  1. Hi, you say Oxford is your nearest dealer but you've doubts. If you live south of there try Winchester. Simply brilliant with electrics (and all else). I live 200 metres from a dealer, Meadens, who were utterly useless at anything other than regular service. So now we drive 30 miles to Winchester (Superb and Citigo IV).
  2. Superb IV was serviced today, and the garage asked 'why have you for two extended warranties'? I have only just renewed after receiving an email from Skoda two weeks ago saying 'Your extended warranty is running our, please renew' which I did. I trusted them. But my garage said the first one (including servicing) didn't actually run out until November, so I'd be paying for two. They gave me the number of VW Finance, who confirmed the initial policy, which runs to November. But they said they were unaware of the second. However they said Skoda do their own extended warranties, nothing to do with VW Finance, (and gave me their number) as actually do a third sanctioned private company on Skoda's behalf. All say Skoda extended warranty, and come with their letters, emails, marketing books. Nice chap, Abdullah, was very sympathetic, up to the point of actually helping (typical 'Customer Services' in other words). So I rang Skoda direct, and yes, it was their email I received last month and which I signed up to. I asked 'Why did you say my extended warranty was running out' when it wasn't. They explained they couldn't see the VW Finance one and the 'Your warranty is expiring' is simply a marketing ploy, true or not. I've cancelled this new policy, but it feels like another con, and many thanks to Winchester Motors for spotting it. And black mark, another, for Skoda for having duplicate systems which can't see each other, and conning customers. You've got to be so sharp these days.
  3. Had my L&K iV for four and a half years. Only just sorted out the chain of errors, mainly infotainment and sat nav, some parts failures (extended warranty). Mind you, I've changed garages, and the first seemed a bit between the curve, maybe could have been sorted sooner. So, I'm back in love and it's a keeper!
  4. I had it replaced under warranty...but it took eight months to source the part. Mind you, my garage, Meadens, had been poor and I'm not convinced they handled it efficiently. I also had a charger controller failure (after a battery recall Meadens vouldn't tackle), and Winchester Skoda sourced it same day. Best of luck.
  5. I have the diagnosis print out (provided by Winchester Skoda) which shows the fault from last summer onward.
  6. Best of luck...hopefully your dealer can just plug it in and diagnose, but it sounds like a dodgy wiring connection, or moisture in the electrics.
  7. I've an iV, currently in France, and like the clock it has adjusted automatically according to GPS. The only think I change (if you've an electronic dashboard) is change to kilometres in the settings/units menu.
  8. Finally, had a safety recall done last week to repair insulation on the main battery (it's an iV). My local garage, Meadens in Brockenhurst, Hants, are literally at the end of my road, couldn't do it as they are the wrong 'level' of services, don't have the kit, nor the training. So after a long wait it went to Skoda Winchester some 40 miles away. They discharged the battery, dropped it out, did the recall work, and put it back together. Two days, excellent communication and service. But then they found they couldn't re-energise the battery, the pre-cursor to charging it. Interrogated the car computer, and found several identical fault reports going back to July last year that the charging control unit was faulty. I have had charging issues, spoken to Meadens, who blamed the supplied cable. Meadens have had the car several times since last July, normal service, software upgrade after a nav fault, and faulty SOS module which they replaced after it started making random calls. Each time they've plugged the computer in. That's how they diagnosed the SOS unit failure. But not once have they told me the charger control unit was faulty, nor tried to address it. Winchester even had to argue that it was covered by my extended warranty, and fortunately won, its a £2000 part. So well done Winchester and back on the road in six days. But Meadens really let me down. I queried this and had an email about having to drain the coolant to diagnose the charger unit issue as if that makes the difference. So I have asked them again to explain. Either did they miss it (unprofessional and incompetent) or did they ignore it and fail to tell me (negligent and destroys my trust). Maybe it too was beyond their service level, but surely it should be communicated to me. Even my service record from this Feb fails to mention any issues and gives a clean bill of health. Or another reason. What would you do or think? Should I use Meadens (who we've bought four new cars from over the years, such is my trust) again...should others trust them? UPDATE: July 9. Heard back, some apologies for lack of comms, but basically they can't remember, long time ago, claim it's undocumented, and as trust has broken down, could I use another dealer henceforth. They say I only complained when I had a problem. Duh?! So no proper explanation, and sacked by Meadens. Actually had reached the same conclusion about their failings, so after four cars bought and serviced there, ta ta.
  9. I took it back to the garage, the oil was a bit low, but it also needed a software update (I recall, it's been several years). It solved the issue.
  10. Sadly not on finance...like the idea of a direct email. Meadens said they could only talk to their regional director...which is useless. Do you have an email address please?
  11. Five months ago my Superb IV's SOS module failed. Warnings on starting, and management scheme ever since, emergency call light on, etc.. My dealer, Meadens, said it needed a new SOS module. Five months on none has been sent. Today is MoT and service, and another promise 'we'll do it at the same time' missed. Garage blames Skoda UK and say the part isn't available due to the war in Ukraine. Can anyone confirm (or not) these are made there? Anyone else waited as long? It makes the (extended) warranty not worth the paper it's written on. And don't get me started on the 'safety recall' a year ago which they still can't do.
