  1. Sorry for late reply, not been on recently... This was what I ordered... Weren't suitable for my Sportline. Ended up selling on ebay to a gent on here that had a 4x4 superb...
  2. Hi Steve, Found info I used to code my towbar on 2017 Sportline.. First, Activate the trailer control unit: On the page of installed control units, click on the red button in the bottom right and scroll down and check 69 - Trailer. This control unit will now appear on your main list. Second, you need to activate some of the options within the other control units. NB. Depending on your car’s specifications you may not have some/all of the options. For the control units you don’t have listed, you can ignore the coding change. Please take installed/coded/yes as interchangeable. 09 - central electrics (security code 31347) Long coding: hitch_ecu - change to installed 46 - Central module comfort system trailer monitoring – change to active trailer control unit – change to installed 3C - Lane Change Assist ECU for draw bar – change to with ECU for draw bar (Or Trailer control unit – change to installed) 17 - Dashboard Trailer – change to yes 6C - reverse camera system equipment_ahk/trailer detection – change to installed 74 - chassis control system Trailer – change to installed 10 or 76 - PDC controller Trailer – change to trailer device can be removed manually 13 - controller distance control (security code 20103) Control module for towing sens/Control module for trailer – change to installed A5 - front sensors driver assistance system AAG/Trailer electrics – change to coded 6D - boot lid electronics controller Trailer/controller for trailer – change to installed YELLOW - Control unit is in working condition but it is not installed in Gateway installation list. Use the Gateway list coding function to add this control unit to the Gateway installation list. Go to the gateway list and you should have a function that allows you to add new one, select 69 and add it second and easier way is go to settings and turn on auto gateway this will add all new control units for you re run scan and hopefully error gone I changed the modules I have, I.e. don't have lane assist. I had some issues, but that was due to bad wiring on reverse camera I installed at the same time. The towbar coding was pretty much as above. Can't remember where I dug this from.... possibly OBDeleven forum.
  3. Need to activate towbar module, and make a few changes to ACC, etc. I think I’ve got a guide somewhere in my computer… I’ll have a look 2moro. 👍
  4. I generally swear by the Bilstein's. Been my go to replacement on last 3/4 cars. Have a set sitting in a box here that were on the superb.... found to be incompatible with Sportline model. so be sure to cross check part numbers. So, now have KYB on, they are OK, harsher than Bilstein's. Yeah, simple enough job at the back, all done in the arch. 👍
  5. Minefield! I can’t get my head around how many different part no’s there are for these shocks… final spanner on my side is the rear originals not matching the part no’s worked out from my build sheet… I’m going to order the KYB’s and keep everything crossed they suit! Not getting anywhere matching up to a set of B4’s. Hopefully I can sell the ones I have, to try and recoup some money!
  6. Although can get a set of 4 KYB’s that match OEM numbers for less than £200 on eBay with discount code just now… not sure how KYB compare to Bilstein.. been my go to for replacements the last few cars…
  7. Well heard back from Bilstein this last couple of days… strange response, I’m sure there has to be a few people on here with sportline model that have fitted B6’s or B8’s… I’m lost as what direction to head in… approaching the supplier of the shocks appears like a poss non-starter especially as they are advertised on Bilstein as fitting all models! my current plan is to see if I can find a matching set of OE shocks from a Passat, or something else similar as a possible way to matching up to a more suitable set of B4’s.
  8. Thanks Carlston, I got all my build codes last night, yeah significantly more than the sticker has in the boot. Too add to that, my 2017 car does have a sticker in the boot (it's a 09/16 build). I managed to decode between my build code and the original long list of part codes you posted first that I have.... 5Q0411105HD Coil spring 1 paint mark 1 paint mark brown white 2 PR-L17 3Q0413031BG Gas shock absorber D >> - 29.07.2018 2 PR-G02 3Q0511115T Coil spring 2 PR-1JC+0YB 3Q0513049FP Gas shock absorber rear 2 PR-1JC 3Q0513049FN Gas shock absorber rear 2 PR-1JC Guessing the rear shocks can be either of the 2 part no.s... I've started a communication with Bilstein, hopefully they will come back to me asap. With a confirmation of these B4's not been suitable, and a better recommendation if required... In the meantime, going to review old shocks & try and find paint mark/numbers on springs to confirm all of these... Cheers.
