  1. Hey Gang, Any ideas on how to remove the rear view mirror on a pre FL? LOOKS like it just 'unclips, from the little arm that attaches to the windscreen but not sure, kind of looks like it grabs it with 4 claws, do you have to try and jam a screwdriver in them and pry it off??
  2. They do indeed, mixed opinions on converting to single mass depending on gearbox. I'd stick with a DMF is you need to change. You need a Stage 1 and apparently you'll notice a huge difference, these engines are well held back in standard form.
  3. Xenon's?? Well that's rare, winner. Sounds like it's been looked after!! Assuming your is a petrol?? How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking?
  4. Hi everyone, Well, ordered a new rubber seal from Skoda for my vacuum pump as there's evidence of a slight leak. Unfortunately it's slightly too big but also a different shape? Mine kind of 'squary' and the new one is cylindrical, picture attached. Anyone know of the right code I need??
  5. Hi mate, Needless to say, Oil and filter, Air and pollen filter, fuel filter (this could be a t*#t so make sure your not relying on the car!) Plugs Cam follower Updated diverter valve New PCV Cambelt and pump Camchain and Tensioner (only small but still a £500 job same as the cambelt) Done all of the above on mine and fitted an oversized Ramair filter in mine which sounds amazing and improved the sound and drivabilty immensely, bit childish I know. I'll be selling mine soon otherwise a stage 1 remap is a must, feel quite lardy and sluggish in standard form.
  6. Ouch Ken 😂 I'll send it to come get you if your not careful! It's big and angry enough
  7. This does indeed do away with the engine cover, and thank god for that! It was so annoying not being able to see the engine/pipes/hoses etc without having to whip it off 🙂 the noise is much better in reality especially when driving. I've taken off the sound proofing under the bonnet too which helped a tad. Luckily I've had both my belt/pump done plus my chain and tensioner so the engine just has that sewing machine noise from the HPFP which is a good sign. The Ramair thing I have no idea
  8. Hi Gang, Just wanted to share my opinions having fitted a Ramair kit on my Pre FL VRS. In short I'm made up with it 😂 and before anyone starts, I've been driving for 23 years and heard every story going about fitting induction kits/heatsoak panel filters etc so please don't try and educate me.... I'm just a big kid and I needed to replace 2 of the intake pipes due to splits so that's my excuse 😊 All in all the sound is what I was after and boy that's what I got 😂 it clearly makes it's prescense known! Having had 5 Imprezas over the years I miss the sound of the boxer engine/ chatter etc, although this isn't close it's certainly made the case sound amazing compared to standard. The throttle response is so much better, it literally feels like the massive cone is on the end of my foot 😂 my head is telling me the car is quicker which I doubt it's added any BHP, although I found a bad vacuum leak and my fixes on the split intake pipes might not have been 100% so possibly I've gained some power back. I've tried to get some videos of sound when driving but it does it zero justice, it sucks and chatters quite loudly as soon as the turbo spools around 1700rpm dying off as the revs rise. Need to do an engine detail ASAP also.. Next up the essential stage 1 MAP...
  9. Well well WELL!! I got itchy feet so went outside with my head torch and work light to start taking the Ramair off to inspect! And I FOUND it!!! 👏👏👏 bloody pipe come undone under the new intake piping/heatshield so couldn't see it! 🙂 Going to have to get a new one from the dealer it's a funny one. Does this lead to the servo? Then onto what? Bodged it for now so I can get the intake fitted again and get back on the road 🙏
  10. I know, it makes sense. I'm pretty 100% it's not the kit or the fitting though, it's only pipework and a foam filter. If anything, installing the old gear would be worse as I had repaired splits in both the intake pipes! 😂 plus all the engine will be covered again making it harder to trace the fault 🙄 I need my car for a Thursday though so I'm stuck
