  1. Hi thanks for the reply, Mine has to be via Rsap as I have the old Bluetooth box under my seat being a 10 Reg car, so HFC isn't an option for me. See this is the problem, my Maxidot doesn't come up with any code, it just says "please wait", whilst my phone asks for the Skoda Rsap Pass Code (or words to that effect). Very odd. The car has obviously paired with phones in the past as its previous owners phones are still listed and I can't delete them. Was wondering if I did a Factory Reset it would get rid of those two phones and maybe even allow mine to connect easier by bringing up the passcode. Any further clues as to what I should try would be gratefully received :-)
  2. I have decided to try and pair an old phone of mine to my Superb and it gets further than my HTC Desire does but it all comes to a halt when it asks for a pass key. I am trying to pair a BlackBerry Curve and have used 0000, 0123 and 1234 but none of them work. Has anyone any clues as to what I should enter as I'm a tad stuck. The plan should I be able to pair it is get a PAYG sim and the simply divert my HTC to the BlackBerry when driving. Many thanks in advance of any help :-) Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk 2
  3. Well I had that side part off again and packed some more bluetack in there, then I went underneath the glove box to check out the pollen filter housing. Decided to check out the state of the filter and muck fell out all over the footwell, it could do with changing. Whilst I was down there I noticed the unit with the five or six outlets moves back and forth a little to freely and when giving it a little flick it does have a rattly noise to it. So I wedged some stuff up there to stop it from moving, replaced the pollen filter and slid the housing back together. This time the rattle seems to have gone, but I'm not holding my breath just yet. If it hasn't returned by next week then I know its sorted Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 2
  4. Hmmmmmm guess my rattle is caused by something else :- The search will continue, with a little luck I'll find it soon and fix it. Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk 2
  5. You gotta love this forum. I too have the very same rattle coming from the passenger side, seemingly from around or behind the glovebox. It only ever seems to happen when the car has been running a while, and seems to resonate worse at idle when queuing in traffic. First job for me tomorrow will be to check out that side panel and see if the 'fix' solves my problem to :-)
  6. I had all four wheels off and repaired the damage to the alloys caused by the previous owner. They look cracking now they've had the scratches and chunks that are missing filled, rubbed down and totally resprayed :-)
  7. I picked up my Superb from a non-Skoda dealership in South Wales last week and the first time I drove it was on the long journey back to Horley, near Gatwick, in Surrey. Driving it away from Cwmbran I didn't notice anything untoward but 45 miles or so later something was clearly not right. Having cruised down the M4 with no problems at all for 40 miles I was suddenly faced with some bunched up traffic and had to brake moderately sharp and was met by a loud rumble and a vibration that went through the car. Needless to say I was more than a little shocked. I pulled off at the next junction to have a look at the brakes through the alloys and saw that the discs were covered in rust from where the car had been sitting on the forecourt for so long. The drivers side front was the worst and obviously took the brunt of the weather. I called the dealership to let them know what had just happened and they assured me that if the symptoms of the rusty discs didn't soon pass then they would have them changed for me. I agreed to run the car for a few days, braking fairly sharply where it was safe to do so to see if I could wear off the rusting and rid the car of the rumble and vibration at high speed. Well it's been a week now and in that time I've covered 600 miles. My final test was last night coming down the M23 getting off at Gatwick, braking sharply again on the slip road from 70 mph down to 30 mph it still rumbled and vibrated. Not to the level it did the first time but enough to make me think it'll be ages till it goes, if at all. So I just called the dealership to let them know and they told me to book it in to a local garage asap and they would pay for new front discs and pads over the phone. It is now booked in to be done on Wednesday of next week, and just to make sure there is no funny business from the dealership I have told them that the garage doing the work will request payment before the work is carried out, which they fully understood and agreed to. I have to say I do take a bit of a gamble when buying my cars in this manner, having never seen them in real life before driving them home, but situations such as this kinda justifies my faith in dealing with salesmen/dealerships in this way as it could have been so easy for them to just fob me off and tell me to jog on.
  8. 10/08/12 Got myself a 2010 Superb 2.0 TDi 140 manual Elegance in Silver. Black leather and the dash has the silver trim.
  9. I don't have the Greenline but the 2.0 TDi I picked up last week didn't have a spare wheel either, and I have to have one as a Private Hire Chauffeur. I found mine on ebay at £128 with the fitting kit. The listing was made by a fairly local Skoda dealership so I called them directly as I wanted to discuss the possibility of coming to collect it instead of being charged £15 for delivery. They took the order there and then and honored the ebay price. It took them 2 days to get the wheel and kit in. Mine was supplied with a Continental Tyre, that alone must account for a fair chunk of the price.
  10. Good point, hadn't thought of that lol Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 2
  11. Personally I like the look of those, I think they look great. Wondering if they do one for the badge on the steering wheel? Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 2
  12. Thanks Moro, I'll look into that. Quite like the look of the SGS's, so that may well be my phone upgrade path :-)
  13. Ah well, guess I'll either update my bluetooth box or upgrade to an Android that seems to have an easy Rooting procedure.....my HTC Desire struggles to even communicate with my PC let alone communicate with Rooting software. Thanks Jigger. Yeah it is a big gamble, but partially calculated as well. At the end of the day its just had it's second birthday 3 days ago and has only done 35000 miles, so its a mere baby with enough warranty left to cover me for unexpected problems over the next 25000 miles, as I'll cover that before the year is up being a chauffeur, in fact I'll probably be out of warranty mileage-wise by May/June next year. It's something I've done with my last two cars. Went to Clacton-on-Sea for one and Bury St Edmonds for the other, neither car was seen, other than pictures, until I arrived at the garage. I see no problem in travelling miles to get a bit of a bargain, and they seem to be getting further away with each car, as long as there is some cover for me (warranty) should things go slightly pear shaped.
