  1. Cheers mr barge just posting this from the golf website but I take it to mean they're all virtually the same All the following turbos have the same installation dimensions and thermodynamical performance. The differences are only in the actuator that opens the turbine bypass valve: K03-011 (5303 988 0011) 150 hp, 65 N actuator K03-026 180 hp, 85 N actuator K03-035 180 hp, 85 N actuator K03-044 150 hp, 65 N actuator K03-045 156 hp (Ibiza Cupra), 85 N actuator with 2 ports K03-049 150 hp (Sharan/Alhambra), 65 N actuator The 180 hp versions have an actuator with a higher opening force due to the higher exhaust gas pressure (which is a consequence of the higher boost pressure). Otherwise the valve would be pushed open by the exhaust gas pressure. The following turbos are a further development (since 2000) and have an improved and slightly larger compressor while using the same turbine (still with the same installation dimensions): K03-052 180 hp, 85 N actuator K03-053 150 hp, 85 N actuator K03-058 150 hp/180 hp, 85 N actuator Ko3 - 97-2000 COMPRESSOR WHEEL Inducer: 33.6mm Exducer: 46mm Tip height: 3.7mm TURBINE WHEEL Inducer: 45mm Exducer: 38mm Tip height: 6.8mm Blades: 11 Ko3S - 01+ COMPRESSOR WHEEL Inducer: 38mm Exducer: 51mm Tip height: 4.4mm TURBINE WHEEL Inducer: 45mm Exducer: 38mm Tip height: 6.8mm Blades: 11 Ko4-015 COMPRESSOR WHEEL Inducer: 35mm Exducer: 50mm Tip height: 3.7mm TURBINE WHEEL Inducer: 50mm Exducer: 42mm Tip height: 6.4mm Blades: 11 See here for some more info: http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=35228 Which engines? Typically K03 are on AGU engine codes on lots of early VAG cars. K03s = AUM AUQ engine codes from the following : Mk1 Leon Cupra,Seat Ibiza Cupra, Mk1 Skoda Octavia VRS, Audi A3, A4, Boras KO3s turbo numbers: KO3-052, 053,058 or (K03/82 from a Polo GTI) For k03s If you look into the inlet, the ko3 has 12 fins, the ko3s has 8. The reason behind the different part numbers was due to one being from the Octavia (silenced version), one from the AUM/ARZ engined Golf/A3 and the other was from the 180bhp Anni Golf/Cupra
  2. Well I'm running a ko3 at the min so I'm sure this will be a improvement lol. From what I've read about them the golf boys get the same sort of power when mapped up and they run the same actuator so should make the same power more or less. I was more wondering in terms of is there any physical difference but I don't think there is
  3. Picked it up and no play in the shaft all looks good. So as I said before there is the 052 which is the silenced vrs one this is the 053 which is the aum 150 turbo but as far as I'm aware this will hold the same power as the 052 and then the 058 was fitted to the anni golf. Does anyone know why the vrs had a silencer on it???
  4. Over the past few weeks when it gets warm it has a rattle off boost. I'm thinking when the oil gets hot the turbo has play and is rattling but as soon as it starts to spool and is on boost it's fine. I've not really bothered to diagnose it as I've got a ko3s for £60 (I'm running a ko3 at the min :( ) so I'll put this on and hopefully it will cure it but if not while it's on the ramp I'll check other stuff but at least it will have the correct turbo on It's a unsilenced one, the vrs uses a 052 which has the silencer but then there's a 053 which is what I've got which is off of a aum 150 engine and a 058 is for the golf anniversary. All have a 85nm actuator on and from what I've read the 150 can be mapped up the same as a 180 when you've changed the exhaust etc. I love the sound of the ko3 that's on it now spooling so I'm hoping this unsilenced ko3s will sound just as good Hopefully get it fitted this week or at the weekend. Going to get new oil and filter and check the oil pick up at the same time. Anything else apart from gaskets worth getting?
