  1. Just noticed that my rear tyres are suffering from the dreaded feathering in the inner edge. Bought the car second hand from the dealer with 21k miles on it at end of April. Tyres looked brand new at that point - think they had replaced them. Its now on 29k miles and inner edge is bald!! I know from looking about on here it seems to be a common issue with all models of octavia. Couple of questions : Is it best going to skoda dealer or an independant to get this checked? Has anyone successfully claimed under warranty for this - I'm thinking they'll say its down to wear and tear plus the fact its now on 29k miles. Lastly does anyone have suggestions of somewhere good in the glasgow area to use?
  2. I usually get 400-450miles from a tank running supermarket 95ron with stage 1 map on my tsi - thats with mixed driving mostly country roads and town. Think driving style makes a bigger difference to economy than what type of fuel is used. Tried shell fuel saver and I don't achieve any better economy!!
  3. Normal 95ron for me. Have tried vpower, super unleaded etc and can't say I notice any difference.
  4. That does look great on the black estate!! Hmmm even more tempted now.....looks quite OE.
  5. Just seen this on ebay : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Front-Splitter-Skoda-Octavia-MK2-RS-After-Facelifting-Front-Bumper-Extension-/290701553831?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43af29b0a7 Whats the opinions guys? Said I wasn't going to mod this car but its always hard to resist lol...started already with the remap.
  6. Revo only did trials on the old 1.8t which I think they've stopped offering now anyway.
  7. Stuart seems a decent guy and has a good mechanical knowledge - heavily into his Porsche tuning! He's being doing Revo for about 8-9 months now I think. Seen good reports on seatcupra.net about him as well.
  8. Had the car remapped using Revo software this morning by Stuart at SP Autobahn in Stirling. I've used Revo software on various cars - both petrol and diesel - over the years and never had any issues. Yet again the software has transformed the vrs feeling stronger throughout the rev range with fantastic pick up in 6th gear at motorway speeds. Stuart was really friendly and knowledgable and managed to book me in at short notice. Would recommend him to anyone looking to get their car remapped in central Scotland!!
  9. Just had the car remapped by Revo today. Feels fantastic now - highly recommended!!
  10. Cheers for the replies guys. Has anyone had their software deleted during dealer servicing??? - I know this happens with other brands??
  11. Loving my vrs but think the chassis could easily cope with a bit more power . Was looking to get a remap but have a couple of questions - car is a 2010 petrol tsi. Am i right in saying that the ecu needs to be removed regardless of what company you go to? Was thinking of Revo software as I've used them for various cars over the years and never had any issues - they also have a dealer near me in Scotland which is a bonus. Also when the car goes into the dealer for a service are they likely to perform any software upgrades that will wipe out the remap?? I've heard of this happening with BMW, Merc, Audi etc? Any advice or opinions greatly appreciated!
  12. I've just retrofitted the oem kit and I am experiencing the same problems when trying to use the phone book. If the entry has two numbers saved - ie work and mobile it shows these at the top of the screen but unable to select them to dial?? I'm using a Blackberry with mine. Anyone any ideas - is it a software issue??
  13. What setting do you go into in vcds to change from headlight activation to the foglights??
  14. but the module is a genuine vag bluetooth unit? I know if you ask dealer they will claim it has to be done at the factory. You could probably order the various parts via the dealer but it would cost a lot more!
  15. Kit itself seems to go for about £200 on ebay. I'm going to fit mine myself so don't know about fitting costs
  16. that looks like more of an aftermarket fitment. The one I was meaning is intergrated through the stereo (Bolero h/unit) and gives full functionality on the maxidot display as well. No need to fit separate display unit.
  17. cheers for the replies. Will get a kit ordered. Collect the car on Friday
  18. Finally bought a vrs and collect it on Friday . It doesn't have bluetooth but was looking at buying an OEM kit off ebay and installing it. Car is a 2010 and has maxidot but do you need the multifunction steering wheel as well for bluetooth to work or will it still operate correctly with the standard wheel? I have vag com to enable the coding if required.
  19. Cheers for the replies. I've had them on my Seat for two years and passed MOT without any problems. Also had them on an audi which had projector style headlamps and they looked oe without any glare. I know there note e approved but I've never had any issues. Yes I agree some cars are blinding with them...ie corsa brigade etc. What do you need to go into with vagcom as I've used vag com for a few years now
  20. Thinking of buying a 2010/11 VRS. Looking for one with factory HID but if not how easy is it to fit aftermarket units - do they need a canbus specific unit? I currently have a Seat Leon with aftermarket hid which I've had no problems with.
