the truth about electric cars
It really is beginning to look open warfare on cars regardless of their choice of fuel, I already posted in another thread about London parking charges skyrocketing for EV vehicles, so although they get away with the emission charges, they are going for EV's another way, by charging more for parking permits etc, in some cases by 1800% increase based upon their weight and sheer bulk. Today I came across this video which claims that despite far greater and stricter emission regulations, the level of emissions over the last 12 years, the EU reports that big heavy luxury and the huge rise in the number SUV's, including EV ones are the reason for the levels of pollution not reducing, even though engines for the average family cars becoming way more efficient, is what have said that smaller engined cars actually pollute far less the cars of 12 years ago. So as wealth seems to be massing in the more affluent members of the human race, they are buying far more of the big luxury barges with the 3 litre engines and higher along with the high performance cars, polluting more, while the rest of the population are being squeezed more and in some cases downsizing or switching to EV to escape the ever-increasing LEZ zones being set up across the country and the world. So it seems then after all, that EV's are not as clean as we are being told they, well would have guessed that? Paris has voted to triple parking charges for EV SUV's parking in the city, so a 6-hour parking session will now be costing £192 (225 Euros) for EV SUV's and for normal EV's £64 (75 Euros) for 6 hours parking. Parking sensors, blind spot detection and Park Pilot stopped working after dealer fitted new sensor mounting clips.
I'll try and get one done tomorrow, but I doubt there will be a code as it is again working OK, so any code that was there, would have been deleted today when they did the software configuration and coding.

Parking sensors, blind spot detection and Park Pilot stopped working after dealer fitted new sensor mounting clips.
Hmm, well the place I took it to are the official service agents for Škoda in my part of the country and have been looking after my cars for the last 15 years so they should know what they're doing, I hope. I didn't do a scan myself as TBH I didn't have a clue what I'd be looking for and relied on them to do so. I did however do a scan just after I brought the car, back in June last year, and it did have a few codes, mostly relating to the power seats having lost their basic calibration, this was sorted out with a software update as there was a recall for the car for this problem before I purchased it. I assume that the previous owner never bothered with the recall, or was not aware of it. I just trawled my way through that last scan log, and I was able to locate the module using the part number you gave me and I post it here and as you can see it checked out with no codes found. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Address 10: Park/Steer Assist (J791) Labels:| 5Q0-919-298.clb Part No SW: 5QA 919 298 HW: 5Q0 919 298 C Component: PLA 3.0 12KH08 0161 Serial number: 000305183616266 Dataset Number: 3V0039t____ 0011 Coding: 0371067851 Shop #: WSC 33361 790 00156 ASAM Dataset: EV_EPHVA2CAU3700000 009017 ROD: EV_EPHVA2CAU3700000_009_VW37.rod VCID: 0D44A3C50DD20BF274D-8058 No fault code found. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is the job record for today from them, so I can only assume that they must have accidentally done something when they scanned it last time around?

Parking sensors, blind spot detection and Park Pilot stopped working after dealer fitted new sensor mounting clips.
My parking sensors had been playing up, after one of them on the N/S front got pushed backwards slightly, it would give false warnings. The dealer said the mounting clips were broken and ordered up a complete new set and then fitted them about 3 weeks ago. All was working when I picked the car up, drove home, all of about 2 miles, and parked up. Later that day I went to pop into the city and error message telling me that park pilot etc was not available, WTF? It was fine when I had parked? Long story short, the dealer could see my car again until today, and they claim to have fixed the car, claiming that it was a module that was not coded to my car?? I have had this car sine last June, and it was all working OK until they fitted new clips on the front sensors. They are claiming that after the coded the module to the car, everything worked OK, the module in question is U101300, does anyone know what this module is at all? I did a quick Google search and all I can find is a video claiming that is the ABS module, but that is related to the braking system?? The video was in a foreign language, so I was able to understand what the person was saying.

the truth about electric cars
Sun 04/02/2024 17:48 Hi Graham, 2024 has gone so quickly so far that I’ve barely had time to draw breath – last thing I remember I was tucking into turkey, and here we are staring down the barrel of Valentine’s Day, Easter and the spring and summer season that looms large. It’s gone so fast in fact that a notable piece of automobile-related news completely passed me by, so when I happened upon it this week, I felt like I had to share it. Turns out that the electric vehicle revolution has reached a new landmark stage this year – we now have electric ambulances. Purely in the city of London, these vehicles are designed to be lightweight, and have a powered trolley bed system, scanning system and a powered carry chair for patient transport. I’m assuming all ambulances are ULEZ-exempt anyway, but this one definitely will be! The big question on everyone’s lips will be the battery life, given just how critical these vehicles are when it comes to saving lives, but apparently they last for a full 12-hour shift, which should – in theory – be plenty. Click here to get all the details, and when you have, I’d love your thoughts – good idea, bad idea? Step too far? Will the queues at the hospital affect how long they’re able to operate for? Let me know what you think, Grant

