  1. On the Karoq forum, all very similar threads. The London issue is the one I consistently get. I did send Skoda the following location statement when the fault occurs; ".....If it is any help, the area where this seemed to happen most for me is 51.511227, -0.013692. In the real world rather than the ridiculous Skoda lat/long system this equates to A13 East India Dock Road 177-185 or Post Code E14 0EA." I also mentioned that this is potentially a safety issue - imagine car breaks down at some point after this message... SOS call disabled, Bluetooth hands free not working and you are stuck on a new smart motorway.....
  2. More SOS errors and Skoda appear to claim they do not know the actual reason. They still maintain that there are only a handful of incidents and the local dealer claimed to have had no idea about the recent newspaper feature Interestingly I have pinned it down to very specific areas where this happens. I have also read in other forums that users experience the issues in geographically similar areas in their region. Some years ago my car (not a Skoda at that time) used to disable the engine via the anti-theft system and I had to have the car towed 1/2 mile to a different location where it all worked again. THis was traced to radio transmissions in a local area (Police of Home Office) and a fix was found within a few weeks. I have mentioned this to Skoda. They wanted to know where my SOS failure happened so I gave then the same useless coordinates that their satnav uses so they could try and figure out where it was - but I also gave a 'real world' address and post code which is how most of us expect a satnav to work. (There is a parallel thread on satnav postcode vs lat/long and off road locations being displayed).
  3. SOS error again yesterday and 5 minutes later GPS slowly degrading and placing car a few miles away from where it was meant to be. Needless to say, furious nav messages to make u turns and go back to the route plus speed warnings for the wrong roads! Large email with photos and video (again) going back to Skoda tomorrow about this plus all the other issues with the Connect App, no Online destinations and inability to select destinations from a contacts list in the phone (which works perfectly in older Skoda satnav systems). I wonder if there is actually newer software but as Skoda consider it not mandatory they refuse to do anything? Some years ago in my Kodiaq I had all sorts of issues and Skoda UK said there were no software updates. I discovered that the same hardware was being shipped with a more recent version of software which my local dealer installed and... guess what - all the problems were solved. I wonder if we have a similar issue now?
  4. Out of curiosity, have you tried selecting a destination from the contacts menu option when your phone is connected via bluetooth?
  5. My garage is on the case with Skoda technical to fully understand why my car has not updated to allow this function. All 'Connect' options are enabled in the user profile under the user-settings - privacy option. It appears you MUST have minimum privacy to permit many of the Connect App functions. They are also looking into the several video clips I sent showing an inability to select destinations from the contacts in a connected phone. The two issues may well be connected.
  6. I would have hoped it would store destinations in a similar way to my older which had an Online Destinations option in the list with favourites, recent etc. I will have a look tomorrow to see if the car has been updated and try things out.
  7. Interesting. No update yet for my system. Was this sent from the Connect App or the Web Connect via a browser? How did the destination appear? Was there an online menu option? Thanks.
  8. Pity the interviewees didn't also comment on the total lack of functionality with contacts/postcodes/connect App as well....... If Skoda/VAG have been selling cars without disclosing known faults, I wonder what the legal position is? I was hoping that selecting a contact from the phone contacts (either via bluetooth or the connect app) would get around the appalling failure of the post code entry not showing real names - but sadly none of these features work on the V3 Amundsen (Skoda announced this last June) but my older Kodiaq with Columbus is fine.
  9. Sorry - maps are 20.11 (just checked). As the portal still shows 2020/21 I guess that is likely to also be the same - hence not wanting to try the USB C route at present. I think one of the great unknowns is that is it just the UK maps updated? I cannot imaging Skodsa funding a 25GB download OTA each time for all cars! This is why I was really interested in being able to update via the USB and be able to select a country. You can then go on holiday (hopefully) and leave with the latest maps installed. I am still vigorously pursuing the issues of being unable to select contacts from a phone as a destination, the fact that the advertised Connect services are still not available to send contacts since the announcement last June, and the post code issues with real addresses not being recognised. My old £99 Garmin with lifetime updates is more advanced for post code operation!
