  1. Ah ha. Useful information greatly received, thanks. I pulled back the boot between the door & A pillar today & saw three wires that had broken insulation. Although the wires appeared to be intact, I would imagine they are the offending ones. I will have a more detailed look after Christmas with a view to doing a repair.
  2. Will do thanks. Is that likely to affect both windows if if is the case?
  3. Hi folks, The Mrs informed me today that the electric windows have stopped working on her Roomster It only has fronts & they both seem to have stopped at once & the mirrors which seem to be on the same fuse move OK. I thought drivers switch at first but the passengers door doesn't work from it's own switch either. If the wiring in one door, i.e drivers side, was broken would that affect both as it seems a bit too coincidental for both to break at the same time. I have seen mentioned somewhere something about a convenience module. Is that a likely candidate for failure & if so does a Roomster have one & where is it located? TIA Nick
  4. Hi Folks, Just a bit of advice please. I'm thinking of changing the Mrs' Roomster (1.4tdi 80) for another one, hopefully within the next 6 months as it's got well over 200, 000 miles on the clock & was wondering which is best out of a 1.6tdi & a 1.2tsi. There are quite a few low mileage ones out there, so was wondering how much of a drop in mpg I would see if we went for petrol. Also concerned about the dreaded DPF if we chose a diesel as I believe 1.6tdi models have them. Her journey to work is on fast A roads & a by pass with hardly any start- stop traffic. Any thoughts/ recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Nick G
  5. I have a similar problem with the drivers side rear blind. I was considering applying a couple of dabs of superglue & poking it back into place with a ruler.
  6. I was just giving the Mrs Roomster a hoover out after going to the tip & I noticed the instrument panel had a layer of dust on it. I wiped it over with a microfibre cloth & the lcd display went completely blank!!! Luckily it came straight back on with ignition, so I tried it again ( stupidly possibly) & the same thing happened. Again it came on with ignition. I am assuming that with the cloth having a high content of polyester it must have created a static charge. Cotton dusters work fine. Any ideas anyone? Just for the record I thought maybe I had pressed too hard on the panel, but the second time I did it I was really gentle.
  7. Probably not as I've had the car a year & not done any such thing. How do you update it & does it update to the latest maps or do you have to pay Garmin loads of money for that service?
  8. The problem is cured now, but I was wondering if anyone else had suffered it. 2014 Citigo Black edition with Garmin PID. Got in the car after around 6 hours at work & radio dispay said SDS. Media wouldn't work & no sound from PID for sat nav, although sat nav displayed O.K. Got to destination & radio didn't turn off when key was pulled out of ignition as normal or with power butoon either. Removed PID & radio came on & switched off as normal, PID back on dash problem reoccurred. After fiddling around with phone, media for a couple of minutes it all went back to normal, which is great. Trouble is I don't what caused it in the first place, nor what I did to fix it. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas.
  9. Hi folks, I was just wondering if anyone knows how the front foglights are fixed to the bumper at the factory on a 64 plate Citigo. Reason for asking is that around 3-4 months ago my car was repaired by a reputable bodyshop chain after my neighbour backed into it. The front bumper O/S headlight & O/S front foglight were all replaced, however this evening I noticed the O/S foglight has fallen inside the bumper & that the surround has a load of foam double sided tape on it which is not sticky at all. I'm slightly suspicious that this is a bodge & some sort of glue should have been used instead. I will be going back to the bodyshop to get this rectified but don't want to be fobbed off. Any help would be greatly received Nick G

    Ouch!!

Thanks that gives me some idea. Luckily it's not me who's paying so it may come out at the £700-750 mark as, after having it inspected it turns out the bracket on the front foglamp is broken so a new lamp is needed. One bodyshop guy suggested the bumper could be repaired although I not sure about taking that option as I would prefer a replacement. I don't suppose anyone has had any experience of a smart repair on their bumper. The bodyshop guy was raving about some new technique they've got which makes it "good as new", but the reason I am wary is I think it may be twisted out shape slightly. Nick

    Ouch!!

My neighbour has backed his car into the front of mine (64 reg Citigo Black Edition) & damaged the front bumper on mine & the rear of his He wants to pay for the damage without going through the insurance. As he has got a BMW M4 it's going to cost him a bit, so I just wonder if anyone has any idea how much he will have to pay to fix mine. The bumper has a big hole & is slightly dislodged so I think a new bumper is required. Poor bloke he was clearly gutted. Still he had a 911 before that & that would be an expensive fix. Thanks Nick G
  12. Hi folks I have a Black Edition Citigo with a chrome surround on the grille, but quite like the all black one seen on some Monte Carlos as I think it will suit the car better. Any idea if I have to buy a new grille , or can I keep my existing one & just change the outer frame. If so where do I get one & are they easy to change. Thanks Nick G

  14. I just bought a motion sensor light from Amazon which is magnetic & sticks to the wheel arch. I just tried it in the dark & it comes on as soon as you open the boot as a wired in one would. It automatically goes off after 20 seconds if it doesn't detect anything. It also recharges via usb. Well pleased with it as it has saved faffing about with wiring.
  15. VW group are trying a different approach in order to regain some market share & credibility in America. They have signed a deal with Peugeot to market one of their vans under one of their own brand name. Initially it will be sold in Texas to test popularity with ranch owners. They are calling it the Audi Partner.
