Drivegreen/Greenscore question
That is what I thought, but now I'm not sure. I'm going to do 2 sessions of the same route, 1 in normal mode and the other in eco and post the results later.

Drivegreen/Greenscore question
As far as I can see, it makes zero difference what ever driving mode you are in, sport/eco/comfort/normal etc, the greenscore, only seems to take into account is the speed of the car, the throttle inputs, the amount of time spent stationary in traffic so it would seem that it is attempting to show just how effectively the car is being driven to allow the fuel to be consumed in the most efficiently way as far as combustion/pollution is concerned rather than the actual MPG figures.

The terrible state of the UK roads
Just watched this video of emergency ambulance getting a police escort to transport a child to the hospital in the Netherlands. The thing that struck me is just how great the roads there are, I never saw a single pothole. 55,236 views Jun 8, 2024 Welcome. Today we are back in the Netherlands, where we are about to join the police officers from Team Traffic. They are requested to assist an ambulance driving from the small town of Ter Aar to the Leiden University Medical Center. The paramedics are in need of an emergency escort to transport a young child to the hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest. This emergency ride will turn out to be one the worst so far, so keep watching. If you’re fascinated by sirens, flashing lights, and the critical work of first responders, you’re in the right place. Our channel provides a unique perspective—literally—from the driver’s seat of police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks. We collect various videos from all over the world and add insightful context and commentary. Source: Verkeerspolitie Den Haag

Drivegreen/Greenscore question
I actually wonder if this being read correctly and instead of it being an indication of how economical we are driving, but is attempting to illustrate just how "eco friendly" our driving is for the planet in terms of emissions?

the truth about electric cars
Why develop it if you can buy it already to go and it seems a good system.

Car Park Fires, Transporters / Ships, any fires, any EV,s involved or not thread, were they the cause just there and so made fighting the fire harder.
Sorry to bring this up again, but did anyone clock the horrific fire in a Lithium-ion battery factory in South Korea, CCTV shows in just seconds how the factory was engulfed in the toxic fumes which claimed 22 lives of the workers inside the factory which is precisely the reason why fire brigades all over the world are so concerned about electric cars. Footage shows moment deadly South Korea factory fire breaks out - BBC News South Korea: Exploding lithium batteries spark deadly factory fire - BBC News This is also yet another fire at a battery recycling plant, the second fire at this site in 2 years. Almost 1,500 miles on a single tankfull of diesel.
Just watched this amazing video of a VW Passat being driven from Morocco to London over 2 days on an attempt to break the world record for distance on a single tank of fuel. The only preparation that appears to have been apart from servicing it prior to the trip is the fitting of a set of Michelin E Primacy tyres, not even taping over the shut lines etc.

What have you done to your Superb III today?
@Penpusherstrange how there are no signs or road markings like yellow lines?

the truth about electric cars
@wyx087, yes I know @domhnallhas a Skoda Enyaq now, but his bio states he did have a Tesla and hence why I said that he HAD the best car and not have. I said HAD because he did not state if he was referring to Tesla or not. But this not the issue here as he still seems to think that they were trying to top up their cars at these services, which so clearly is not the case.

the truth about electric cars
You had the best car for charging (Tesla) and the best software for information on routing from A to B including charge stops, it calculates it all for you, not all cars are equal in that respect.

the truth about electric cars
You are still missing the entire point of that video. At no point in that were they looking to charge at any of the services, they were merely a suitable place to stop and swap drivers for the next leg of the "drive it until it stops" test that they were doing in order to discover just how they stacked against the maker's claims. If you watched that video and was paying attention all of that was made clear at the start and yes, you are right, you can see the availability of chargers up ahead, if you were wanting to charge. The drivers did that as they all pulled off the main roads when they knew that they would run out before the next charger on the route. If you was on a long trip or up against a deadline for an appointment/meeting, nobody in their right mind is going to come off and away from the fastest and most direct route to hunt for fuel of any kind, be it electric or fossil fuel when they know that the next services are only a few miles away.

the truth about electric cars
Both of these examples are prime examples of where your parents or your GFs daughter couldn't own their own BEV's and charge at home to make it a viable option. There has to be some way of levelling the field between those that have the ability to home charge and those can't, otherwise once again the gap widens even more between those that have and those who have not. Bearing in mind that if Labour win the GE, that they have already declared that they will be banning the sale of new ICE cars in 2030 again, just 5.5 years away. Yes it is easy to say, just don't get a BEV and continue with old second-hand ICE cars, but that again causes problems because they not want to have an old car but equally are unable for a multitude of reasons are not in a position to move to be able property where home charging is possible, again discrimination.

the truth about electric cars
I thought that CD figure was the value of resistance the car has to cutting through air and therefore takes into account the entire car, including the entire frontal area, after all it is measured, is it not in a wind tunnel with the entire car and not just a section of the car?

the truth about electric cars
Yes, those small cars are really only ideal for a couple with very young children if you are average height or less. This new MG3 hybrid looks a reasonable car for those kind of people as well, look to be extremely dark inside especially in the back which I hate, I like a light airy car hence I have light coloured seats and headlining in my car, but the interesting thing with the MG is its price.

the truth about electric cars
And pretty comfortable, given its short wheelbase, they ride bumps pretty well, I sometimes get one as a courtesy car while mine is being serviced.. Problem being that when I'm driving, I need the seat all the way back till it touches the back seat, so the car becomes a 3 seater at best

With the small VW EVs being (apparantly) the most efficient EV cars you can buy today, could it be that we need lighter cars, smaller battery packs and a combination of smaller more fuel efficient, cleaner ICE engines working with an electric motor to effectively reduce emissions overall?- the truth about electric cars
@Stonekeeper I can see nothing wrong in those test reports, anything that was needing urgent attention was dealt with, the other advisories are not bad enough to warrant attention straight away and even at the next test, they may not be bad enough to need attention, or may not even get mentioned again as another tester might deem them as OK. I have experienced this myself, on my last car it was highlighted as having one of the front coil springs excessively corroded. My dealer looked at it and said it was a little bit of surface rust and did not need fixing. It was never mentioned on the next 2 subsequent tests.- the truth about electric cars
Despite all the negative criticism of VW cars, it would appear that are making the most economical and efficient EV car?- the truth about electric cars
Not heard of them before, I'll take a peek later. Good luck in the footy tpnight.- the truth about electric cars
Nah, don't have iPhone...- the truth about electric cars
Na, not on smartphone, you normally have swipe the touch sensor on the screen in a certain direction to answer it and even worse to make a call. On the old button phones you could set up 1 button calling for your 10 most common calls. On the 2 way radios they use on these channels, you just have a long large button/lever on the side that you squeeze when you talk and release to listen, thats it.- the truth about electric cars
@Ootohere I suppose the get out clause could be that the radios being used have to be a single channel, so there is no need to interact with the radio to the same degree as there is with a phone?- the truth about electric cars
Yes, in fact all the car shows, like Top Gear, Fifth Gear, The Grand Tour etc all use handheld 2 way radios... - the truth about electric cars
