  1. Well thats odd, the video is clearly using clickbait to get people to watch it, the headline 1,101.2 miles on a single charge, and it does not reference that in the video either, what it does state however is that it has a nominal range of just 350 miles?
  2. Much the same place as you do but tend to avoid the more obvious choices who have a dedicated narrative to push such as the fully charged mob etc in order to continue being funded.

I'm sure I saw a video a few weeks ago that claimed that while the idea was a good one it did really hinge on all the makers agreeing on a standard battery and that carmakers were not likely to do that as their cars all use different batteries already and that would make all their cars sold to date almost obsolete and worthless. I did say that when they started talking about going full electric, that it would truly be an advantage if all cars used the same battery packs and that service stations could also cater for the fast and efficient battery swaps so that they could be used in much the same fashion as ICE cars. The problem then being the service station's ability to ensure a plentiful stock of charged batteries and also the ability of charging the replaced ones quickly enough to assist in making sure that they don't run out of stock. That also preposes that there is sufficient grid supply for that to happen, which we already know is not the case in England, and in some parts of Scotland I suspect the same is true. But back to the idea of that has been tried and failed, I'm not sure of where that was, but I'll try and find the video again if I have time. On the topic of standardising on the same battery type and dimensions etc, I remember whilst I was working for Crabtree Electrical that there was group of makers who were looking to standardise on certain products so that they could make things like MCB's all the same so that they would fit each others consumer units etc and that was all ended up going nowhere as they could agree on a suitable format, so expect the carmakers to have exactly same issues and outcome.

Yes it is a funny old world for sure 😁 and the future will be exciting times but we were all supposed to be buzzing around in flying cars like those featured in the TV program, the Jetsons, what went wrong there. There has been many attempts at making flying cars an affordable and everyday thing and all have failed so far, like the everlasting lightbulb. Second-hand car dealers are reported to be avoiding used EVs like the plague because they could well turn out to be either a used car bargain or a financial disaster with many going through the auction houses with approx 24,000 miles on the clock and the depreciation on them working out at £2 a mile, a car that cost £60,000 new, after 24,000 miles is selling for around £12,000, whereas they are reporting that ICE car prices are actually on the increase.

Hmm, great in theory but that has already been tried for cars and if I'm not mistaken has proved to be a total failure and the company that was doing that as a trail has gone bust I seem to recall. It also requires all batteries to be the same, so that no matter what vehicle you drive, you could drive into a swapping station, and provided there is a fully charged battery available, drive in and have it automatically swapped in about 5 minutes, roughly the same time it takes to fully fill a ICE tank.
  6. Err, no contradiction at all, it exists only in your head. EVs are ideal for those who drive either in the cities or short trips and can return home to charge, in which case, providing electric does not take a massive increase in price, they make perfect sense. The fall from grace bit is eminating from the time when people will be told once again, that EVs were not the future for the masses after all, just like the diesel was once claimed to be the fuel if the future. I thought that I made that clear in what I said, seems that you missed that point entirely.
  7. Is it just me that has noticed that since sales of EVs are beginning to fade out, that those with them have been doubling down on their virtues and why we should be driving them. Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti EV at all, I believe they have a role to play and they should available for those who want them, a free choice. What I do believe is that we should be banning all large high performance engines and limiting the sizes available for passenger cars, it is impossible to use their power and speed anyway I also expect that in a few years time, we will be told that EVs are not the future, just as we are being told diesels are wrong and bad for the environment, even worse than petrol. The future is going to be very interesting time for those fortunate enough to be around to see the fall from grace of EVs.
  8. Now that makes more sense apart from not driving ice with just the driver. No EV and no suitable or convenient public transport is available.
  9. Clearly my video demonstration of huge black diesel fumes etc clearly moving through the crowds, which was so thick it was impossible to see through it. And also that planes don't emit that kind of fumes and also their fumes are at a height far above the people and is dispersed by winds over a far greater area and there at a far weaker concentration by the time any reaches ground level has been totally ignored and my comments have been taken completely out of context🙄 Jeez why not ignore the obvious facts then.
  10. Jet engines and turbocharged engines all work and rely on having increased amounts of air being forced into them. In a automotive engine, the high pressure air is forced into the cylinder where it is mixed with the fuel before being ignited and the increased amount of oxygen present gives a far greater energy from the ignition and combustion of the fuel. Much the same in a jet engine and both engines use the exhaust gases to drive the impeller faster and thus compressing more air and forcing it into the engines combustion chambers.