  10. A small update re Amundsen V3 map updates. The garage have informed me that you should be able to download the maps from the portal for your VIN to a USB memory stick, put it into the USB C socket and then on the main system menu go to the update option and it should recognise it there if you check for updates. I have not tried it as my maps were updated by the garage to 11/21.
  11. Hi. I have no direct experience of the V3 Columbus (My 3 year old V2 works flawlessly), but if it is anything like a 'superior' version of the Amundsen, we have all found on the latest version; 1. Connect App (Or connect Via the web) fails to send destinations /routes - or rather it send it but the vehicle never receives the data. Buried in the web portal is a message saying 'coming soon' for this function. Amazing as it was announced with great fanfare LAST JUNE 2020! The App reports no errors but when I sent a destination via the Connect Web portal I did eventually get a failure message on sending. 2. With your phone connected via bluetooth, try selecting a destination from the contacts. On the Amundsen V3 it reports 'Invalid Format'. This also works fine on my 3 year old Columbus. I would get the garage to visually see the issue so that it is formally logged with Skoda - otherwise it will get lost. I ended up on point 2 above taking a short video clearly demonstrating the failure. I am afraid I have no direct experience with the V3 Columbus but am sure someone will respond.
  12. Before responding, may I ask what the Satnav is? Columbus or Amundsen? Many issues with V3 versions, but the model will help in formulating my experiences (if applicable).
  13. Skoda specifically requested that I take the car to my local dealer. Although there was a parallel thread on SOS failures, Skoda could at least acknowledge there are several areas of concern I have just sent to my garage a video showing the old Columbus taking a destination from my phone and the latest Amundsen V3 fails using the same contact and phone. I also sent a series of images showing that sending a destination via the Connect App (as instructed a few months ago to do by Skoda support) also fails to arrive at the car. This was announced last June by Skoda as a benefit of the new V3 Infotainment systems. This works perfectly on my 4 year old Columbus.
  14. Software update done - no change in behaviour......
  15. My car is with the dealer and Skoda UK have acknowledged this is a known issue and apparently are now working towards a proper fix with some priority. No fix date as yet, but at least is is now in the system and recognised.
  16. I would challenge that on 2 counts ; 1. I was told by customer services to send a route/destination to the Amundsen using the connect App (or Portal). It does not work. No error messages - it just does not arrive at the car. 2. Try selecting a destination from your phone contacts - that reports an invalid format message but my Columbus works fine. (Samsung S9+ so not an obscure phone). Those alone should be grounds for a system failing to perform as advertised? My wife's car (Karoq) with the dreaded Amundsen V3 will be going to the garage for 2 days so I will let you know what happens. I have formally lodged (and the garage have confirmed) that; 1. Cannot send destinations via the Connect App 2. Phone contacts fail with invalid format error message when selecting a destination for the satnav 3. SOS alarm goes off sporadically 4. GPS loses position 5. No manual update process for Maps (but maybe coming soon as reported on these forums?) I take the position that I was sold (at a premium) a modern satnav and the features included have not been delivered, and the Satnav is not the same as tested on my test drive. In June 2020 Skoda issues a press release claiming... "....What’s more, desired destinations can be transferred directly from the ŠKODA Connect app to the navigation system." when I sent a video clip of the process failing Skoda had to admit it was a problem.
  17. Not a very friendly response by Skoda under the circumstances. You are probably also following the other SOS thread. From my position, the Amundsen 'system' in its V3 guise fails miserably on many fronts. The SOS error messages and the phone being cut off, loss of GPS signal and wrong position on the map, Inability to select destinations from the phone contacts addresses (which my 4 year old Columbus does very well indeed), the inability to send a destination or route via the connect App and of course this topic of map updates. I am sure there are many of us who could find someone who could translate Czech to English in less than 3 months! I did hear that with a multiple button press you could enter an engineering mode where you 'might' be able to update maps from a USB C memory stick but that was second hand info. Due to not being able to enjoy the advertised services I will be pressing hard for an FOC extension to the Connect services as the functionality has not been provided 'as sold' with the vehicle. Over 5 months in now from a new car and reporting issues in the first week of use is just not good enough. A great shame that the Amundsen is badly letting down what is otherwise an excellent car. Next week I have been booked in to get a software update at the garage so will be keen to see what that solves. (interesting as just last week after a garage visit I was told that the car was completely up to date!) From some reports I have heard that VW are potentially losing sales from customers trying new cars with the V3 SatNav as customers hate it.
