  1. Hi all, Spent a few hours reading through the many other parking sensor problems, which helped me fix my problem. (lost parking display and only got a high pitched tone) Found the goosed sensor and replaced with a new one bought off ebay, reset the fault code via carista and worked perfectly. Now usually the first time the car is used the sensors are all over the place detecting something that isn't there. But use it again later that day and they work fine. Is this a sign another sensor is on its way out? I've checked they all make the clicking noise when it's quiet at 11pm and have cleaned the sensors. Can't get access to anyone with vcds right now, so kind of stuck with what to do next.
  2. Anybody use speedplay pedals and can compare them to spd? The price is a bit off putting, but the greater/adjustable float is appealing with a dodgy knee.
  3. Cleaned up plugs and symptoms went away. And now they've started to come back. Still no warning lights/fault codes, so going to try some new spark plugs from ECP/GSF as the ones I got last year were bought on ebay.
  4. Back to the same symptoms again. Going to pull the plugs and try giving them a clean.
  5. With a potential new job, I would have to commute 13 miles through Aberdeen. To do so I would have to buy a second car or consider doing cbt and buying a scooter. Pros with buying/running a scooter is fairly cheaper compared to buying/running a second car (or so I think) Cons being exposure to weather. Anybody able to enlighten me to rough costs of running a scooter including cbt (haven't done a motorbike theory or have any riding kit) Gained my licence in 2003, I read that once I've completed a cbt it isn't required again and that I'm limited to a 50cc. Friend told me it's actually a 125cc. Can someone confirm please. Tia.
  6. I have, but it's a bit of a faff compared to a remote. I ended up buying some coax cable and hooking it all up. First tv still has the hdmi cable from the sky box and coax cable runs from the splitter fitted to the back of the sky box to the magic eye. I expected to have to run coax cable from the magic eye to the back of the tv (to complete the 'circuit'), but didn't need to.
  7. Hi, I currently have a sky box connected via hdmi cable to tv 1. From the back of the sky box I have a coax cable that runs to tv 2 in another room with a magic eye connected so the sky box can be controlled from the other room. What I want to do is hide away the sky box in a cupboard (out of reach from 2 young kids) and retain full use. To do this I have bought a second magic eye and a magic eye splitter kit from eBay. To get the second magic eye and tv 1 working as normal, how to I connect it up? > coax to tv 1 with magic eye Splitter > coax to tv 2 with magic eye Which means the hdmi cable is now redundant or is there another/better way to do it? I haven't got any bits of coax cable free, otherwise I would try out what I think needs to be done. Thanks.
  8. I had been using asda fuel (convenience of it being close) and when I pulled the plugs on the car they were gummed up with carbon. Hoping that the better fuel will maybe prevent it happening over the next 30k miles.
  9. Forgot I had carista, so used that to scan. It found no faults. So took it over to the shell garage to fill up with some super unleaded and it didn't stutter once... With more use I guess we'll see if it comes back.
  10. Spark plugs have made a difference, now it stutters randomly... So I guess the next step will be to get it scanned to track down what coil is at fault. The fuel filter I fitted, I had bought for a previous Octavia and was the same as fitted to the car and both stamped up 6.6 bar. I got one from ECP and it was stamped at 6.4 bar. Has ECP sent the wrong filter or was the wrong one fitted to the car?
  11. Checked air filter, it looked like new for being 9 months old. It was serviced at Mercedes which is an Arnold Clark (as that's where I bought it from and purchase price included 2 years service/mot) Had planned to do a 'big' service on it in October including spark plugs and fuel filter anyway.
  12. Just approaching 30k. Don't think spark plugs have been done, but I'll check.
  13. Changing the fuel filter has made no difference. I have noticed that it only stutters when the engine is up to temp.
  14. Hi all, Car is a 2011, 1.4 tsi estate. Recently the car has started stuttering/kangaroo'ing between 2k and 3k rpm. Once above 3k the engine pulls well. I'm just about to finish a full tank of shell super unleaded (with redex injector cleaner) which seems to have had no effect. Next I was going to replace the fuel filter as its an inexpensive part. There is no warnings showing on the dash. I don't have vcds near by, I only really have a generic fault code reader (which I'm assuming will show nothing) Any suggestions as to what would be my next step? Thanks, Drew.
  15. Right, because I don't enjoy spending time playing with my two kids... This has gone on for 4 years, its time for it to end.