All true, but adding a turbo changes the results as fuel burns more efficiently, so a jet engine has the biggest amount of high pressure air forced into the combustion chamber, and once flying, especially at high altitude where the air is thinner, what happens then. Completely different to a normal engine at ground level surely?

Hmm, this sounds to be highly unplausible to me, it would be dangerous to allow balloons into airspace used by planes and not only that but balloons are not that controllable to be able to accurately target the precise location of a contrail and cut amount of it and also the same amount of clean air, have you got your calendar dates wrong, it's not April 1st.
  13. Just how do the measure the levels of pollution coming from a jet engine, I doubt that they can shove a probe into the exhaust of the engine, the heat and pure thrust I suspect would destroy it in the blink of an eye?
  14. Hmm, the first video is now old and has been posted before, the second one however does show a few pitfalls and they have plenty it seems.
  15. This is a rather interesting video of a Tesla thats done 430,000 miles as a taxi, and it still has a battery health of 72% but this expert on EV cars reckons that even through Tesla claims that there is servicing required, he says otherwise nd shows why.
  16. It was, until someone woke up and discovered that they cannot actually afford to keep it going any longer. I mean every EV car that is sold, they are losing so much revenue, zero VED, no fuel tax other than VAT, even the congestion zones are going to be charging EV's and removing free parking perks.

I have to disagree with the Air Show comment really, all the pollution is being dispersed at a high level, not blowing all over the spectators, nor anywhere near as much black smoke even on the older B52 bombers which are renowned for being dirty engines. Not only that but I'm willing to say that are simply thousands of BEV drivers who claim that are driving them to save the planet and yet are perfectly happy to go on overseas trips for holidays, either by ship or planes, so that rather negates their claims IMO. But events like those truck events in the good ole USA and these frankly stupid tractor pulls are just putting the participants and spectators at an enormous risk to the health when you see the huge amounts of dense hydrocarbons being emitted and wafting in their faces at close range. It makes a complete mockery of all the so-called clean air zones in many cities and towns that we either cannot drive our older cars in or we have to pay for the privilege. It kind of points to the claims of premature deaths being blamed on pollution being a load of smoke and mirrors. If you were to try and drive a vehicle emitting a fraction of that amount of smoke on the road, you would be lucky not to be stopped and issued a instantaneous prohibition order and a massive fine.
  18. How on earth is this still allowed to happen in the US, I wonder just how many diesel cars it would take to equal the filth that these are checking out.

  20. It just goes to show, that we can no longer believe what we can see with our eyes, unless you were there at the time. Anyone looking at your last edited photo would never know that the girder bridge, the rock or the white boat ever existed. All I did was to crop the original and then enlarge it slightly, no AI was involved or any pixels harmed.

That is part of the problem for most people, for every video like this there is an equally convincing video putting the opposite views and tacking the financial backers of them can reveal some dubious links to huge global companies with vested interests in all manner of things. There is a school of thought that claims that JSO is actually funded indirectly by big oil, after all, it is claimed that there is no such thing as bad publicity. The lines between truth and hype, just like those of politics, for the benefit of people and the globe and those of self-service and greed have become so blurred that it can be near to impossible to decide who is telling the actual truth. This is the reason why I said "One day, sometime into the future, the real truth will escape into the world about whether the whole net-zero thing was the truth or an elaborate con that has been years in the planning"

I went to RIAT 2024 at Fairford on Sunday and took quite a few photos, but sadly the weather was once again not playing ball, although it never rained, every time I went to take a nice photo, the sun seemed to nip behind a cloud and for a decent photo of a warplane, it needs to be in full sunlight. Grey planes against an overcast sky is not the best shot to take. However, here a few of the most memorable and impressive planes flying, not in full display mode as I was at the far right of the runway and the centre of the display axis was some 1,300 metres to my left, so only managed to get take off and landing shots mainly.

  25. True, but I still suspect that they have been classified as petrol cars as opposed to a BEV which has to be charged or it goes nowhere, a PHEV does not ever need to be plugged in if the owner/driver decides not to, they can just manage on pure petrol power alone.
