  1. People either move over assuming I'm the police (and then give me dirty looks out the side window as i gradually pass them) or they don't let me out at junctions as they assume I'm a taxi and think that I think that I own the road...
  2. Big Win for JMM: http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/business/news/northern-ireland-skoda-outlet-in-2m-deal-for-fleet-of-taxis-31214035.html
  3. Under heavy acceleration, my petrol VRS (stage 1 remap) appears to temporarily lose gear. For instance, driving to work this morning running a tad late, i was in 4th and pressing hard when the revs dropped and the gear indicator on the dashboard went blank for a second, and then came back in. It happened again tonight, i was in 6th already moving swiftly when i floored the accelerator and the same happened, the gear indicator went blank and the revs dropped a little before coming back round. Any ideas?
  4. So winter tyres. 15 degrees today?! ffs, regret...

  6. Research into anything should contain pulling information from multiple sources and balancing out the facts and opinions contained within.... I'm quite a cynical person, I'd look at options and reviews and see if there is money changing hands for a good review etc. I trawled the internet, rang suppliers and chatted to as many car experts I could get my hands on before taking the winter tyre plunge. What I found was anyone who tried them swore by them with more conviction than those who never tried them and considered them a fad or unnecessary in the UK. That drove my decision to buy. I then decided to buy a premium brand because as said above, I believe that those manufacturers have more money to throw at R&D and therefore develop a better product that can handle the various conditions we find in the UK. To top it off, the TS830 s were previously top in a wide amount of reviews and were competitively priced.
  7. Just bought a set of these and they really are a great tyre. Seem to wipe out aquaplaning and are very steady in the slippy stuff.
  8. So got my first experience of winters on a skiff of snow. Tried a few dramatic maneuvers and a bit of harsh braking and the car didn't flinch. No ABS lights, nothing. Now they make sense. Bring on the heavy stuff (please!)
  9. Not a problem, its easy to assume the manufacturer has accounted for this when they talk about isofix in the vehicle. Anyways, MaxiCosi are contacting Peugeot for me to get answers about this one...
  10. Its a cubby hole built into the floor of the vehicle, it appears to stop the use of the isofix base according to Mothercare. Peugeot and MaxiCosi don't seem to really know!
  11. Does anyone have experience of using MaxiCosi ISOFIX bases with a car that has rear footwell storage? All the advice has been its a no-no due to the front support leg but was wondering if anyone can advise after practical experience? The car is a Peugeot 3008.
  12. Got mine on today, Continental TS830 all round on a set of 17" Zeniths. I took it for the obligatory drive and they really change the way the car drives! The ride is significantly smoother, slightly dulled in comparison to the SC2s, but all in all very nice. I found a greasy road with leaves all over it and there wasn't even a twitch, even when i tried to upset things a bit. Now I'm hoping for an awful winter, but you can be sure as damned it'll be the mildest and driest on record... Still, let the the winter tyre experiment begin!
  13. I'm gonna have to sort mine tomorrow, my Conti SC2s are done and the traction control was flat out busy keeping me in a straight line on what was a cold and slightly greasy road. I have received plenty of abuse for giving winters a go and I'm sure it will get worse with every day in the winter that doesn't have snow/ice/frost/temp. under 10 degrees, but if you never try you never know.
  14. I have the older MFSW still to put on (waiting 6 months, life got in the road) but I am starting to fancy getting the perforated leather wheel as thats what my car currently has and it looks good.
  15. I really should have stuck to my guns and went for the red stitching interior.
  16. This morning the car was slightly frozen so I did the usual - heating on, A/C on, everything set to clear windscreen and rear window heater on. It took the car just over 5 mins to clear the windscreen, however I noticed the rear window did not seem to be clearing at all. Then I put on the rear wiper and discovered the window was covered in water on the inside! As soon as I touched it, a stream of water ran across the glass. I am assuming this moisture is getting in from those times when i open the boot lid during the rain. However, what is the recommended way of clearing this (and keeping moisture to an absolute minimum)?
  17. LOL. To be honest, I really hope this website does background checks on its punters!

  19. 1. Did anyone successfully manage to find a fix for rain pouring in when opening the boot lid? 2. Has anyone ever considered getting a power socket into the dash top cubby? Surely manufacturers have caught on that people wanna have satnavs/phones/tablets(anyone?) mounted on the dash and it would be very useful to have a power supply up there instead of cables trailing from the handbrake position? Saying that, I liked the mod carried out by someone on here that put 3 power outlets in the small box to the driver's right knee...
  20. I'm 6'3", slightly overweight  and have a year old TSI VRS. The only thing i found uncomfortable is the ride was slightly harder than what i was used to (until i got a go in a Honda Type-R and discovered what real hard suspension is!!!) I considered a Focus ST2 when i was buying, however the sports seats were so tight i couldn't sit back, and my knee was permanently resting on the light switch. As for overall - i really have abused this motor and its still very solid. There are niggles, but there are always niggles.
  21. Oh well. Still, it would be nice if they brought out s/w that gave the mk2 the analogue clock.
  22. But does anyone know if its possible to get a the MK3 bolero software on the MK2 model?
  23. I use cloud storage and its fine. For VERY important documents, i have an Iron Key: http://www.ironkey.com/en-US/
