck and a pair of QUAD 100W speakers. There is no HDMI input or optical in, its all AUX inputs.

I currently have a 300W Sony 5.1 Surround system which I use with my Sky box and tv, I have all four corner speakers up on the walls around my living room, the centre one in front of the TV and the sub is beside the far off sofa out of sight.

The QUAD speakers sound amazing compared to my sony system so I would really like to use these somehow. I was wondering if I should chuck the Surrounds out and just go stereo. Or is there a way to swap the 2 front surrounds out for the QUAD speakers so in essence I still have 5.1 but better front speakers.

Help me work out how to make use of this system, or advise on some other use for it, I also have a wall mounted Sony 40 inch in the bedroom I could use the speakers for but I hardly use it. Next step is hooking it all up to my computer for some really big explosions in BF3
