  1. I pay £190 fully comp with Churchill unmodded and that is with ncp and only 5 years no claims bonus plus an accident against me due to the wife having an accident in our other car a few years ago.

I have looked at a shark stage one remap and changing my suspension and the best quote I have found so far is £320 with Liverpool Victoria.

  2. Looking to do some stuff to my facelift Tsi.

Will be after the Shark Remap as they seem to have all the best reviews and i don't mind paying more if i know it won't burn the clutch etc (even if it is a 260 mile journey EACH way).

I want the car to sound nicer and was looking at the Volkswagen Racing Induction kit but not sure if its worth it at £300. I would want to be able to clearly hear it at that price and want it to sound nice from the outside too and obviously add some more horses.

Also i'll possibly add the Whiteline Rear Anti Roll bar as it's something else that's highly recommended on this which drastically improves the handling and it's only around £170 which is also a bonus.

I DON'T want an exhaust as i've had 1 on my last 2 cars and i like being able to drive with no noise. I also don't want to add different springs or coilovers.

Would anyone recommend another induction kit or is that the best there is?

With the induction kit, RARB and remap, would you recommend getting anything else done to the car?

Been quoted around £1100 for the work, do you think that's too steep or about right and if i'm a member on here could i get a discount, or would i likely to get money off for spending that much?

    Hi,

I just wondered if you thought of using Brotek who are a shark performance dealer and are only 20 minutes outside Edinburgh and Scott who runs Brotek gets a good write up on Briskoda.

  3. I parked my Skoda on the road for a couple of days as there is always limited access on our shared driveway. I went to give it a wash on Monday and could not believe that some muppet has left a dent in the bodywork.

The proximity of the dent (above rear passenger door) suggests it was no accident and now I need a Paintless dent removal, does anyone have any recommendations? there are so many services advertised.

Are there any guys on here who carry out this type of work? I am based Bournemouth / Poole

I want to scream really loud as the car is up for sale online etc and this is a bit of a setback.

Here are a couple of companies.

  4. My vrs is 1.5 years old now but I have only done 8k miles and very little motorway driving so apart from a couple of little stone chips on the front bonnet and some small ones on the front bumper which is to be expected, my car is in great condition but I dare say if I racked up some motor way mileage things would be totally different.

  5. Got a quote for VredeStein Ultrac Sessanta, £114 fitted. I've read some good reviews on here for those tyres. How does that sound price wise if anyone has bought them themselves?

I have just fitted two Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 to my vrs and they are brilliant in the wet and dry and only cost me £214 at my local tyre fitter.

  6. Afternoon all,

So I took my VRS into the skoda garage this morning for them to look at. The problem I'm having is that my parking sensors pick up "something" when there's nothing around me. It was so bad on the drive the other week my car sounded like a police siren as it was saying i was in the critical zone at the front and rear so the bleeping was all over the place!

When I spoke to the chap at skoda he said "yea.. is it a vrs?", well yes... "oh... we've had a few of these come back... skoda say they are just too advance and they can even pick up mist"... in my mind, that;s a fault, beeping away when i'm trying to park does not help me at all.. just makes me a nervous wreck! I wonder what the story will be when I pick it up later.

I've had the car from Jab 4th and so farthe other issues are:

    1) the supaguard covering is missed from a panel

    2) the fuel cap popping in thingy is broke

    3) the whole light options cluster came entirely from the car (apart from the wires) when I tried to put the fog lights on...

    4) the air con isn't cold

You've gotta wonder if they actually do any checks on used cars before pushing them out the door?

Has anyone else experienced problems with the parking sensors on their vrs?

I am afraid this is an issue many people have reported and suffered from especially after heavy rain and wind. One of my rear sensors kept going off every time I engaged reverse but after a bit of dry weather everything is ok now and I have tried everything to stop this happening but I now know after having  my car for over a year that this is something I will have to live with.

There have been a few members on here who have even changed the offending sensors but still the issue remains and something that will happen from time to time when it rains.

    Have a look at this.

  7. My wife had an accident in her old ford focus a couple of years ago and it needed only the front bumper and bonnet replaced plus a new number plate and then painting and the total cost was £1600 which the insurance paid out and we sold the car 7 months later for £1650 as it was 8 years old and I was surprised the insurance did not write the car off as it only cost £8000 when I bought it brand new.

