  1. That 80mpg figure is really only achievable when doing city type of driving, take it on a motorway type of road, say the M4 from the junction of the M25 to the junction with the M5, approx 100miles, on a day when the traffic is flowing freely and you're able to do motorway speeds of 60-70mph and you will not be able to that 80mpg, that is only achievable under the right conditions.
  2. This only confirms what Nissan are saying, cannot MHEV cannot drive on pure electric only, the Arkana in the video can and does drive in pure electric mode purely because it is a full hybrid, not a mild hybrid and that is clearly stated in the video right at the start.
  3. The Qashqai MEHV according to Nissan is incapable of moving on battery power, the confirmation is right there in the link I provided, where it states in a page of FQA style questions/answers it states "CAN A MILD HYBRID VEHICLE DRIVE ON ELECTRIC POWER ONLY? No. The power to move the vehicle comes from the internal combustion engine." So if Nissan can't then I fail to see how a Renault or Kia can, can you provide any supporting information on this aspect at all?
  4. Agreed, but if you explore the link I posted to Renault Arkana MHEV, you will see a completely different mode of operating to what you say yours does. The MHEV does even exist in the 2024 model line up, only offers E-Tech full hybrid. Renault Arkana E-Tech full hybrid - 5-seater sport SUV seems to describe how yours is behaving, looking very much like a full hybrid. You'll need to scroll down a few pages and you will find an animated graphic with the power coming from either the battery to the motor, or from the ICE to the battery and then to the motor.
  5. Erm, No, no, no, maybe your Arkana does that, but not all MHEV's do. I had a Nissan Qashqai MHEV for 2 months and that never did, and in fact the extract that I posted was copied and pasted direct from the latest Qashqai makers website, here is the link Mild Hybrid | Mild Hybrid Car | Nissan If your Arkana is coasting, surely as a MHEV it should, once your foot has been lifted from the throttle pedal, be going into regen mode, which is counter productive to coasting. My car when it into coast mode, sets the engine at idle and disconnects the transmission so the car is proper coasting with the engine providing the power for braking (powering the vacuum servo), the instant I touch the brake pedal, the transmission is re-engaged and the car does engine braking / regen, albeit milder. If the mode is in any other mode than "ECO", then regen/engine braking is far more aggressive in its application and the car no longer coasts, foot off the gas, the car goes into engine/regen mode. However, I think the full hybrid Arkana does what you describe, but apparently the MHEV. There has to be some difference / advantages between the two systems?
  6. I actually cannot see how a MHEV can be beneficial, they are not capable of being driven for any distance whatsoever under battery power, the motive power always comes from the ICE part of the car. The only advantage that a MHEV can offer is that can allow for increases use of stop/start system when the car is stationary in traffic as the special generator/starter can send 12V from the generator to a Lithium-ion battery when regen is employed to allow the Lithium-ion battery to power the starter rather than the normal LA battery, thus the S/S system is more likely to kick more often than the S/S on a normal ICE car. Stop/Start system only normally come into their own in city traffic, so on a decent run, such as I did today, Chelmsford to Old Warden Airfield, the car was not stationary once until I arrived and parked up, thus if my car was a MEHV, today it would have been no better than a pure ICE. In reality, for the most part they are ICE and only help slightly in city traffic with loads of time spend stationary. Incidently, I achieved 60mpg today and I was not crawling along trying to hypermile at all, I was doing the national speed limit where ever possible, otherwise, I was doing the posted speed limit where indicated of 20/30 or 40mph as posted. All your questions answered HOW IS A MILD HYBRID DIFFERENT TO A STANDARD OR PLUG-IN HYBRID? CAN A MILD HYBRID VEHICLE DRIVE ON ELECTRIC POWER ONLY? No. The power to move the vehicle comes from the internal combustion engine. WHAT ARE THE COMPONENTS IN A MILD HYBRID POWERTRAIN AND HOW DO THEY WORK? Nissan's Mild Hybrid powertrain consists of a 12v Lithium-Ion battery to provide additional power while the engine is stopped. This is connected to a Belt Driven Starter Generator, allowing for two way power transfer between the engine and battery. As a result the frequency of the start/stop system is improved, engine stop durations are longer and the ability to stop the engine before the vehicle comes to a complete stop (Xtronic only). WHAT IS THE WARRANTY PERIOD FOR THE MILD HYBRID COMPONENTS?