  12. Yet more issues...this time a hybrid malfunction with garage advisory. They've greased the plug lock. But told me the cause may be a 'non-Skoda charge lead' is the cause. Surely it's just like any other power lead (well any other power lead which costs £100+). Can anyone confirm if a) the Skoda leads are any different to other Class 2 plugs and leads, and b) if this can cause an issue? TIA.
  13. No garage round here is tooled up for the recall...had it booked into Winchester in March, but they rang and said they couldn't do it...Westover Bournemouth said at that time they were hoping to get trained and tooled. My local garage Meadens is only Class 2 so can't drop the battery. So much for safety...
  14. As above, booked into Winchester some two months ago - they rang me today to say they couldn't do it - car was with them tomorrow and Friday. Really annoying - they've known about the tool issue (they confessed) since August, and I really think they should have warned me when they took the booking, and then given me more than 18 hours notice. Even more annoying is that my iV needs its first MoT next week - which they were going to do. There is no point driving 100 miles round trip for an MoT, so more rushing around now, fortunately my local Meadens have stepped up to the plate. Finally, I've had urgent messages (two) from Skoda on the ICE saying it needs this urgent recall and I've not had it done. How can I when Skoda haven't supplied garages with the tools. Honestly, bloody bunch of incompetents, the lot of them. After four Superbs, Citigo, Yetis, my next car will NOT be a Skoda. EDIT: Spoken to Hendy Bournemouth (lovely Service chap called Tony). They're gearing up to do this work, needs technician training, but are also building a list and will be in touch when they're up and running - so worth giving them a ring.
  15. Can't help on what is Level Three and what's not. I didn't know Meadens couldn't do such things before they referred me for the recall. If Salisbuty is level three I'll be irritated as its closer!
  16. They stopped putting sim slots in three years ago...now uses an e-sim, data is fixed to Cubic Telecoms, and you buy data on line. https://skoda.cubictelecom.com/en
  17. OK, this is recall 93L8 for a repair to the high voltage battery launched in January (my garage says). Showing on Elsa (Skoda's internal system) but the Skoda recall app says nada...again Skoda Customer Services demonstrating skill as a chocolate fire guard. Two days, only Level Three garages, as the battery needs to be dropped out. Not sure but maybe iV owners may want to check.
  18. Thanks, but odd...it had another recall last year, and this one (I saw the paperwork) is deffo Jan. But the link describes it perfectly...three days. Again thanks.
  19. Just been told (as my 20 plate IV went in for a week to try again to sort out software) that I've also got a recall. Issued 5 Jan, can only be done in a 'Level 3' garage...mine at the end of the road is level 2 for electrics. So that means a 40 mile journey to Winchester the nearest they say. And minimum of two days. So 160 miles in total there and back twice. And 'maybe' a courtesy car. Anyone know what the recall is for, and who only some garages can do it?
  20. Update: Well, the latest 'update' failed again...and in fact my iV has developed new fault codes. My garage are being very honest, and again they're trying to resolve it with the Czech mothership. So I'll leave my Superb for a week in the New Year. Meanwhile Skoda UK have failed to respond to the garage to extend the warranty (see above) or indeed respond at all. If the dealers can't communicate with Skoda...what chance do customers have. I see other iV software issues in other threads...can see a class action coming round the corner.
  21. A long shot (and I can't see anything in the manual) but the fuel flap has always had a secondary release in the boot, behind the storage cubby holes. Have you lifted the bonnet in case there's one hidden in there, behind the charger unit? Mine does need a good hard push to release it (on the dimple).
  22. So, update and so many thanks for the support. First is that Meadens are pursuing a one year warranty extension. Skoda Customer Services couldn't help and now its gone to the above mentioned @numskullEmmaline Bruce at Head Office. I also raised @varooom 's TPI note, and am told its not applicable as my fault apparently is with the interface with the dash...what they call an SBK fault. Not withstanding it means seat memory is down, door mirror is now playing up, main infotainment unit randomly goes into night mode in bright daylight (and dash), and (logically if that's the cause) the dash fails to show sat nav and defaults to blank. But, a new fix is now at the garage, and it'll go in again next week. Maybe this time? Again, thanks.
  23. It was new, and reputedly amongst the first iV's sold in the UK. Not sure if that's part of the issue...but even if it was new tech, two and a half years is too long for Skoda and Meadens to sort it.
  24. Not long after we bought our Superb iV L&K, the dash/sat nav/infotainment started playing up. Probably there from the start, but we reported it within a couple of months, and waited for an update which our garage (Meadens who we bought it from) said would solve it. Numerous visits later, two and a half years on, it still has repeated faults, cuts out, blank dash with no sat navigation, and so on. Photos and video of these regularly shared with Meadens. Functions have failed such as memory on seats. Car's been off the road half a dozen times, for days at a time. Last week, when in for an oil change, the garage tried yet again...my car wouldn't accept either of two software updates and they've yet again contacted the Skoda mothership. I am worried as the warranty has only three months left, then I fear they'll cast me adrift. It feels the can is being kicked down the road until then. I've asked for Meadens to get the warranty extended for a year at the least, to protect me. They say they'll try but sound pessimistic. And in the survey I gave them two stars...I can't see how I can give more given the issues and years of problems. The service manager rang me to change the review. I like the garage, and him, and have sympathy (but no patience any more!) but what else can I do to make my unhappiness plain. Anyone else got this...any ideas? What's the legal position? TIA.
  25. If you use a crate, open the flap in the back seat and use the central vent for rear passengers?
