  1. Hi mate, I've had a few PM's on this - probably a good idea to update. The wheels are off the car Tuesday night. I'll clean them up on Wednesday and get inside and front face photos taken and posted. Stu
  2. Haha. I try and leave Lean at work (apart from 5S in the garage). I reckon I'd be single if I tried setting up the cupboards using kanban, or gave my girlfriend a takt time to do the washing up!
  3. It's awesome to see someone else from a similar background. People often stare at me blankly when I mention 'Lean Manufacturing.' Genchi Genbutsu and Gemba are key management tools used in my organisation to 'go see' or understanding what is actually happening versus what we believe is happening. Something not always fully understood. As you've probably guessed my organisation is American, we have some twists on Japanese principles such as 6S instead of 5S. Although we do use Jidoka and poka-yoke principles to help resolve problems. You're right about poor planning causing issues with successfully VSM events. However the payoff from a good VSM can be a strong rapid continuous improvement plan designed to make the right changes, with the right resources and organisational direction. If successful this can help offset the initial capital investment of a VSM.
  4. Interesting concept. Although if you look at Toyota and the concept of 'kata' the belief is kaizen 'change for better' is now being viewed as; empowering people to be able to take initiative to drive a company forward, through creating routines which allow the correct behaviours to be made a habit. The concept of having several kaizen events per year is changing. If this concept is used, people wait for these events; making continuous improvement and growth a specialist division. Instead it's being suggested that improvement processes or behaviours should be built into 'everything we do.' Sorry that went off topic, it was interesting as I rarely hear anyone mention kaizen or VSM outside of my workplace. Have you had experience of kaizen if you don't mind me asking?
  5. They all have 312mm discs, both preface-lift and facelift standard vRS's.
  6. Nicely done mate. Is it not the nicest experience when you turn the key with your breath held; hoping it's fixed..... and it is!
  7. 312 mm diameter (think by 25mm). Someone will correct if I'm wrong.
  8. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/258465-poorly-tfsi-vrs/ My experience!
  9. Mine died in spectacular style; I actually thought it was terminal engine failure. No boost; running on 3 cylinders and couldn't get above 15 mph due to the severity of the misfire. I was literally 1 minute from my house luckily so limped it home. In the week prior to the main failure I had; issues with boost, the car felt completely flat at times (like an NA). It was like driving in 50 degree Celsius heat; it felt that sluggish. I also noticed hesitations as I accelerated in gear. However, I kept driving mine hard to make the problem occur in the manner it did; just so I could finally find the issue.
  10. I had no fault codes stored when my coilpacks failed.
  11. Should add I'd rather not send these due to weight and risk of damage. I am heading to Manchester soon (end of January) so could arrange to travel with wheels along that route if people want to meet up.
  12. I'd be wary of long journeys; also if you do drive it, I wouldn't use full throttle. Just drive it gently until your packs are replaced. I kept driving mine hard to force the hesitation to occur........ but unfortunately went a bit too far in my research. No harm done though, just frustrating.
  13. Mine did the exact same thing shortly after a remap. However, mine ended up running on 3 cylinders - I had noticed a hesitation in the week leading up to this but ignored it. Four new coilpacks fixed the problem. If yours are original, I may be tempted to start there. Contact your local Skoda dealer as these were part of a recall; and your car may be affected.
  14. Photo's to be attached (currently dirty; still on car - until 23/01/15) Specification: - 18 x 7.5 ET51 - 4 Goodyear Eagle F1's - done about 600 miles. - Tyres are 235/40/18 - Not the standard size fitted; they were put on after an operation to 'soften' the ride on my car temporarily (cheaper than putting standard springs on). - New centre caps (older style - green badge). Condition: - Refurbished in gloss black by The Wheel Specialist - Full tyre off refurbishment and powder coated. - No kerb marks at all. - One spoke has a small stone chip; appears a stone has flicked up and hit the spoke. Only noticed when cleaning wheels - can attach picture. - Recent hunter alignment: All wheels straight; no buckles. Reason for Sale: - New set of Audi wheels on their way. Price: £475
  15. I think APR is the only 3" TBE. My vRS is running a 3" Pipewerx downpipe mated up to a Milltek cat-back exhaust. I had to get the downpipe cut / modified and a section of 3" piping adapated to enable it to fit the Millteak exhaust due to the difference between the 2.5" standard section on the Pipewerx (as it attaches to a standard exhaust) and the 2.75" diameter Milltek connecting section.
  16. For some reason that reminded me of Trigger and his broom!
  17. 06 plate TFSI on 120,000 miles. As long as it's serviced on time; the engine will outlast the bodywork!
  18. 06 plate TFSI on 120,000 miles. As long as it's serviced on time; the engine will outlast the bodywork!
  19. A performance panel filter won't achieve much on a TFSI engine. It's the actual design of the standard engine cover/airbox which causes restrictions. I have a Neuspeed P-Flo with an AmD heatshield (bought separately). Definitely helps the car breathe better at Stage 2 and removes the standard airbox set-up altogether. Check our Awesome GTI,they have a big range of intakes for our cars.
  20. If you type TFSI turbo heatshield into Google, there is a company called garagemidnight.com who sell the heatshield for £25.
  21. No problems. Yes the P-Flo came with the heatshield under the MAF section. However, it didn't come with one to separate the cone filter from the engine bay; so I bought one from AmD.
  22. I'm running a Neuspeed P-Flo on a vRS TFSI. To be honest I doubt there will be any difference between mine and Autotech bar the name. They seem to be of similar construction: 1 large pipe with a neck to the turbo and a cone filter. Only thing to add is the heatshield under the MAF section and perhaps a heatshield from the likes of AmD (although my separate heatshield cost £90). If you can get the Autotech one cheaply; do it. My P-Flo gained 9 bhp and 27 lb-ft on a RR at stage 1. Did loose a bit of lowdown torque but improved midrange and top end performance.
  23. I got mine from Awesome GTI; they're one of the forum sponsors.
  24. Milltek resonated turbo back exhaust on mine. Sounds standard driving along normally. However, when I open it up and the boost comes in the exhaust note changes and sounds a lot more sporty. You can hear the turbo clearly.
