Really you would not expect such a well known maker of prestige cars to have anywhere that level of recalls, I'd have thought that it would have been in their best interest to have thoroughly tested and debugged and new model, especially costing that much, prior to launching the model.

Yes, apparently you are correct about the Vulcans, but once they were retired from operational duty it seems that the RAF kept 2 back for displays XH558 and XL426 and these 2 were painted in all over camouflage. XH558 was the one that was brought and restored to flying condition and was displayed and operated by Vulcan to the Skies Trust and XL426 is the one at Southend airport which I photographed, all the others were normal grey.

I'm quite so sure about that, it has been the subject of many colour schemes over the years while in service and of course at one time it was just pure white all over to help reflect the thermal radiation in the event it was ever called upon to deliver a nuclear bomb

Not strictly on topic but sort of loosely related, I went to Southend on Sea airport on Sunday evening as their resident Avro Vulcan was doing a fast taxi run in order to raise some revenue to keep this historic aircraft in reasonable condition. As I'm more interested in getting some decent photos of this beast in motion rather than just getting up close and in person with it, I went to the end of the runway where viewing was FOC. It was very clear from listening to some peoples comments coming from the sizable crowd gathered there just how uninformed and silly some people really are and the most ridiculous comment I heard was when the plane was being pushed backwards out of the hangar (engines off) someone uttered "I thought this plane was supposed to howl and roar, they must have fitted electric engines to it" 🙄 I posted a couple of pictures of it on the Photographic thread if anyone is interested.

It's almost as if they are trying to obliterate all references to what the EU actually did for the UK. Much the same as they have been trying to delete all online media about the lies they fed us about the benefits of leaving, remember the famous red bus and did we ever get that money paid to the NHS after we left, of course not, but many believed that we would and the rest is history.

I often wonder if the UK government and local councils had been more open and honest about how much of our infrastructure and facilities that we have was actually funded directly by the EU if today we would still be in the EU as there was so much cost savings that the UK benefited from big time from that were not made public that we are now paying for on our own whereas we only had to pay a percentage of the cost before "B".

Correct, I was driving Passats at the time and when it came time to chose the next company car, I went Superb because of that space, not just in the car, but the boot as well and still nothing quite like it on the market in the price bracket.

Down here they are pay to park and then ride free, they however have limited charging bays but I discounted them on the basis of them being expensive for parking on top of charging costs. We don't the freebies that Scotland seems to enjoy in abundance 😕

In the park and ride car parks, are they open to anybody requiring a charge, or only people using the park and ride in its entirety?

Yes, they do this twice a year and it draws quite a crowd, just wish they would do it earlier in the day rather than sunset, which they chose as this plane was operated by 617 squadron and they took off at sunset on the famous dambuster raids. Somewhere in my collection, I have an awesome photo I took of the Vulcan (not this one) during one of its last airshows before it was grounded, taken from on top of Beechy Head while it flew low below the cliffs.

Good, Scotland seems way ahead of England, or at least my city, where we have 1 large Sainsburys, zero charging points, 1 large Asda, zero charging points, 2 large Tesco's, 1 has 4 bays for charging at pod points, the other bays for 5 cars only, 2 Morrisons, 1 with zero bays, the other has 2 bays only, 1 Lidl store, zero bays, 3 Aldi stores, zero bays then we have 5 retail parks with zero charging bays, and hence my earlier comments about finding ways of incorporating charging at such places. We have many public car parks but only having 8 charging bays between them and 1 Tesla centre with 8 bays. So thats a total of 27 chargers for an entire city, we are certainly the poor relative it seems.

In the future it would more sense to find ways of incorporating these hubs with sites such as supermarket car parks etc, just look at the that huge chunk of land being used up, you could fit many filling stations into the space.

I have a 2016 model with the same issue, the dealer has checked it all through and it appears to be correct but the scan report shows no basic setting stored. They have gone through the resetting procedure without success. They have submitted a report to Skoda Technical Dept and they say it should be working but its not. Works perfectly OK manually.

The photo submission was mention in the PDF file about the Podpoint that @Stonekeeper posted and I think it was only for them to accept that it had been installed correctly so that they could activate the warranty on the product more than anything else.

Until now, I had never really given any thought to the home charger other than understanding that to get the best out of an EV, you needed to be able to charge while at home for economic reasons. Then it hit me that electric cars actually have their own dedicated built in chargers, which just require a suitable connection to the house AC electric system. So yes, I do agree with you that they are very expensive for what they are, a glorified weatherproof interface between the car and the house wiring. On the other hand when plugging in a lawn mower, they are generally going to be double insulated and normally not left plugged in overnight. Whereas a car would be and they are generally metallic so I'm guessing that these charge pods etc not only have another 30ma RCD but also other detections and disconnections systems just to be ultra safe as other third parties could come into contact with the car while on your property and hence why they are demanding photos of the internal connections as part of the registration process??

I've been driving since 66 and all I've ever used are what they call all season tyres. I've always thought of winter tyres as being the ones with studs in them for driving on impacted snow. I understand that in some countries it is compulsory to have a set of summer and winter tyres.

I don't really accept the premise that the market is only growing at 0.8%, I think is pure BS. How many people on this forum have a set of winter and summer tyres, how many people are buying a second car, may a fun day, a car for the wife, a city run about and another as long distance cruiser. Sons and daughters buying cars all the time so the tyre market must be growing, surely.

I think that is the way it might ultimately go in the future, I'm sure the technology already exists to do that. Does anybody know if this is currently possible? Thinking about it, it might to some extent remove some of the current objections from possible buyers who cite not be able to charge at home as a barrier to buying a BEV?
