  1. Afternoon folks. Got my eye on a Pioneer Double Din head unit for my 07 Vrs. Poped into Halfrauds earlier for a wee play with a few of them, and being a Pioneer man iv found one I want. So, obviously im needing the facia sarround and mines is the old style so they would need to order in. Then he starts going on about how id need a mounting cage at a cost of £49.99 as the new unit would be to flimsy!! Iv never played with double dins before but surely the head unit would come with its own mounting cage or is this a Skoda thing?? Any pics or links to help with what I would expect to be a straight forward replacement would be grand. Cheers
  2. Im going by my other 2 VRSs and they would get 42/43 over same routes. Im all fareness its better than the 18mpg my Subaru does........
  3. Well after an absence of nearly 2 years iv gone and bought an 07 plate VRS. Cracking motor. Couple of things id like to ask you all. 1. What are you geting MPG wise? Im geting about 37/38 and tbh, I thought it would be higher than that. 2. Need details of suttle mods i.e. front splitters etc Cheers in advance :-)
  4. No channge to my insurance at the moment although im not looking forward to my re-newal quote in March...............
  5. Failing a DIY job, get it to a proffesional vallet shop mate.
  6. Crashed my VRS on my way to work couple of weeks ago. Slid on a very greasy road and hit central barrier side on after spining it at 60mph. Insurance claim it as beyond econimical repair. Got a pay out of £1400 so was very happy with that. So, iv gone out and found a wee gem. 2003 VRS on a 52 plate,129k, full respray, alloys roconditioned, new disc and pads all round, new clutch, timing belt done at 112k, MOT in July and remapped to 220bhp all for the price of............£900......... Even my wee lad wants to help out cleaning it
  7. I hear what your all saying, but i have NEVER experienced this behaviour with braking and iv had my fare share of cars. The fact that when i took the old pads off 8 months ago after these symptoms to find them glazed over, put new pads and discs (pagid pads), and now, 8 months down the line, im getting exactly the same symptoms again. That isnt normal behaviour for brake pads of 8 month old. The car doesnt get booted or driven hard. It does do alot of 60mph braking. The pads will be gettng removed and de-glazzed next weekend.
  8. I said they were glazzed over as thats what i found when i took the old pads off. I know a glazzed over pad when i see one....... And due the way the brakes are behaving yet again, can only assume they have glazzed over again.
  9. I posted a while ago now about issues with my front brakes. In heavy rain with lots of surface water at high speeds (A roads, Motorwats etc) the brakes take a couple of seconds to take a bite. Under close inspection it was found that the pads were glazzed over. Plenty meat left on them. I did a full disc and pad change with parts from Euro Car Parts, (Not the cheap parts either). This fully cured the situation........untill now. I suspect they have glazzed over yet again. Anyone else experience this problem??
  10. Mines can be a bit strange at times. I replaced my MAF sensor last year and it actually droped my MPG from 39/40 to almost 30..........got another one sent out (as a faulty part) and had the same effect. So, i decided to unplug my MAF sensor and now im getting over 40mpg consistantly..........I do alot of A road driving from the Highlands down to Edinburgh on the A9. With these dam Average Speed Cameras up now everyone is scared to get the toe down, so average speed is now under 50mph but MPG can be as high as 46!! Plug the MAF sensor back in and it drops it down 35mpg........... So, the MAF sensor stays unplugged :p
  11. Brilliant.......would never have thought of feeler guages.
  12. Upgradeing my sound system. Wondering if anyone has any tips in getting the origional head unit out. Obviously it needs the special keys as all head units do, but stoping short of going to a Skoda dealer, has anyone got a "personal" way of removing the unit with out de-facing it? Cheers.
  13. As far as im aware it was just a remapp.
