  1. It is mapped yes, in fact it's pretty much rammed out with bits and pieces, I'll create a thread for it in the octavia section, in simple terms its now a K04-001, FMIC, fully siliconed and deleted everything, full custom exhaust system from turbo back, and apart from the block itself I've pretty much replaced everything I can get my tools onto, it's just this misfire that's completely confused me....... :S Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  2. Andy ap, you seem to be having exactly the same problem as me! Let me know how you get on and if you need to swap ideas!
  3. Ah that's brilliant, that's the website I was looking for! As for the plugs they are the Bosch super 4's, I've abandoned the car at home this week as I'm away in Wales. Unfortunately I don't have Vagcom (so if there are any helpful members in the Oxfordshire area (wink wink) then I'd be happy to come and visit you, but, I do have the basic hand held scanner which has never failed me before but it literally doesn't register any codes for this, where as before it would give me an individual cylinder for coilpack failure etc, it even gave me a code a while back for bad earth on cylinder 3 which turned out to be a faulty coilpack. So I will update next week!
  4. Woah that's a huge amount of responses, thanks! In answer to the questions, it's a 1.8t AUQ, It's had the full SAI, EVAP and N249 delete, all the breathers have been replaced with new silicone piping, there are no registered fault codes when scanned - which is the confusing part! I haven't yet cleaned out the throttle body so I guess that's one worth trying. But as everything has been replaced at some point and has been running fine it just confuses me as to how it can all of a sudden develop the misfire. I've also tried swapping the coil packs round individually with a spare one to rule out the fact that one might be faulty but this doesn't resolve the issue. I just can't work the thing out. So if anybody has the link to the throttle body cleaning thread I'd be grateful, also, I'm sure you'll all know what I mean, but there is a guy with a red skoda octavia who has his own website with guides to everything, I believe he is a member on here but for the life of me I cannot remember the website. Thanks Nick
  5. I've tried to post in ask a tech but for some reason cannot do it, but in despair looking for any last clue to what's left to cause a misfire. So far I've replaced..... All four coil packs All spark plugs MAF N75 FPR Both Lambda sensors New DV It's had injector cleaner Runs on 99 octane It hesitates and splutters then runs fine at around 2,300 to 2,700 rpm but I'm totally out of ideas...... Thanks
  6. I did the N249 Bypass, drive to the petrol station, added £10, drove home and in the process burnt £10. Also, ate a lion bar on route and dropped a few of the nutty bits onto the silver fabric which left a little mark.
  7. Well I've read all kinds now about certain Octavias having a poor standard map, so by having it mapped up your just highlighting the problem? I've just finished taking it for a quick spin after deleting the n249 valve and it's certainly a lot smoother and more responsive, and for 7 minutes work, not a bad result!!! I've ordered a new N75 valve so I'm going to replace that and see how it goes? Failing both of those, any ideas on what else could be causing that aside from a bad map, as it's only really a generic map used on hundreds of cars over here.
  8. I always wondered how easy it was to do the headlight film mod? But previously I didn't own a car that was as aerodynamic as a house!!! I'd always split my old cars headlights in the oven, sprayed up the internals with tinting spray and sealed back up, always looked good but a nightmare to seal back up without inheriting mist problems, plus, irreversible unlike this tidy mod!
  9. I did plenty of coiled setups on the mk2/3's and was a pretty simple job, top mount bolts under engine bay and again the same in the boot, then one on the rear shocks holding it to the rear beam and fronts had two holding them onto the hubs, really straightforward. Is it as simple on these? I had a look at doing it on a friends 2005 passant and had to walk away, too much twisting and pulling things apart? Are the Octavia's pretty simple like mentioned above?
  10. Just a quick thought, which can be ignored if I have missed something during the post! I think it's possible to get the upgraded k04 with K03 flanges from the US pretty cheap, saves changing much on the car too. For quick reference just take a look at eBay.com rather than the UK site and type in k03 upgrade. The car looks great too, I've also got a black magic 53' VRS and have exactly the same ideas as far as wheels/grill etc goes.
  11. That looks fantastic! What a difference! Just reading through the eBay advert, did you use a heat gun to stick yours on?
  12. Hi Guys, Hoping someone can shed some light on this for me? I've just had the car remapped an instantly have the surging boost problem so looking to investigate what's causing this on mine. The one thing that's for sure is that the boost occasionally locks out completely until I turn the car off and back on again, would this suggest the N75 is at fault with the now higher boost? It never had that problem prior to the map but I'm hoping whatever is causing that lockout will also be the part that's causing it to surge. I've had it on the fault code reader an got the 17705 (pressure drop between turbo and throttle valve) ....... But don't know what this actually translates too when looking vacantly at my engine bay Any idea's welcome. Thanks Nick.
  13. Hi, Only my second post here and I'm sure that it's probably already been covered, but I'm just stuck in the middle of being able to work out the FACTS about this grey area? I've seen a lot of posts claiming that this is a worthwhile modification, it regains lost and otherwise wasted boost, makes the car drive a lot smoother and changes the drive of the car completely. On the flip side, I've also seen a number of posts saying that it's just a quicker way to total your turbo, others saying that there is no benefit from deleting the valves and that they are purely vacuum related and have no performance benefit. I'm pulling apart the Octavia next weekend to do Cambelt, water pump downpipes and decat etc, so just wondered from anyone with experience - what's the truth? Octavia VRS 53' if that makes any difference to the answer.
  14. And another introduction! I have an Octavia VRS, 53 plate, Black with a few spots of white at the front about to finally undergo a new lease of life! After calculating the costs and frustration of replacing the engine I finally decided to buy her some shiny new parts, as at 103,000 miles it's about time it had its first Cambelt and water pump change! Although...... I'm not to blame for this neglect, after a hard winter my MK2 jetta finally decided the daily drive was becoming too much (although it only had 48k on the clock) and started causing old age problems. So kindly, my parents let me borrow the VRS for the hard of the winter and never wanted it back, but, as stated its far from having a good service history so now it's time to refresh her! I have the Complete cambelt kit, upgraded water pump, plugs, oil fuel and cabin filters, slick 50 oil flush and magnetic sump plug. Then the not so necessary service items such as induction kit, down pipe decat (although obviously I will take this off every time I go on the road ) straight through centre section and lined up now for a basic remap to 218bhp or whatever it is they claim! OH - and the Briskoda external sticker too which will obviously free up another few lost ponies under the bonnet! Is there anything else worth pulling apart and replacing while I'm under the bonnet?
