It's cold and it's been very windy recently. These are huge factors alone. Then there is the heavy right foot, cruising speed, overtaking up hills, rolling down hills, accelerating smoothly, braking gradually... etc. etc. The only way to really know is to have a known trip that you do on a regularly basis and to suddenly start seeing drastic MPG changes. Or to do the full tank-full tank method but driving similarly for all 1000 of those miles.

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=313104 This is a fantastic guide that explains how to change the tensioner. It is a quick, 15-20 minute job. The alternator does not need to be removed. Did it myself as mine was sounding grind-ey after 12 years.

I would tend to agree with alltorque. Skoda have never fitted Kenwood's because they saw Mirrorlink as 'not fit for purpose', but in recognition for those who were missold the car from new. Presumably your salesman didn't mislead you as it's such a well known issue now, so you can't use that argument!

Apple announced it now supports Bluetooth CarPlay from iOS9 in September. Not been enough time for the car brands to respond yet, though!

Drivers door lock 'spins' when using key
Oli3000 replied to Oli3000's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Nobody? I have been managing by sharing the fob with the misses, but improving the key performance would be good and I appreciate any suggestions! -
Why do you deserve compensation, exactly? The world deserves compensation for the potential environmental damage, but it doesn't affect your fuel efficiency or road tax bracket. Obviously when some dubious Doctor declares they've cause lots of lung cancer by their actions that would be dangerous...

I use the key mostly to unlock the car as we only have one fob and my misses uses that. Recently the key spins in the lock probably 10 or so times before it actually registers it and unlocks. Any suggestions?

Car decisions.... (and a flurry of questions).

Personally - the wait is worth it to get the car you want! -

- Cornering fogs I believe this can be activated by VCDS afterwards for minimal cost if you ask chaps on here. Personally I do not see the point of it. - Hillhold Only if you are getting DSG. - Driver fatigue sensors Do you think you need these? - Front parking sensors Do you think you need these or can you park okay? It doesn't have a particularly hard to park front end. - KESSY entry (this freaks me out a bit but seems so cool) Personally think this is a must as key never has to leave pocket! - Light/rain assistant Depends - I like using it but it's only laziness. I actually always drive with my lights on regardless so arguably a waste of money. - Voice control? (This confuses me because I thought it comes with Android Auto, and therefore Google Now....so do I need this option?) Not sure. I think there is some discussion on the SmartLink thread if you look. - Smartgate Don't see the point personally - Is it worth having a rear spare tyre, or are the repair kits effective? Always buy the spare tyre when ordering. You'll get stung by the goop and then discover ordering one through your dealer is £150-250! Regarding diesel - it's a lot more expensive for the 105ps so you have to do a lot of miles to recover that! What are you expecting to do? EDIT: Just saw 6.5k - that's not diesel driving! More like 16.5k these days! Also same for the fatigue sensors - I don't think 11 miles will wear you out! -
Ah right! Well it sounds like you're covered then! Just forget about it and love the car!

What phone and how low is the battery? I believe some Androids go into 'power save' below 20%.

If it's a factory order they are now all post week 22!

Make sure you get a carwow quote (or similar) as that will knock off a couple of grand! -
Mirrorlink - update from Skoda UK 29/5/2015
Oli3000 replied to kevrs16's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk III (2014-2021)
I believe all iPads do not have a GPS chip in them - they use 3G signal triangulation to find your location. Therefore they are not as reliable as GPS, particularly in built up cities. It'll work adequately, but don't expect it to be perfect! Just worth considering -
Cracking deal!

Mirrorlink - update from Skoda UK 29/5/2015
Oli3000 replied to kevrs16's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk III (2014-2021)
Personally, having read your story, I'd simply reject the car now unless you got it for an absolute stonking price. Order a new one through a discount website (drivethedeal, carwow etc). Only way dealers and Skoda are going to realise this is an important issue. -
Has someone received car with Apple Carplay/Android Auto?
Oli3000 replied to arnos's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk III (2014-2021)
No ads and you can download music to listen to offline. Better for saving data usage! -
Lets hope the Tech comes with a decent engine......

You know what, we hadn't thought of asking Skoda that! -
At present, CarPlay atleast is only via cable. Apple have allowed from iOS 8.4 for this to be wireless, but whether Skoda have updated to match yet, I do not know.

Can we move on? Kev (and others) are complaining. Edin (and others) won't. I'm sure there are plenty of people who bought the Fabia and couldn't care less what features the radio has.
-
There are many analogies: You buy a TV with the promise of BBC iPlayer being available in 6 months. It doesn't come to fruition. The TV still works as a TV, but the additional selling point you purchased it for is wrong. Do you simply accept that or are you aggrieved? The fact is simple; yes it still works as a car, just as buying from any mark would achieve this. But we don't buy it because it's 'a car', we buy because it has X engine, or Y body shape, or Z ride. In this case the smart radio functions was a factor and when deceived the purchasers are annoyed. Fine it means nothing to you and you have been hasty to judge everybody who it is important to. If you're not bothered, move on and enjoy your car! Others won't. The same way some enjoy filming a concert and others enjoy watching. Personal preference is not for you to judge, but the fact remains that many were misold.
-
Post week-22 as far as I understand it all radios will have Smartlink (which encompasses mirrorlink, apple CarPlay and android auto). I would ring and triple check this with your dealer. IF it only has mirrorlink you will only get Bluetooth audio from your iPhone. Be that music, phonecall or directions. It won't show anything on the display.

You could try carwow.co.uk which gives you 2 quotes - one for finance and one for cash

I think you've been more than reasonable. I hope they don't make any resolution too painful!