  16. The son was using his works van to block in my car, he was parked on a dropped curb and he blocked the car over a few weeks. His regional boss called me and didn't seem overly interested or bothered. He stated an 'investigation had been done' and photos had been taken. Throughout the conversation I told him on a few occasions that I had photos of the van blocking and he barely acknowledged it. Now they've moved onto making false allegations of me and threatening behaviour and sending letters from a solicitor saying my false allegations of him blocking cars and me manufacturing disputes by the positioning of my bin. I don't feel safe alone in my own house as he could accuse me of anything.
  17. The 3 times that I've called them, I've been saying he's harrassing and intimidating my family and it seems to have fallen on deaf ears and the neighbours just up this petty ****ing match. Shotgun and firearms is due for renewal in October. I surrendered my firearms, but decided to renew shotgun. Firearms officer said my application will go up the chain a few pay grades to someone high up due to on going dispute and criminal complaint.
  18. I'm looking into that now. My fear is that he now knows that to make another criminal complaint he needs another witness for it to be taken further. Gf now has anxiety and is scared to go outside with my 2.5 yo daughter and 2 month old boy.
  19. Sorry for the huge bump, but I believe its necessary as I'm at a complete loss what to do next. All was well for a while, gave him access to the back garden to allow him to paint the side of his shed (I replaced the rotten boundary fence and painted the lower half of his shed while this happened) and allowed him use of the hose at the front to let his son wash their cars. This stopped when I got home to find broken hose joints and spray guns. Basically it was all give from me and all take from him. So he started getting petty again, making noise after I had made noise (DIY), using tumble drier up till 11:45pm and starting it before 7am, then started moving my bin from behind my car (very rarely used)and shifting it behind the car that is used daily, So I go out and move it back to where it was, he comes out and confronts me. I try a bit of bluffing and tell him a noise complaint has been raised with the police about using the tumble drier and it seems to shut him up. Then his son starts getting involved, by using his works van to block vehicles on my drive. I complain to his work and this escalates to him using his own car (5l v8 mustang) sitting outside the house and revving it any time he sees me (bellend did it while I was speaking to neighbours, so witnesses for me) Police have been called previously to record what he has been doing. After complaining about him revving his mustang, the police come round (for a second time) and speak to the son, revving stops immediately. Couple of days ago, 2 letters arrive from a solicitor on behalf of the father and son threatening with legal action if I continue to make false complaints to the sons work about his parking and about trying to manufacture disputes about bin positioning and threatening behaviour. Then 2 hours later, police call as there has been a criminal complaint made against me and could I come in for a "chat". I had been accused of making fists with my hands, puffing out my chest and swearing and goading the father into a fight. There was another complaint on a different date of threatening behaviour and putting the neighbour in a state of fear and alarm and the sneaky ****** manufactured a dispute and was walking about with a Dictaphone. Police said all they could hear me say was "grown up you ****" and that incident was dropped. The first incident went no further due to being an in-witnessed incident. Police were better than great throughout and said they could see through his BS accusation, but had to follow it up. Now my SG licence is up for renewal and because of the criminal complaint and ongoing neighbour dispute I've got my hoops to jump through and my application for renewal with have to go to higher up bods than usual. HELP!
  20. Just to make folks aware, Planet X are doing an alphabet sale. Currently on day 6 (letter F) and are doing finance deals. Yesterday they were selling stems for £1 and dropped handlebars for £3 and a bunch of other cheap components. http://www.planetx.co.uk/c/q/deals/the-alphabet-sale
  21. I have an expander fitted to my mtb and I removed the smallest cog of the cassette. The jump isn't that noticeable, but I'd rather have it geared too low so I can carry on pedalling, than struggle or stop. Is there anyway to calculate the biggest (physically) sized cassette I can fit? The 42t expander on my mtb is near as dammit the same size as the rear 180mm disc. It's a SHIMANO 105 RD5800GSL 11-Speed rear mech.
  22. Has anyone fitted a cassette expander to a road bike? I struggle to get up a 33% incline (cairn o mount) on my current setup of 50x34 at the crank and 11-Speed 11-32T cassette.
  23. Treated myself with my redundancy pay.
  24. Try putting your hand over the exhaust end while the engine is running, if there's a leak/broken joint you should be able to keep your hand where it is. If its fine the build up in pressure should push your hand away.