the truth about electric cars
Dave Takes it On has already attempted to address this problem and one of his ideas is to make such houses that have no drive etc, flats etc, have something as simple as a weatherproof 13A 3 pin socket and then people can plug in and charge with an AC charger. The problem with those is the massive shock risks with worn / damaged cables, long leads cannot carry much current without heating up, and also of course the painfully slow charging times, even overnight will not be enough to recharge the battery in many cases. He also advocates cable gullies to be installed at every house, even if you cannot park outside your house, you could maybe park outside a neighbour's and use their gully and power and pay them for the power??? WTF, people would be stealing your power and not driving up your power bill, even with lockable sockets, they will find a way to defeat them and plug in even while you're out. The only real long term solution is to find a way of getting the charge times down to a similar time as it takes to top up ICE vehicles and put the chargers at filling stations.

Mmmmmondeo noo, the grill is too upright for that, its a XJ8- the truth about electric cars
That was some 3 years ago, but I'm talking about cars 30 years or older. That Aston DB4 in the video I posted is at least 60 years old. James Bond used the DB5 in the film Goldfinger, and that car came out in 1964.- the truth about electric cars
@wyx087No, it is not only Islington, Westminster, Wandsworth and many others, and what is even more bizarre is that there are many more just as heavy or even heavier ICE, but they are not affected by these new rules.- the truth about electric cars
It looks to me as if the plan is to get people out of cars all together and onto PT, bikes or walking. There are large ICE vehicles around which are very heavy and also have large fuel tanks but parking charges for them are not currently under review. Current figures show there are 1M electric vehicles in the UK v 35M ICE. So that kind of suggests that there is yet another reason behind this move.- the truth about electric cars
Has anyone else heard about the new parking charges being introduced in London for electric vehicles? Apparently they are going to be charged more than their equivalent ICE vehicle? Guess what they are basing it on, the battery size and also looking at the emissions of them, WTF is going on. Talk about mixed messages, one minute they are trying to push people down the electric route, next they are trying to stick their hands again into our pockets and say that now that people are making the switch and there are more electric vehicles on the streets, they now want to charge you inflated charges for parking, of upto 1800% increase just because you have an EV. All I have on this at the moment is this, which is normally in my experience a pretty reliable source, hopefully further information will come to light soon.- the truth about electric cars
Arh yes, but that Spitfire I photographed is rather special and I also know the owner of it and I have personally many times helped to push it in and out of its hangar, along with his other Spitfire and P51, all of which are as authentic as you could to the original planes as flown in the war, even down to same skins with bullet damage.- the truth about electric cars

It's all part of history, I didn't experience WW2 but I'm still interested in it, so is my son with his love of warbirds and he's only 40 😂- the truth about electric cars
Don't talk like that, are you older than I am then, I'm 75 this year? We could both be here for our 100th birthday, you never know. Besides I like to think that we would be leaving a legacy for our children and grandchildren just as our forefathers did for us👍- the truth about electric cars
Really it is, it's just another perspective and no its not always bad things, but another view point on the current and future situations and was/is a genuine question about would we be able to continue what we enjoy now in the future. You also clearly enjoy the old classic car scene just as much as I do.- the truth about electric cars
I don't know, am I not explaining this properly or what 🤔- the truth about electric cars
No, you're misunderstanding what I'm saying, welding is an obvious thing that can be transferred between all kinds of vehicles, what I'm talking about is almost a ground up restoration to concourse standard as will be the fate of that Aston Martin DB4. There will always be classics, or at least I hope, in museums whereby the manufacturers donate vehicles off the production lines, but those are not driving examples that people can own, and use for example at shows etc.- the truth about electric cars
No, I understand that something might well be able to be made to order, but in order to know if its worthwhile doing so, you might like to find out about the rest of the car, body etc, do the electrics and the power unit work. Like people do with ICE cars, they see if the engines are seized etc, and often they can get them started just like in the video I linked to, as that would be a good place to start in deciding a cars possible future. In real terms ICE electrics have not changed all that much from the point of view of ignition coils, plugs, leads, points, starter motors etc on legacy cars, it is always possible to rig up something like a gravity feed tank to get fuel to the carburettor etc. How will we do this with electric cars is the question, they are way more complicated.- Dashcam Switched Power
- Dashcam Switched Power
Sorry to be a pain but are you positive about the Dashcam being a Garmin 55? Does it have any other name, like Garmin cam 55 for instance. I have searched around and all I can find is a Garmin Drive 55 which is a sat nav, and a Garmin Forerunner 55 which a sports watch? Hold everything, I have found it, it is called a Garmin Dash Cam 55 - Photography Thread
