  1. Finally went ahead this week and had the Eibach Pro-Kit fitted (lowers the front 20mm and the rear 10mm) and I'm very pleased with the result. The car rides the bumps better and yet the handling is firmer / sharper. The lowering of the car is just about spot on as the car now looks like it should have done when it rolled out of the factory (the 19" extremes now fill the arches nicely) - why Skoda (and a lot of other modern cars) insist on producing sporty cars on stilts is beyond me.

Great value and service for the work at AMD Tuning, Essex - price included springs, fitting and 4 wheel laser alignment afterwards (which is a must).

  2. My Columbus sat nav seems to be obsessed with trying to guide me down single lane country roads, presumably thinking it is the faster route, when in reality some of the roads it takes me down are barely passable and you're limited to about 10mph!!

Is there a way in the settings / route options to avoid small single lane roads? Looking at the options and the user manual it there appear to 3 options - economical / shortest / fastest.

All of them still appear to favour single lane roads!!

    Any advice?

  3. I'm thinking about getting the Eibach pro-kit for my Estate vRS, primarily to reduce the ride height a little (stock vRS suspension has always been a bit too high for my liking).

The Eibach Pro-kit looks like a good option as it only lowers the front by 20mm and the rear by 10mm - ideal for me as I don't like cars that are slammed to the ground and also, should also still allow for the car to be loaded up with camping gear!

I have a couple of questions though....

    1. Will just fitting the Eibach springs damage or shorten the life of the OEM dampers (drop is only 20mm/10mm)? If so, would the Bilstein B12 pro kit be a better option (although a much bigger investment)?

    2. Does anyone have any experience of how the pro kit affects the ride - better over bumps / firmer etc?

    3. Does anyone have any experience of how the pro kit affects the handling? the vRS handling is pretty good as standard (just about).

  4. When I got mine 2 years ago I knew real world use wouldn't do them any good.so fitted allloy gaters. Not pretty but..... Only tyres I found on replacement to try to limit it was the F1's. Removed the gaters and left with rub marks.n now have 1 scuffed rim. To me Skoda are too blame, nice rims but no tyre can help limit issue. Had thought of having them fully sprayed. That way next time it's just a bit of filler and paint

How can Skoda be to blame? As I say to the wife regularly (who isn't allowed to drive my vRS) just don't drive it into the bloody kerbs!

  5. What was the outcome with this in the end ?

The dealer advised me t top up the coolant and monitor it. So I topped up the coolant about 2 weeks ago to the max level - it doesn't appear to have moved since!

I suspect that the level was only ever topped up to the MIN level when it left the factory......cheapskates!!

I don't appear to have the "misting rear windscreen" problem (apart from nice cold mornings when the engine is cold) so fingers crossed all is well.

  6. Before you waste a journey to the dealers, check it cold, then run it for 8-10 miles and check again. It may have risen slightly. You don't want it above max. If there is a tiny weep, you may not notice coolant on the drive.

The coolant level appears to be the same (min) cold and straight after a drive. Might just be a case of topping it up and keeping an eye on it.

  7. Many Volkswagen Group engines will have a technician top up the coolant to 'MAX' and by the time the vehicle had reached running temperature and covered some miles the coolant is nearer the 'MIN'.

The thing is really if you do not check yourself after a Service, Oil Level, Coolant Level, Tyre Pressures,

then you are trusting to them being checked and correct.

    Vorsprung Durch Technik.

In God we trust, in Technicians and Fitters we double check.

I always check oil after a service and tyres regularly anyway. Never had a car where the coolant level has ever moved though (assuming it was above MIN when I got the car). Coolant is not something I've had to check regularly on any recent modern cars!

  8. Did you not get a car 'Health Check' print out in the Folder even though you might not have a Service Book.?

The Coolant is a Fluid and should be checked, even with a Minor Service.

After all you are paying for them to do more than just change Oil & Filter.

Yes the health check report they gave me says the coolant was checked and all is ok. Depends whether they actually checked it and if the coolant being on the MIN level is normal. All other cars Inc previous mk2 vrs the coolant has always been on max and never changed.

Something to ask the dealer on Tuesday.

  9. My coolant (Vrs tsi) is also now at minimum and it was only in for its 1st service a month ago (they probably didn't bother to check the coolant). Can't say I've noticed rear misting other than on a cold morning but then again I haven't really looked out for it.

Seems there's 2 possible issues from reading threads on here. The turbo or a leaky water pump...

Have to wait until Tuesday now for the local dealership to open :(

  10. Having read recent posts about water pump leaks and coolant leaks in the turbo I thought I'd check my coolant level and guess what? It's at the minimum level!

Local garage us now closed until Tuesday. Should I wait until then to call them and keep any mileage to a minimum or is it worth calling Skoda assist? Not sure they'd be able to do anything other than take it to the local garage would they?
