  1. I'd check tyre pressures, you may be resetting the tyre to a low pressure and just telling car that it is ok. Its the difference in trye rotation that triggers alert.
  2. Presented with a lot of warning lights the other day in the middle of a short trip - ABS, Brake, Power steering, TCS, ESC, AFS! I have a vagcom Hex Interface and was able to scan for faults. Came back immediatly after reset. I thought that it may be the battery as odd stuff can happen if battery is low. After much reasearch I was inclined to check the rear left wheel speed sensor - All looked fine - Easy to reach just behind wheel. Sprayed the heck out of it with some liquid maintenance and waited a while. Took it for test drive and all warning lights are now out. Thanks too all the web sites and utube info I was able to fix it myself and will be able to replace the sensor. New sensor ordered - Ebay. 3. Previously had a Octavia 1.9pd. Now rocking with superb 2.0 Tdi (170) I'd say no difference in running costs for me. Economy is slightly worse 45+ mpg from Superb, 50+ mpg octy (mostly dual carrageway). However the comfort, space etc. more than makes up for it. Not seeing any real change for other costs servicing, insurance etc. If the cars were same age etc. I would go Superb. This thing is vast in the boot and rear seat accomodation.
  4. A quick update, Snow performance is brilliant! This is the best upgrade I have done to a car. These tyre also resist aquaplaning really well, I can feel no difference to dry grip - I dont go fast these days, but the ride is so much better. Occasional rumble on certain surfaces but way better most of the time. Couple of jobs left to do, Drivers side heated seat not working and boot hatch lifters to overhaul they work but are slow and getting noisy. Will do it soon followinh the posted guide on here. Simply put - It's Superb... (Heh heh)!
  5. Very little difference that I could tell between Est and hatch. Tho wasnt VRS models I tried. Might have ben on a race track. I had 1.9tdi hatch and 2.0tdi estate. If you need the extra space in the estate i would get that. Hope it helps.
  6. Indeed. I had hoped so. I live up a mile long farm track which is pretty rough and we get a lot of snow here as well - I'm hoping they will cut through the snow better. I didnt feel any undue flex on a slightly more spirited drive home luckily. It did handle the track so much smoother. It has "Softened" the turn in a bit but without feeling at all under tyred. No increase in understeer. Will try to remember to post follow ups later if any issues occur. If conditions get bad enough then I have a Yeti to fall back on. Only time I got the Yeti stuck was a couple of feet of snow and the car rafted up on it.
  7. I had no issues at all. took a couple of weeks to get here. Hope this helps

  9. Just got home from changing 18" (Rainsports 2) to 16" wheels with Michelin Crossclimate 2's. IT's SO MUCH BETTER! Granted on a track the 18"s would be better - but on the road - wow! Quieter, much less harsh vibes + tyres way cheaper. I thought the 18s were a little to "twitchy" and they droned like heck on any but the smoothest surfaces. Yep looks like a taxi but I dont care. Recommended!
  10. A quick update driving well, tyre noise on the 18" wheels is bad unless the road surface is smooth - I'm going to get replacement wheels with either all season or winter tyres on. Not made up my mind yet on which. Thinking 16" as live up a farm track and extra sidewall = good. 170hp model so hoping can find 16" wheels which will clear brake calipers. Dont really care on the looks front - too old to give a damn.
  11. Agreed, but i think the leather seats will be very slick. Any ideas out there?
  12. An excellent win for me I think. New to me Superb Combi 2.0Tdi 170 Elegance, I thought the clutch /DMF felt "odd" with a "tinkle noise and vibes". Car went to local garage who replaced DMF / Clutch. (I went for the DMF as opposed to the SMF to maintain refinement). Got a very full service carried out at same time. ALL fluids, filters and belts. Brake checks (Dealer who supplied car changed out Disks, callipers and pads) suspension etc checked - no sag so springs may have been replaced already. Dampers fine. Brakes very well. Fortunately it came with a SMTA (Scottish Motor Traders assoc) warranty which covered £1000 of the cost to replace so £780 for the rest of the work. At 93k miles the car now feels like new, pulls very well and is very refined. Only got the 18" wheels to change to something smaller with higher profile all season tyres to improve the road noise / refinement. I dont go fast anymore. Many large capacity motorbikes owned berfore so got the "speed" thing well out of my system years ago. I've now spent £6530 to own this large luxury car in excellent condition. Should be reliable and is very comfortable. Just got to work out the Columbus stereo eating my contacts list from phone and I think I'm done for a while. No errors on vag-com either. Win all round I think. Superb I would say!
  13. Fuse is in the right hand side at the end of the dashboard. 3rd row up from the bottom. Cant remember specific one. Sticker inside cover tells you. 25A white one I think.
  14. To new for me to tell, don't carry bottles in there. On the happy front - found the brolly and its skoda original. Like new. Got bluetooth module working by recoding it to English. Can now use Moby.
  15. My old Octavia MK2 Elegance (2005) was great did 100k in it (1.9PD). Tin worm has eatent it at bottom of doors and sills. Plus many other little issues adding up to a lot of cash to fix. So - I bought a 90k Superb 2 Elegance 170 Estate. Claret with cream Leather interior. In excellent condition. Got a few things to do to bring it up to spec. Full service history and everything works so far. I also have a 2017 Yeti 150 SE L and the ride is a fair bit softer in the Superb. I have a vagcom so made good sense to stick with Skoda. Gonna have a good look round tomorrow and find all the hidden gems.. Dammit forgot to look for brolly! Browsing all the Superb info here.
  16. Great stuff, I'll go see if i an measure and fit something. Yep, I agree with nearly all the above. Overall tho a great car.
  17. No matter how hard I try the door sills always get dirty and gets on our legs getting in or out. Bloody annoying. I had many X-Trails and the doors came low enough to cover the sills. Much better design. Anything else gets your goat?
  18. Little update Had my first night drive. Good lights. The corner "following" is nice, subtle. Need to put lights on manually rather than auto setting to allow fogs to be used. Turns out it does have folding mirrors - well hidden from drivers seat! Having used them once they now fold in when locking car with long key press. That didn't happen before! They do grip the road rather well Zed

    Spare wheel

Funnily enough I just checked mine. The space saver is a decent size a 195 wide tyre. Think you can get them on ebay as a full kit with the jack and the foam insert. The 4wd model may be different from the 2 wd version. Good luck.
  20. Not been on for a while, just added to my collection. Jungle Green, 9088 Miles. Only had it a couple of days all seems great so far! Our poor old Octavia 2005 1.9 PD Elegance is getting on a bit 114k miles so time for another. Keeping the Old girl as "spare car" Will post pics when I get chance Zednine
  21. I had the airbag light on and Skoda fixed for me at dealer prices - ow! However it came back a year later... After checking connectors etc. Same issue. VCDS gave me error for too high resistance to airbag on drivers door. I read all the posts and eventually checked the wires at the drivers door hinge. The Airbag wire had been crimped. Not badly done but.. So cut the crimp out, after stripping the wires back I found that there was some corrosion in the wire Black oxidisation.) I cut back wire far enough to find good clean copper. Made a good solder joint at both ends. Heat shrunk the connection then reset with VCDS again. SORTED. Why does this kind of thing always happen right before MOT? Anyway. Might help someone else. Check the wires in the door hinges under the rubber boot. look for cracking of the insulation - may not be broken but may have allowed corrosion. Worth a look before putting to garage - saved myself a few quid. Does help to pay for the VCDS. 2005 1,9PD Elegance. Sailed through MOT... Yippee
