Good stuff. By the way, you left your number plate uncovered in one of the shots.

All I can tell you is that it's about a 3 hour job.

Seems to happen a lot in these cars. I got it the first time after I had the car about six months, sucked me in that time. I've seen it pop up a couple of times in the four years since, but the remote keeps on working, so I haven't bothered replacing it.

If you do a search for "front arb" you will find a few topics. Here's one of the bigger ones: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/350962-farb/#comment-4208370

I think I had something similar. I suspected it was because I was used to cars where the pedals are closer together, and I was stepping on the pedal a bit off-centre. Since I consciously readjusted I haven't noticed the "creak" I was getting.

21.7 mpg? Not warmed up, or having a good time?

I've done about 1500km on Bridgestone Potenza RE003's and highly recommend them. I did my favourite "back roads" course on slightly wet roads with no brown trousers moments recently, and find the traction control (when on) not flashing as much as I am accustomed to.

Very disappointing, mate. What are you going to get next?
-
You haven't modified the rear suspension, have you? My rear sway bar is, I'm sure, a source of creaking from the rear at slow speeds over uneven ground. Suspension guys insist it's fitted correctly. Sometimes, these sorts of sounds seem to come from other places.

I've just started running Bridgestone Potenza RE003's. Very impressive, I wouldn't have believed a tyre could improve handling so noticeably. It's cut the amount of flashing amber lights and wheelspin, even allowing for the fact they're newer than the tyres they replaced (Dunlop Direzza DZ102).
I don't mind the OEM Dunlops either, but the Bridgestones were available on a four for the price of three deal, and what was going to be two front tyres replaced turned into all four...

Not sure what to make of this, though I was sure he had fallen out of love with these cars....

Hi All,
Thought i would just post up to ask if any other Vrs owners have had their water pump fail? Several of us.... It seems to be a common issue cropping up.

I came across a solution to a very similar problem on another forum recently http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/f40/odd-ac-smell-like-pure-alcohol-117909.html

Tyre pressure monitoring is not that good - it takes several kays to "realise" when something's wrong.

What oil are you using now, is it 0w 40 ?
Still on 5W/30, but definitely changing to a 40 grade next service.

It's funny. Mine uses no or very little oil for the first 3,000km after a service, then it starts going though it as the oil gets a bit older, especially if I have many short journeys. It also accelerates the rate of use as the level gets lower.

Did you buy the nail polish yourself, George?

I trust the "I bought one" wasn't the entity calling itself "VXH26" or whatever it is these days...

Occasionally, going over bumps, it's not unusual to hear a hiss. Is it a new noise, or has it always happened?

Skoda need to come out with a new Fabia RS, or at least something with a fair bit more poke than the 81kw version. An Octavia is too big for my needs (not that it's that large).

36psi is the standard recommended pressure for 205/40 R17, which equals 250kPa, so I believe you are spot on!

5th year service today. Liqui Moly 5W/40 in, so we'll see how that goes.
