@Evolution13 Agreed about the vlogger, apart from the fact he was seeing this happening years ago in his part of the country, the west of England, at the time, many here were rubbishing vloggers. Yes, much of what people here say is rubbish. There is not a single one of us who could not learn something new every day by opening our minds. I also understand there are average speed cameras on roads that carry speed limits from 20 to 70 mph, many of which do not have a history of excessive speeds or accidents. There are many stretches of the A12 road which have had them installed recently. I agree with the mobile phone signal aspect, and yet that has not stopped remote chargers being installed in some poor signal locations, which you have documented in some of your logs, and yet some others have claimed that they never experience such issues. There are some locations where you can get 4G or even 5G phone signal but still have major issues getting any internet.

ANPR cameras are beginning to appear in all sorts of locations around here as are average speed cameras, even on roads where normally you would struggle to even do 50 mph on country roads. These cameras were even mentioned by YouTubes Geof Buys Cars on his channel a couple of years ago I recall. I expect that many never saw it because he is branded as an EV hater, incorrectly I add, he is pro choice but some people cannot stand anyone not being in total love with EVs.

@Evolution13 correct, I fully expect VED will be scrapped then the problem of untaxed vehicles will be resolved.

I'm not going to explain it further; you just need to think outside the box a bit. It might well be a load of *******s, and then again it might not. I merely offered another viewpoint; the technology is there, and it is now well proven that ANPR can identify the car. All that is now required is to network the ANPR data, and the government agency has all the info it needs to implement PPM. Join up the dots and see what you make of it. Revenue raised by LEZ, stays with the local authorities and should be used to improve local transport. Revenue from speeding fines goes directly to the government's HM Treasury Consolidated Fund.

And, I never said it was did I? The cameras can be networked together and perform a dual role. Local authorities use ANPR to bill you for driving if your car is not compliant with emissions. The government need your registration details, which can again be extracted from speed cameras, average speed cameras and LEZ cameras, as they all use ANPR. It really is not hard to think these points through; and look at the possibilities. As always, all I'm doing is thinking about things and not just accepting everything we are told as 100% factual. That way I'm not caught out if it happens, and as always, it will be proven one way or the other in due course who was right and who was wrong.

There could well be a simple explanation regarding this, and again, I'm not saying it is, but there are such things as creative accountancy, which is nothing new at all. Or maybe, just maybe, the low-emission zones were always planned as part of something else altogether, and possibly TFL gave the game away when they were advertising for staff to run the LEZ for, I believe, Coventry. That is nowhere near or has anything to do with London, yet they are involved, and the job description mentioned road pricing was the goal. So with that in mind, are all of these LEZs with their network of roadside cameras the preparation for the PPM scheme by networking these cameras and new ones being installed, like the massive growth of the Average Speed Camera installations, even on normal 2-lane roads such as the A414 between Chelmsford and Harlow, which is already operational now? After all, the government knew that with EVs they were going to be missing out on the income from fuel duty, so was this the back-door entry into PPM? If they announced that it was their intention to introduce PPM, it might have derailed their electrification plans. It has to be considered that LEZs could effectively have been planned as Trojan horses.

@Evolution13 I know, I'm not posting anything outside the UK. I was just saying that it is just as hot or even hotter in the places you mentioned, so if it happens there... but there are no reports to report on, maybe for the reasons already mentioned? There is no point in posting EV fires anyway, as the same old debate about ICE cars catching fire more often will just flare up again (see what I did there, pun intended 😁). Until we actually get updated and correct facts on the numbers, there is nothing to discuss.

BYD gave had their vessels fir a while so that is old news. It currently makes zero difference what ever means they deploy to stop battery fires on a ship carrying electric cars as none of those you just listed will either put a battery fire out or contain it given the way they have to lash the cars down and there are no fire breaks on board.

But these batteries are a tiny fraction of the capacity of those fitted to EVs so the actual risk is also a tiny fraction, so are you advocating that same rules should also apply to them?

It seems that lithium-ion batteries could all have been designed in such a way that aggravates possible thermal runaway situations. According to a new scientific research document that Barrie Crampton has knowledge of, which shows that encasing them in sealed compartments is the worst thing that can happen to them. It is not open flames or glowing red-hot metal that cause adjacent cells to enter a runaway, but super-hot gases; it also shows that liquid immersion also increases the temperature and intensity of the resultant fire by a factor of 21 times. The report suggests that if heat, etc. is allowed to escape to the open air, then thermal runaways could be reduced. I do wish that he would provide links to this study, not just him but other YouTubers as well. If this report is correct, then it is a step in the right direction.

No, this is not scaremongering...this is a real and present danger which I have already flagged up and shows how politicians, both local and national, should NOT get involved in things that they have zero knowledge of, including balcony solar. There are NO early warnings with electricity; once a real-life danger situation has occurred, it is only discovered by people/animals coming into contact with it, which may be the last thing that they do ⚠️. We all accept that it is dangerous to install a socket next to a sink or in a bathroom, and yet some people are prepared to risk lifes by onstreet charging from their own home electric supply. What they do not understand is the dangers of different circuits being connected to different earthing bonds etc. There is a very good reason why all extraneous metalwork in a building has to be bonded together, and this is it.

@lol-lol There has been for decades now, makers like Ford taking cars made by others and badging them. This is nothing new; it is not an EV thing. In many cases the cars are indeed a joint venture between 2 or more makers, where each will make various parts and then 1 will be nominated to do the final assembly. As for the owner taking their car to a firm like Cleevely EV, it is something that only a handful of car enthusiasts would think about, as most owners will stick with the brand's dealer network, especially while it is under warranty. Ford Capri is really a VW ID4 under the skin; hell, loads of people are unaware that Skoda, VW, Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Seat, Cupra, Lamborghini, MAN, etc. are even in the same group and share many common parts and many cars beneath the skin have the same platform, running gear etc. Anyone following Mat Armstrong on his YouTube channel should be aware of how other brands take parts from others, stick their logos on them and sell them at massive markups, many times the original price.

@skomaz Do I take it then that your house was an older type of house? Central heating was becoming pretty common in new houses in the 1970s-1980s. I remember that my parents had it installed sometime in the 80s. We moved into the house in the 50s, lighting it with the courtesy of gas mantle lamps mounted on the walls and a single electric socket in the kitchen.
