The retention certificate enables dealer to register new car from day 1 with the personal plate - no delay, as done there and then. Your reference to "old" plates I assume means a current new 14 plate. The new car never gets registered with that in the first place. Hope that explains.

Why indeed, considering the price saving of around 40% on a dealer fitted bar/electrics - and you know it's been installed correctly.

Regarding personal plate swop. 2 Options: 1) Agree with TP that best to put on retention yourself prior to p/exing, then do the transfer yourself at your leisure - cost £105 (BTW, can never work out why this charge has not been increased for at least 25 years). 2) Let the dealer do it (at your peril) and wait around 3/4 weeks for DVLA to deal with (at their leisure) - cost £80. I prefer option 1 - then I am in control.

Very sensible. I always advise my bank (fraud department), of any impending large/unusual debit card payment, so as there is not an issue on the day. Looks like in your case though, it did not work as it should have - very annoying and somewhat embarrassing initially I would imagine.

Same as me then, and as I expected. It really does spoil the enjoyment. If Skoda would have honored my original build date (wk52/13), I would be driving my FL now. Yes that would solve it. A lot of these City car producers (Aygo, UP etc), seem to think that we are all young buyers, and want something a bit OTT. That's fine, but please give us oldies an option for a more sombre paint finish/interior.

I am also a huge Subaru and Toyota fan, having owned several of each make with no issues at all. Still have a (very) soft spot for my previous Yeti though, hence why I keep an eye on what's happening on here in Yeti world!

Oh dear. Sports seats that look like something out of a Fiat 500. That colour/pattern would be enough to put me off getting one. Who designs these (Sporty) interiors? Disgraceful Skoda.

Damn you remembered - hoping to keep that quite. That item lasted just a day as well. It was in my early "dark period" of Yeti ownership. Had no trouble selling though to another member on here who shall remain nameless!

Don't give the guy a hard time Johann, he might think the same about caravans! (I was a keen caravanner from age 21 to 60 so nothing personal intended ). I think his car looks OK with or without the Black B pillars, and has been said many times before, everyone's tastes differs. I hate to admit it, but I stuck VRs badges front and back on my Yeti, but soon removed them as they did look a bit naff.

It's an age thing (I think), though my wife says I have always been a moaner - come to think of it, she's correct.

Love the flat bottomed steering wheel, but Skoda have to spoil the brilliant sports seats with a silly pattern running down the middle. Looks like a cheap set of Halford's seat covers have been fitted - what a shame, as spoils a very nice interior.

Used to be that some lowly model 3 series BMW drivers, used to de-badge their cars for fear of feeling inferior to their 325i brothers. I think that is still a factory option as well. Sad!

I believe that the fold flat passenger seat is an option, which your car may not have. The manual will list all available options though.

That's what I was told. I only found out by chance, when my build week went from week 52/13 to 9/14. Best to double check though.