  18. My SOS errors have always been after an hour or more of driving so I doubt low voltage - but a reasonable possibility in some cases I would think.
  19. I took my car in a week ago and apart from lodging the formal technical fault and downloading the logs, the car was reported as being up to date. Just had a call from the garage to take the car in next week for a software update - it has probably just been released? I will see what happens and post back here. EDIT - just seen in another forum that someone else had a similar issue which after the 3rd garage visit turned out to be the eSim.
  20. OK. Visited the garage yesterday - a 1 hour drive away to try and fuind out what is happening. They took logs and a detailed report from myself including photos when the issues arose. I get the feeling that Skoda will do NOTHING unless the customer complaints process is backed up and linked to a formal technical report from a dealer. When there have been a sufficient number of technical fault reports then it will trigger an investigation. I am aghast at the UK forums for T-Roc, Tiguan, Volkswagen, Skoda etc that are awash with all the issues we are reporting here as well and yet VW who are the source of this appalling MIB system seem to be focusing all their engineers on electric cars and not these issues. I have on good authority that customers are not buying new cars once they see the 'new' nav systems. My 'older' Columbus has performed flawlessly and that is 3 years old so we know there was a good, solid solution that VW and their subsidiaries have royally messed up. The issues I have now formally had lodged are; GPS Failures and car position 40 miles from where it actually is No local ability to update via USB SOS warning lights in large amber letters on the maxidot and MIB display Loss of phone connection coupled with loss of internet connection in the car by the ESim - probably a complete module failure? Failure to import addresses from the contacts list on a Samsung Galaxy phone as invalid format Connect App fails to send destination/route data to the MIB3 (the garage said that this was seen top be working on a training course!) with no error messages Inability to locally update via USB C but this 'may' be possible with the MIB3 in 'Engineering Mode'. To get this highlighted it is imperative that anyone with issues sees their dealer to get a formal technical complaint/fault raised by them on Skoda UK. It is a shame that what are otherwise excellent cars are being so badly let down by the MIB3 which at present seems 'not fit for purpose' and fails to meet any sort of acceptable product standards for the price paid and restore confidence in using the system. Interesting the comment about Carplay needing the cars GPS - I wonder if it is the same for Android Auto? I also see that VW are apparently recalling Golf 8s now for a software update but I do not know if this is related to our issues here. I would happily have an older system retrofitted.
  21. Agreed - probably will never use it but it seems to also completely remove all the live traffic info as well. After the car has completely shut down after leaving it, then everything comes on again. This week not only the SOS but also GPS failed and showed me driving up the Thames whilst only 14 miles from Newmarket! Again, after the car was shut down for 20 minutes it all booted up OK. Car is actually booked in next week as I understand these incidents are not isolated.
  22. Thanks for this clue! I know that this is the Amundsen thread, but my dealer said I would need a newer system on my Kodiaq to dynamically give speed warnings and my only option was to set a single, max speed via the cluster display. Lo and behold, yes, there is a camera with a setting in the Nav menus for Dynamic speed signs which does everything needed to avoid more speeding points! Next Friday the Karoq (new last December) on factory advice via Skoda support will be updated at my local dealer..... lets see what actually gets fixed.
  23. Does your Kodiaq have road sign recognition - that overrides standard speed limits Not sure but that could make sense. I have the Kodiaq Edition '67 plate. How do I check if this option is included or activated? I could not see it anywhere in the menus. Thanks.
  24. I think they also have their hands full with VAG over dieselgate and the UK class action as well..... maybe not as focused as they should be?
  25. I would question the 'as needed' comment. From experience, other software updates are only usually done if it is to correct a fault - not just general improvement or new features that may have been added. I would think that any form of update that required garage time is 'discouraged' or classed as non-essential as it is a loss of revenue. On my Kodiaq, after many months tracking down issues with the SIM card and off system lockups, a garage software update of the MIB (Columbus) solved everything except the selection of a destination from the contact list on the connected phone. But at least that V2 system accepted postcodes and showed a real address!
