  1. Any thoughts on this??
  2. Well I certainly didn't expect the weather to knock out electric cars in such a fashion, however, do we know if the ICE pumps have been similarly affected or not? It is another reason against making EV mandatory for new cars in 2035. I think we should leave things as they are for a bit longer to allow more time to fully explore any problems with electric that we might be overlooking in our haste to achieve zero emissions. We had thought that diesel was to be our saviour, only to discover that would have made things worse.
  3. They are one of my favourite birds, them and owls. Perhaps slightly more biased to the Robins because they are the tamest of our wild birds and are the most comfortable with our close presence to them. We have one in our garden who will get really close to us.
  4. That should help the move to electric, they do seem to be basic no nonsense cars that offer value for money.
  5. Well this is getting interesting @J.R.as there was nobody gloating about their ICE warming up quicker than an EV, I mistook the post made by @@Lee to be gloating that his car was warming up quicker, which was bogus as he was trying to say that it was getting out of hand and that we should knock it on the head.😉, I think?
  6. That won't stop them, watch this space, the real question is, is there anywhere where a GPS system will not work? As long as they have GPS then can fit a GPS tracker to a car and it can then report back where you have been once it is back within a mobile phone signal area again. There are insurance policies that rely on being able to know your precise location at all times. I know this because I have had no option but to use such a system myself for the last 3 years, as policy without such a device was just cost prohibitive, just because my car received damage while being transported on conveyor system through an American style car wash and I reported it to my insurer at the time, even though I never made any claim, my premium became stupidly high at the next renewal. Doing research with the MIB revealed that as being the reason. Dashcam footage can be run through a special program that can actively display your location at every point of your journey and that position, date, time and speed accurately shown on digital maps.
  7. The point is that the authorities have been denying that they have been preparing for this. Now why would they deny it, I wonder.
  8. OK, on the 2nd of December last year information about the ULEZ scheme and others around the country being used as a smoke screen to install cameras for other purposes such as a pay per mile scheme with different tariffs being applied according to the number of people in the car, time of the day and what type of roads you use. Now I don't think that many had any belief in it, well it seems that it is real and that it is becoming a step close to becoming a reality and urge readers to watch these videos first and then examine the links provided to see the evidence for your self. I understand that many people have already formed their own opinions that this person is only a click baiter just after the money, and hopefully those that do actually watch these two videos and follow up with the supporting evidence, might now agree with me about the need to keep an open mind about things and start to ponder are we all just following the pied piper like mindless rats into a trap that could be prevented if we examine things more? 9. Quite right and here is a London Transport RT bus undergoing the tilt test with nothing but ropes to act as a safety system if it fails to pass the required standard of 28 degrees tilt, and the ropes can be seen to perfectly slack and the upper deck is fully loaded with sand bags to simulate passengers on the top deck only and then the test inspector actually boards the bus and goes on the top deck and walks along it while it is tilted, in perfect safety. I only used that particular photo as it was one that showed a modern bus, the videos all seem to show old LT buses and they are of poor quality. 10. This Smart #1 looks to be a quite good little EV car but a tad pricey at £36k but it does come with some very nice touches though to offset the price.
  11. @RootedI see that your van was different from mine, which was also in the same colour white, although I did end up painting it by hand using proper old school coach paint with which all brush strokes just disappear if you apply the paint correctly, something I had plenty of experience of seeing as when I was doing my apprenticeship, in order to bolster my wages to close the gap between my wages and that of my friends who weren't doing an apprenticeship, I did overtime painting wheels and wings on buses to keep them looking fresh.
  12. Ok, now I understand, I thought you was making a unfounded comment against a Tesla that was all.
  13. @RootedI was asking because I used to have a Ford Transit van and the roof in the back was just bare metal and on a cold day that would condense and drip everywhere, except the section above the seats which had a lining over them.
  14. So maybe the above post made by you this morning might jog your memory??
  15. Oh, so the car is pretty new to you, 1st Telsa or what and how old? I've somehow or other formed an opinion that you have had this car for some time.
  16. Ok, fair enough but you have taken it the wrong way. I was just interested in learning what your ICE car is that your comparing it to an EV, after all @wyx087has declared what his car is.
  17. Oh yes, of course, I'd forgotten that they have a glass roof, doesn't cause problems with condensation dripping from it on cold mornings? Don't we all wish we lived in a £2m house, it was just a reflection of the price disparity between your neck of the woods and mine, which is not strictly correct as there are some houses that can accommodate 2 cars around the £850,000 mark.
  18. Now that I'm home and I'm looking at your post on the proper computer and not on the phone, I notice that the roof of your Telsa does not seem to be as well insulated as it could be as the ise has started to thaw out and, whereas you're wife's car roof is still icy. I think you are lucky to have a drive long enough to house 2 cars on it, houses like that round this neck of the woods are around the £2m price bracket.
  19. That nicely shows how well insulated your mini is and as it also a relatively small cabin to say my car, it will need less energy to keep warm. 👍
  20. Haha, trust me when I say this but it is 100% true, I don't search for anything, it just appears out the ether. I belong to many groups etc and so there is always plenty of automotive news appearing in my inbox. I also have zero agenda against EVs other than I think it is wrong to mandate that in 2035 all new cars must be electric when we still actually have so much to learn about their true impact on the planet. I have no problem with people electing to opt for one and I welcome people's freedom of choice, it is a free world is it not?
  21. On my drive this morning to tend to my MIL I noticed the same thing on all the Telsas I saw. The cabins were perfectly clear while the bonnets were all iced up. My own car meanwhile after driving 19 miles had a clear bonnet, even though it has fully lagged bonnet, and yet the roof was still fully iced up.
  22. Arh ha, good grief, why is it so hard for you to admit that it was a simple typo? I even said it for you with winking emjo and a smiley. All you needed to say was "correct it was a typo" 👍
  23. Yes, there have been many 20mph zones introduced in London and many of these started to be introduced about 2004 to 2006 and actually made getting about London seeing clients very difficult indeed. Public transport would have been the best solution some of the time, but it just not lend itself to carrying large demonstration cases, sample cases and supporting publicity in order to do product demos and also service visits to many of the universities and hospitals etc. I did try that once, and I lost count of the number of times I was challenged by security staff and had to physically open the cases etc to show what it was I trying to take onto the tubes with me. Even a couple of times I was stopped by police foot patrols. Honestly, the 20mph zones were a real nightmare for people who have to travel around these places, it really does slow you down and impacts on the number of client visits a day that is possible.
  24. @lol-lolSo the way that you're avoiding the question suggests that you don't want to answer it, why I don't know when I suspect that it was just a typo or was written on a mobile phone and the predictive text worm popped its head up and inserted what it thought you actually meant to say
  25. @cheezemonkhaiHmm, well mine kept me nice and warm idling today and the outside temp was minus 5C. I think I'd agree with you if the engine had been started from cold and left to idle, but after having been driven so it was at normal operating temp, then the energy required to maintain the temperature is far lower than what is required to bring it from minus 5 upto 90C.
