  1. True. But a little bit of assistance would have been good. As it happens the off duty police officer was a real help.
  2. I was following the bus home one morning, when i had to stop behind it as it let a passenger get off. As the bus pulled away from the stop it threw up some road debris which hit the guy who had just got off squarly in the face, throwing him backwards about six foot and rendering him unconscious. The two cars immediately behind the bus must have seen the incident but carried on. I stopped to help the guy who was still in an unconscious state. I checked that he was still breathing, then phoned for an ambulance. Fifty cars must have rubbernecked past but offered no assistance. An off duty police officer then stoped to help. He thought the guy was dead ! Thankfully by the time the ambulance arrived he was coming round. And what was it hit him in the face? It was a brush off a road sweeper, it flicked up off the back wheel off the bus. I caught the whole incident on my dash camera, I told the police who was going to collect a copy, but sadly I am still waiting. The incident happened in a rural area and if it was a month or so later ho would have been out of sight because of the long grass and hedgerow.
  3. Auto is fine in the snow. Even better with a set of winter tyres.
  4. it will only show as open if it has failed in the open position. There is no warning to show the position is closed.
  5. A simple test. Set your door locks so they auto rearm on the maxidot . Lock the vehicle and let it arm and settle. Unlock the doors using the normal procedure. Open the tailgate, and leave it open. Do not open any of the passenger doors. Stand by the car. If the doors auto rearm after a couple of minutes then the switch in the boot lock has failed. Oh and the boot light should not light at any time. I hope this helps.
  6. I recently had tohave a new lock fitted to the boot. The microswitch within the lock failed and was telling the car the tailgate was shut when it was actally open. The boot light would not activate and if one of the doors was not opened the car would auto rearm the alarm etc. This could be the cause of your issues, say the microswich had failed in the open or closed position. Your first post says the boot light does not work at any point. I would put money on the microswitch in the lock.
  7. I know winter tyres have been discussed to within an inch of their lives on here, but one thing I would like to know is this. What pressures do you run them at. I have a set of 205/55 ×16's on steel wheels originally supplied by Skoda. Last year I run them at 2.2 bar on the front and 2.1 on the rear, as these are the pressures recommended for the larger 17" standard tyres.
  8. I travel to mainland Europe quite often and find the maxi dot kph reading really usefull.
  9. I was always under the impression that disc brakes were self cleaning. Unlike drums ! You only had to see a puddle with drum brakes and you had to drive with your foot gently waming the brakes to dry them out. Ah the good old days ! Not !!!
  10. It is definitely the switch in the lock mechanism. This is because on a full unlock if I open the tailgate only, after a short while the Yeti auto re-arms the alarm and locks the doors. If the switch was operating correctly this wouldn't happen. It is booked in at the dealers to be replaced under warranty along with the slowly disintegrating tailgate badge.
  11. I have noticed recently when I open the boot on my Yeti, sometimes the boot light doesn't come on. Sometimes it comes on after a few seconds. If I go in the boot sometimes without opening a door it auto re-arms. I suspect the micro switch in the lock mechanism to be at fault, but having removed the lock today I cant even see the switch. I can hear it clicking as I manualy move the lock mechanicals. Has anyone ever had any experience of one of these locks before. I may have to take it to the main dealers for a coat of looking at.
  12. I got inthe Yeti today. When I started it it bonged and the message came up, driver assist button not working. When I drove off the direction indicators didnt work or the radio volume. I stopped switched off and restarted and all was ok. Looks like a one off weird electrical glitch, hopefully !
  13. Well to report back. Makenzies did a marvelous job on the second service. The Yeti is still on the variable service plan so all being well in the universe I will returns it to them next year. My initial complaint about the main dealers was the fact I had called them twice and both times they failed to call back after I was promised a call. I would have booked the Yeti in with them for the service as I have had nothing to complain about with them previously. I feel somewhat let down by them.
  14. I phoned my regular main agent for a price for a second service on my 2.0 tdi yeti. Twice they were busy and whoever answered the phone had my details and promised a call back. Sadly they didn't and have now lost my custom. It is off to Makenzies in Lichfield monday who are an independent VW Audi Skoda and Seat garage. I have had no dealings with them but a family member has with his Audi A8 and was really pleased with the service he got from them. Has anybody on here used Makenzies for servicing or any other Skoda related repairs ?
  15. I totally agree with the above for running the cable, there is no need to remove any trim panels. Got my dash cam up by the mirror on the screen, and had no issues with the cable or the piggyback fuse connector. All fitted in a matter of minutes.

    Beards

My wife drives the Yeti. She isnt retired but does have the most luscious of beards.
  17. I am not entirely sure if I like the new badge. Also the front badge and wheel centres will have to be changed to match.
  18. Thanks for the replies. I will speak with my dealer next week. Perhaps get the badge replaced during the next service.
  19. Do Skoda replace them free or will I have to pay ? The Yeti is not two years old yet so the anti corrosion warranty is still running.
  20. Has anyone had the badge on Skoda badge on the tailgate replaced because it is showing signs of corrosion around the edges ? I am going to speak to my dealer about it next week. This week the Yeti is off to the bodyshop for a light car park scrape repair. Thank goodness for cctv which caught the perpetrator.
  21. I have to totally agree with Gyp. A really simple and effective way to add a feed for sat nav or camera. Great post , Great yeti.
  22. I have just used one of the piggy back fuse holders for my dash cam. I could only find one fuse that went dead with the ignition off. That was the fuse for the wipers. Has anyone else used one and which fuse did they use. The piggy back did fit well and seemed well made.
  23. Thanks berniebloke I was just looking for a working link.
  24. Here is a link to the Association of British Insurers list of insurance companies and if notification of changing to winter tyres is needed. https://www.abi.org.uk/.../ABI%20guide%20to%20%20%20The...https://www.abi.org.uk/.../ABI%20guide%20to%20%20%20The...
  25. It's not the fact that I have had to replace the wipers, its the poor state that they were in. I have never had to replace blades that has split like these had in such a short time. Mind you I suppose they do work hard with the amout of rain we have had recently.