  5. Love these in white just showed the wife it as I bought her a red one a few weeks back. Would have to have gloss white spiders on it though deffo ex police which would put me off a little bit actually
  6. Just got myself a ko3s turbo as my vrs has a ko3 on. I've got the 053 one which is a unsilenced one, just checking this will go on ok and be alright. Only paid £60 for it so that's why I took what he had as when I was googling it there's 3 types of ko3s, the 052 is a silenced one for the vrs then there's 053 and 058 ones all have same 85nm actuator on it so I've presumed they all fit
  7. Mine comes on after about a mile but I've left it not that fussed I just thought those spacers were meant to work :S I'm picking up a ko3s turbo tomorrow as I've got a ko3 on at the min so might ring jabba sport and see how much to tweak the map for this turbo and disable the rear lambda. If it's stupid money I won't bother as it is just the wife's run around and abit of play toy for me to get me out of the furby on a weekend
  8. I've got my nuespeed RARB up for sale in the for sale part if anyone is interested
  9. I'm sure the fiat coupe turbo callipers are a better fit but not 100% on that
  10. If it only does it when got then I'd get it got and unbolt the cat so the gasses come out before the cat. If it runs better then you know the cat is blocked. Used to see it a lot on vauxhalls but usually they wouldn't run or if they did they'd cut out as soon as you tried to rev it. Not sure how the exhaust is on your car you may have to actually unbolt the manifold
  11. I'd try checking if the cat is blocked. Probably not that but worth ruling out
  12. Bumping this before it goes on eBay over the weekend got a turbo now so cash offers only please
  13. I will take it out the top then. Looks abit of a nightmare to be honest but will be worth it
  14. Deffo been fitted correctly. Might drop down to my lower torque map and see how it is then
  15. It's just running a faboka stage 1 map but the standard clutch was on 120k when I mapped it and was fine until 130k so can't see why this one is slipping. Was all torqued up fine I did it myself and can't see why it's contaminated as there's no leaks anywhere
  16. Got a ko3 on my vrs at the min but it's making a noise when it's warm, sure it's the turbo as it's only noisy off boost and goes when it starts to spool so got my mate getting me a ko3s for £80. For that price even if it's not the turbo least I've got the right the turbo on. Am I best off replacing the oil feed pipe? Anything else to replace or tips for changing it?? Will obviously check for play in the shaft when I pick it up but am I right in thinking these have a mm play or so when off the car due to having no oil in? Down pipe should come off ok as wasn't long ago the turbo and down pipe was put on. Did search but couldn't find the answers I wanted. Thanks
  17. More than the cars worth!! If you just do what you can see (not inside the doors or boot or under the bonnet etc) probably about a grand. Maybe look into having it wrapped??
  18. Replaced my slipping clutch for full Sachs setup earlier this year approx 10k ago, it took aprox 1500 miles to bed in and seemed to be ok but would slip slightly every now and again but now it slips if you try to accelerate from 2-2500rpm and it's really starting to annoy me now. If you drive it through the gears it's fine but go for a 5th/6th gear overtake it slips probably 500-750rpm and then it catches up. Would a pressure bleed help although I'm sure it's bled fine as I've had no problems with it. Running the same power it did on the standard clutch and that lasted 10k but this has never been 100%. Any other suggestions short of getting a new clutch and trying to send this back to carparts4less??
  19. Neglected this thread abit as I've been doing bits to the octy My alternator started to make a noise so rather than replace the clutch pulley I changed the alternator, tensioner and belt. Probably the easiest alternator I've ever changed!! All on and no noises now also changed the front tyres, cured the wheel wobble when braking but still judders under heavier braking so need to change the discs even though they're still like new :( will service it soon and probably do them at the same time
  20. Wish my mate had had it done lol. If I end up having to get it mapped again I'll have it done but hoping I don't need to!!
  21. For £20 it's worth doing, if it sounds gash then it's not like you've wasted loads of money. Done this to a few cars and on my st170 I left the mid box in but put a diesel back pipe on which had no box in. Should sound ok though as the back box will determine the sound but I'd of thought it will be quite abit louder
  22. eBay item no 231093801734 it was £8 delivered.
  23. Did you get yours done? How did you get on with it?