  8. I am torn on this issue, as certainly on paper the vRS could do with some tweaking.

I'm going to reserve judgement until I've driven the car for a few thousand miles.  However, the issues with insurance and manufacturer warranties need resolving.  Insuring a car with a remap/tuning box is tricky, and generally you will pay over the odds, whilst the grey area of who's warranty is effected if the engine goes pop is a worry.

Considering this ball-ache, and then factor in how often on a public road you get to use full power, I'm finding it hard to indulge the petrolhead in me screaming for more juice...

I know how you feel, I was also considering a remap for my petrol vrs but where I live you have to drive at least 14 miles before even getting to a bypass so that you can benefit from the extra power but all I seem to do is follow miles of traffic maybe with the odd overtake if I am lucky, so even with 200bhp I still cant use the car to it's full potential.

It also does not help when you have average speed cameras in both directions when leaving my home town, bloody annoying :@

  9. I also use the comparison sites and the cheapest quote this year for my petrol vrs was £185 with Churchill and this covers myself and my wife but she has never driven my car yet.

This includes protected NCB , guaranteed carhire and windscreen cover with a £200 excess in the event of any accident and I only have 5 years no claims discount due to my wife having an accident in my other car, so not to bad when you consider I have a claim against me and only 5 years no claims.

  10. Picked up our TSI manual on Friday. Excellent engine and gearbox but I am struggling with the feeling of lane assist. Also not that keen on the sound in sport mode it just sounds a bit false so I can see me unplugging it (where is the connector?) Other than that love it. I can get a better driving position than my Merc and the power delivery is great all across the rev range.

However wife got home today to tell my she had kerbed the alloy! Grrrrrrr not even done 200 miles in it and already needs a wheel repair.

The very reason my wife has her own car and has never driven mine, she has curbed her alloys a few times now.

  11. Hi bigdavy, newbie here from Ayr  :hi:

I've a Citigo Sport coming & i'm hoping it will be here before the October meet so wanted to ask what's happening? Is it Krispy Kreme or the other place (i've never heard of  )

Can I also ask what's the etiquette for arranging meets? There doesn't seem to be many over here in the south west so i was just wondering if it's ok to maybe suggest one sometime?

I only live 9 miles from you in Maybole, so that will make two of us so far.

  12. My 59 plate front passenger side went after 3 years @ 50k.

I was sure it was a bearing but one garage thought it was the diff and main dealer couldn't hear it...!!.

I got an Indy to change it and it was perfect. If you gut feeling is a bearing it probably is. You will lost likely not feel any play, these are modern sealed bearings.

You need to buy the hub assembly as a complete unit.

I was led to believe bearings going in vag cars was common. My mk1 vrs got through a couple of bearings in 3 years ownership.

My car was only 8 months old with 3.5k miles on the clock and the rear drivers side bearing needed replaced under warranty, so anything is possible even though it should not go at such low mileage.

  13. Wow must have been a faulty bearing

Yes it was a faulty bearing and after the mechanic drove the car for a few hundred yards he also agreed it was the bearing and they replaced it this morning and now the car is lovely and quiet once again. He did mention that it was very unusual for a bearing to go at less than 4k miles but I suppose things can happen.

  14. Hi,

I have noticed for the last week a noise coming from the rear passenger wheel while driving and it does sound like a metal to metal noise or similar to a wheel bearing away but my car is only 8 months old and has only done 3800 miles. When I got home today from work I jacked up the drives side and spun the rear wheel and it is like a metal sort of grating noise or a wheel bearing noise but the passenger side is totally quiet when I spin it, just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on the matter and my car is booked into the dealers tomorrow to have a look at it.

  15. Ooooo errrr. If I was only getting 35 I'd go mad too LOL. OJ though- I can undestand why you would want a petrol, just that for me it's just a bit too... well thirsty... Which ever way you cut the cake the CR is just a brilliant overall package for anyone wanting both power and comparative low running costs and in the Blackline it was a steal. Enjoy your tsi

    Hi,

I do see why people would want the diesel version speed with good fuel economy but for me I don't see the point as I only do less than 6000 miles a year. I was going into town earlier today which was a 22 miles round trip from my home and the maxidot did show the average when I got home of 43mpg but this was only driving at 50 - 55 mph, I do achieve on average around 35 mpg but this is with some spirited overtaking and a little bit more right foot action but not that often as way to much traffic around where I live.

As I have said before I am not bothered about the fuel consumption but about the pleasure I get from driving my vrs and it puts a smile on my face every time I am out in it.