  7. @lol-lol, I can't see how he can skew figures, he can only present the figures as they are reported and he shows his sources on the video.
  8. @JR RS does Gandalf have the bulb monitoring option installed?
  9. Yet more evidence to the contrary, fleet sales are up slightly, private sales are dropping off like flies and the combined figure is far below those for 2023, and the source of the data for both of these claims is...SMMT 🙄
  10. Exactly Westminster elite are so greedy for money that they have sold off the crown jewels, leaving just the NHS to go. We need to do take back control then so we actually own these essential services and allow farmers to grow food again. Paying them to do nothing is not an option. The other thing you mentioned was nothing but big fat lies and a smoke screen. The whole of UK is damaged, not just England.
  11. Those LEDs appear to have a higher aiming point, being roughly a whole brick course higher, have you adjusted the beam or just swapped the lamps over? If the latter, then they are unlikely to pass a annual inspection test as they are sure to dazzle on coming drivers?
  12. All of these global initiatives are all well and good if we can actually trust our neighbours not to harbour dominance for themselves over the rest of the World. Can we trust the likes of Putin, Jinping or Kim Jong Un not to stab everyone else in the back and hold the World to ransom over the raw ingredients. To say nothing about the various terrorists around the World. UK has gas, oil and electric if we can be bothered to build the means of generation and enhance the grid, but very soon will not have a steel industry because we just too short-sighted to see the benefits of being self-sufficient as much as we possibly can, the same goes for defence.
  13. It's all about keeping the gravy train coming, are we being gaslighted and falling for it?
  14. @OotohereThanks for the correction to 180,000 miles, so I gain an extra 50,000 miles, assuming I'm still here and still have the same car and able to drive 🤣, still. That being said, I was quoting what I recalled that my Skoda service garage told me, which is fair enough to assume is the right source? My belt and water pump was replaced 6,000 miles ago so I should be OK for another 14 years or so👍
  15. That used to UK specific, but is not any more, it is purely on mileage of 130,000. Things have all changed now.
  16. The timing belts used to be 5 years, that has now changed. Water pumps also used to changed when doing the timing belt, that too has been changed and according to my Skoda garage is still recommended to replaced when doing the belt, or as required. I asked the garage if that timing belt was only for the newer models, but was told no, my MK3 is included in the revision.
  17. I have had Passats that were on variable plans. They have also just readjusted the timing belt to be 130,000 miles, so maybe the service intervals have also been revised.
  18. Exactly, most drivers don't have a clue about their cars other than it works or not when they drive it, 😂. Some VW engines are on variable service intervals, so not all on time/miles servicing.
  19. Yes, when I said that it was because many of the BEV buyers are not car people at all and many seem to think that the air is actually bad when it is not. Many people it seems can be gullible, and it's those people I was thinking of. The very people who would be swayed or devious enough to process a claim through many of these companies pushing diesel compensating claims. I have not or would not press a claim, I knew what I was doing when I opted for a diesel powered car, but many just follow like sheep and do whatever the current political thinking is at the time that they purchased the car.
  20. I can't say that I'm surprised by this at all, it's my understanding that an EV can often do this kind of feat, if not always beating the range estimates, but nearing them, in city traffic in warmer weather because of all the re-gen that is occurring in such conditions?
  21. I think that most makers have their share of problems, but it is as you say, how they deal with them that matters. We have had discussions about this aspect before and it was decided, so I thought that they all will try to get away without doing anything unless they are forced to.
  22. Only the fullness of time will tell us who is/was right on the population front. However the claims do take some believing when you consider that the Government claim that they have control of our borders to kerb the immigration that we had pre "B" and graph appears to show immigrants as the reason for population growth. Looks like trying to control narrative and shift the blame onto boat people and garner support for their Rwanda flights.🙄
  23. I think it is highly likely that the list of features etc is made up from other peoples lists for all kinds of cars and the seller has copied and pasted various bits into their own, hence many parts, including the section you highlighted, is in caps where most of the rest is in lowercase.
  24. What issues are these then?
  25. Ever tried telling your bosses that they don't know sh-1t? It normally doesn't work out as great for you, so I suspect that Škoda may have subtly tried but stopped short of full-blown confrontation with the VW Senior Management / Board, for self-preservation reasons. I think Skoda started to build cars in 1905, so they have only been building cars for 119 years, still a bleeding long time.
