  1. Nice RIB! I had an S2 L&K 2lt petrol before this one and it gave around 31mpg on Tesco 99 or 97 RON solo. The 280 can return 30 if I drive gently. In Eco I can get 36 or so, but really, why buy a 280 if you are going to blunt it’s performance. Towing, I got around 23-26 mpg, but then the rear wing of the Atom acts like a huge air brake when it’s on the trailer!
  2. I noticed that the rear of my 18 plate 280 L&K was sitting a bit low when I hitched up my PRG twin axle the last time I headed off for a track day. All handled fine, but got me wondering what other people towing rigs look like.
  3. £450? Is that from a specialist or a Skoda dealer?
  4. Ah. I have a removable swan neck. You unlock and depress the pedal and it drops out. It locks back in automatically. the electrics look to be solidly mounted, however I will check. The car car still runs in eco mode, but being a 280, that’s not why I bought it :-)
  5. Hi TTruckie, No worries. I was quoted £817 supplied and fitted which was comparable to a car specific 13pin fit from a specialist. The bill shows £330 labour, £210 for the bar, the rest being fitting kits, vat etc. Will take some pictures as I think they did a good job.

  7. Got it back. Nice job, includes a new rear valance and rear cross member (they kindly have given me the old one should I want to swap back when I sell the car). Don’t know why the software was such an issue. They just said the new loom would couldn’t be recognised. It is now, so hopefully it was a better fix than turning it off and on again.
  8. So I need to tow my toy car to track days (I’m getting old and the thought of no windscreen, no heater, no doors, no roof, no music, no comfort etc after 8 hours of extreme noise/speed terror doesn’t seem that appealing) and took my L&K 280 estate to the dealer to get a removable tow bar fitted. I figured, as it’s an 18 plate, I had better preserve my warranty and go OEM despite the scary quote for parts and fitting. They have had the car for two days now and want it for a third as they are struggling with the software. Anyone else had this problem? cheers winmoz
  9. Thanks, but my issue is that CarPlay overides the “business phone” connection. I run two phones, one personal, the other for work. The standard phone connection allows both to be toggled easily, but Carplabdrops then both and only allows the phone connected by cable to be used.
  10. Is only via cable with my set up (Canton). It charges the phone as well.
  11. Thanks guys. On booting the car up this morning the phone was recognised. Happiness is restored (although am still a little miffed that CarPlay drops the hands free phone connection.
  12. My iPhone XS updated to 12.1.2 whilst I was on a trip in Europe and when I picked my car (MY18 280 L&K estate since you asked) from the airport car park, CarPlay has refused to work. The system refuses to recognise that I have plugged a device in via USB. Since it was late and I was keen to get home I didn’t play around too much lat night, but before I go and sit in the car outside the house and fiddle about (much to the amusement of the neighbours), does anyone have any tips? thanks
  13. The Beast from the East saw us stranded on a snowy hill that even our snow socks couldn’t help us get up. A helpful tractor driver towed us up the hill, although his 4wd Massey Ferguson was struggling for traction. In order to lighten the load manually selected 2nd gear and put some drive in We got up the hill. Then we got towed by a S2 Land Rover when the lane we where on got overwhelmed by snow drifts. Again, I manually selected 2nd and applied drive to keep momentum up. Fastforward a couple of weeks. Car is at dealers as it keeps going into limp home mode. Multiple error codes (gear selector, speed sensor, high pressure in fuel rail). Did the tow upset the ECU?
  14. So, trip to the dealer. Rear brake light holder had become splayed, so an easy fix. EPC has loads of fault codes stored. High fuel rail pressure, gearbox gear selection conflict, road speed sensor error. Car misfires under load and trips limp home mode. I suspect the fact that I got stuck on a snowy hill in Cumbria and had to be towed out may have something to do with the gearbox/roadspeed falut codes. But the fuel rail is the one that I am concerned about.