  14. Thanks for the link, will look into that. Might just be brave enough to try rooting my phone in order to do it, although there is a safety net should I brick my phone, is that I only have one month left on my current phone contract so I can get a new one soon enough. Thinking along those lines, is there a list of modern/new RSAP enabled phones?
  15. Hi, I picked up my new Superb Elegance from a dealership just north of Newport, Wales, yesterday and my 1st drive of it was to take it home, all the way back to the Surrey/Sussex border. Its about 170 miles and I found it to be very comfortable. My problem tends to be getting the angle of the back correct and sorting out the lumber support. Think I altered it a few times on the journey back till it felt right. Just hoping it remains as comfortable. I remember my last car giving me neck/shoulder ache on the left hand side. It developed after about a week. Turned out to be the fact that car was the first I've had that had an armrest and using it meant I held my left shoulder higher than I normally would. Found a remedy, I lowered the armrest lol Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 2
  16. Thanks for the welcome. Even having driven it for only parts of the last 24 hours I can already see how economic it is against my old Alhambra. Been doing some round the town stuff today and the average mpg settled at about 42mpg. The Alhambra would have to be on the motorway for about 10-15 miles at 65 mph to average out at about the same. I think I'm gonna like the reduced fuel bill :-)
  17. I've been a long time admirer of the Superb from basically as soon as the MK1 arrived, but work commitments over the past 7 or so years meant I had to have a people carrier, but that changed today. One of the reasons behind my admiration of Skoda at least was the fact my wife's last 4 cars have all been Skoda's. She has had a Fabia, Fabia Estate, Octaivia 1.6 and now she is currently in a Octavia 1.4 TSi on a 60 plate. I went on a mission today accompanied by my youngest son, 4 year old Lucas, to go and get my 10 Reg Superb 2.0 TDi 140BHP Elegance from Cwmbran in Wales. We live near Gatwick Airport and as I had sold my people carrier the day before we went by train to go and get it, hence the reason my son desperately wanted to come, he loves trains. Although I've been an admirer for quite a while, today was the first time I had properly sat in one and definitely the first time I've driven one, and I have to say I loved it. The ride is so smooth and comfortable, compared to my old Alhambra it is so responsive and powerful yet averaged out at something like 55mpg on the journey back to Gatwick. I've only had it about 12 hours and I can already say it's the best car I've ever owned. Already come across my first couple of minor problems. Firstly, the car had been sat at the dealership for quite a while, possibly 3 months looking at the documentation supplied, and the brake disc's had rusted quite heavily. Driving away from the dealership meant using roads that were either 30 or 40 mph and braking was minimal and I didn't notice anything untoward. Hitting the M4 meant speeds now got up to 70 odd mph but the need to hit the brakes didn't really happen until about 45 miles had passed but when it did I was in for a bit of a shock with the shuddering braking action and the vibration that came up through the car along with the noise. Needless to say I was instantly worried and got off at the next exit and phoned the dealership, but not before having a look at the brakes through the alloys. It was easy to see the corrosion and come to the conclusion that it was the cause of the problem. Still called the dealership though to make a note of it should it not just wear off over the coming days of use. Having got back to Gatwick it's nowhere near as bad as that first time it happened, so I hope it'll be completely gone by the end of the weekend. Second, the bluetooth. Seems my 2010 reg has the old bluetooth module in it as it won't pair up with my old HTC Desire. It'll find it but says it's incompatible. Slightly disgruntled by it as I work in my car as a chauffeur, so having hands free capabilities via the car would be great, but then I could be as equally annoyed at Android for not using RSAP. Having read other sections of the forum I believe I can change that bluetooth box to allow it to connect to any Hands Free phone, so I may well look in to that, will certainly check the model number of my box in the morning just to make sure I have the old one. Anyway, sorry to waffle, glad I finally took the jump to the Superb, and glad I found this place, think it's gonna help me no end in keeping informed about my motor :-)
  18. Woo Hoo, got it and it has lived up to my high expectations. I know I've only driven it from South Wales back to South East Surrey but I have to say I loved it. So quiet and smooth, and yet powerful when I needed it to be. One slight side effect of it having been sat unused for the past 2-3 months was the fact the brake discs have suffered heavy rusting and hitting the breaks moderately hard at 70 mph gave off a nasty vibration and noise. It didn't happen at lower speeds, so when leaving Cwmbran I never noticed it but I was already 50 odd miles down the M4 before I had to break sharply and found the problem, so it came as a bit of a shock when it first happened. It's subsiding now as the rusting gets brushed off each time I hit the breaks, hoping it'll disappear completely soon. My mechanic seems to think it should. Looking forward to getting out in it and learning what all the switches, buttons and settings on everything do :-)
  19. It's definitely happening tomorrow! By this time tomorrow I'll be driving my new Superb back from Wales :-)
  20. Thanks Alkip Just a quick update, the bank threw a spanner in the works over the past 24 hours, have now resolved the problem and should be picking up my Superb on Friday :-)

  22. Hi all, I'm a private hire chauffeur in the Gatwick area and have become very, very bored of driving the Seat Alhambra that I've had for the past 4 years. The state of our roads hasn't helped the situation either, with every pot hole, lump, bump or crack in the road comes a crash of noise that thunders around the cavernous interior and it's getting on my nerves. So tomorrow I go and beg to my bank manager that I'm worthy of a new loan and that I can then go and purchase the 10 reg Skoda Superb 2.0TDi 140BHP Elegance that I've already put a deposit on, hence the fingers crossed bit. If all goes well I should be the proud owner of it by Thursday lunchtime. So looking forward to getting back in a luxurious saloon/hatch with a nice quiet ride :-) Dom
