  1. Think you need to rotate the crank pulley a full 4 turns to get the timing marks to line up (4 stroke) but like you say it definitely sounds like you've disturbed the cam shaft sensor / wiring
  2. What ended up being the issue with the cam belt? I usually just clean the pick up pipe with brake cleaner and refit. No need to replace unless its damaged.
  3. Possibly. Mines had various suspension setups over the years so has always been quite stiff. I presumed that was the cause but its probably just a design flaw.
  4. I used Dr magic carpet and rug cleaner on my carpet which worked quite well but as you've already got a black carpet and the white one is out I'd just fit the black one and have done with it.
  5. Mine was the same, sealer cracks along the roof join. Common fault I think.
  6. What part number is coming up for the fronts? The guy at DT said they wouldn't fit although the website said they would...
  7. Thanks. They are the rears which I think are the same for all mk1 Octavia models. It's the fronts I'm struggling with.... When I called Demon tweaks they told me B4's dont fit the VRS although that can't be true as nice niceyellowvrs had them on his car!
  8. Do you know what the part numbers were for your B4's by any chance? Trying to get some for mine but a few companies I've spoken to say that B4's aren't available for the mk1. Thanks.
  9. Part number on my euro car parts receipt is 710443307 but that might be their part number. It was £91.64 inc vat. My car is a 2002 VRS
  10. I got all these codes the other month, engine management light was on and the car was running rough. The previous owner had fitted a new front sensor about 6 months earlier (NGK) so I was reluctant to think it was at fault. Hours and hours of tracing the wiring back to the ECU, replacing engine earths, resistance tests on the plug / pins etc I finally chucked the towel in and ordered a brand new Bosch sensor from ecp. Cured the fault and the car now runs miles better.
  11. What's the ride height like on the H&R's?
  12. Anyone running this kit on a mark 1 VRS? Interested in reviews, ride height , handling etc. Thanks in advance
  13. Rocker cover gasket is probably leaking unless it's already been replaced so check that. Again, unless it's already been replaced, dip stick and tube as the plastic goes brittle, crumbles and all that generally ends up in the sump. Strainer can be cleaned out rather than replaced but it's your call.
  14. Sumps are cheap enough. I'd be replacing it along with a new sump plug. It's a good opportunity to check the oil pump strainer whilst you're there as well as they are prone to clogging up on the 1.8t's.
  15. I thought the sedan already had a 1.8T?
  16. You can't convert a 2wd to 4wd as the floor pan is completely different so you will be better off starting with a 4wd in the first place
  17. It's just cost you a lot less than a two year old 245 would have anyway! As Dean said the advisories are all just cheap fixes.
  18. Yeah, looks like the top and the bottom of the airbox have different part numbers but they appear to match up. Octavia airboxes sell for £30+ whereas the golf ones go for around a fiver! No brainer if they are the same part number...
  19. I'll have a look. Thanks
  20. Anyone know if the VW golf mk4 1.8t gti airbox is the same as the Octavia's or can somebody provide me with the Octavia's part number?? Thanks in advance.
  21. You can buy the rubber antenna gaskets from ebay. Very much doubt it's causing your leak though but if you suspect it you might be best just removing the antenna and re-fitting using silicone sealant as you'll have to remove the antenna to fit a new gasket anyway.
  22. The wiring loom on the oil level sensors sometimes get watèr in and corrode the pins on the plug which causes a short and the fuse to blow. The yellow oil light flashes and beeps 3 times on start up to indicate a fault. Also, as I discovered, there are 2 different types of oil level sensor, both look the same but they are not interchangeable.