  9. thanks @Carlston, for the detailed response. I’ve purchased a vin decoder.. so see what that comes back with. Assume this is more info than the sticker in the boot? regards the B4 shocks, I have read your post within this thread on this… last night before posting my query today. The shocks I purchased are the only B4 standard shocks offered on Bilsteins website…. so, once I have the info to identify standard shocks, I will review the post you had up. Bit worried/confused why Bilstein wouldn’t offer the Passat shocks you identified as a fitment against the superb. Looking like this is going to be a costly issue if it is the shocks that are an issue /mis-fitment… I checked these shocks against Bilstein, autodoc, and a post on the forum that stated them as a fitment for the superb…. I’ll update post with anything found out… resolution for my dodgy handling… 🙈 fitting B4’s was supposed to be the more cost efficient/sensible ‘it’s just a box for getting A to B’ option, rather than paying twice the price for B6’s or konis!
  10. Hi Folks, Wonder if any of you can point me in the right direction.... I have a 2017 150 diesel Sportline, have recently replaced the shocks with B4 replacements. The car is at 60k, and the handling was becoming dangerous!! The shocks have now been fitted for ~600 miles, but the feel is not 100%. I had the alignment checked in the first instance... but it was just needing one minor adjustment to correct. Feels like the car is not as planted as it should be, still bounces uncomfortably at slow speeds through town/rough roads. Country roads the car feels much better with the new shocks at 40-60 mph, through a rough bend is not such a concern anymore, the support is greatly improved.... The slow speed discomfort is now the issue... I feel my rear springs may need replaced. The crashy/unspottedness seems to be from the rear more than the front. Struggling to nail down how to confirm the springs I need. This seems like it would be the next step to try and improve the ride.... On a side note, I have fitted a towbar to the car when bought at 45k, so the rear has had more load for around 5/600 miles of the last 15k. Wouldn't have expected that to cause issues with the springs, but maybe the standard ones aren't capable enough of the extra load. (Although just occasional use - with a 1-1.5t trailer (60/70kg nose weight)) I note reading some posts with regards cars with factory towbar's possibly having uprated springs. If anyone can point me in the right direction to confirm standard replacement springs, or alternatively a more suitable spring to compensate for the occasional towing? I don't believe I need a hugely stronger spring, as the car spends most of its time lightly loaded.... Just the 5/6 times away with family in the year full with gear (often with bikes on the towbar) and occasional towing single axle trailer at 1.5t max. Many thanks for any help Marc
  11. I had issues fitting a towbar to my Sportline. Couldn't engage the detachable bar. Beam was to far up in the bumper. (Bumper too far down?) Up until that point I didn't think there was any difference between bumpers either! Returned, cost me the return postage! 😒 Then purchased Oris/Bosal detachable from another supplier who confirmed for sure it would fit!
  12. Hi Langers2k, apologies, I may have been a bit hasty with my post…. Today I have been away in the car and the camera worked! 🙈 I’m guessing something needed a reset… for the benefit of others, in OBDII I changed the following. Added 6c to gateway list. (I did this while trying to resolve problems in my previous post with towbar wiring at same time, maybe it would go in automatically….) Long coding option in 6c and look for Byte19_rear_Viev_low and change the options to Activated. then module 76 and with the same long coding you look for the camera type option. (pinched from another post, credit kacluk in ‘Reversing camera install’ thread.) I still have the 2 faults, should I be expecting just the basic settings fault? Would like to get it calibrated, note you did it on your Octavia, I wonder if anyone has the gear to do it up in Scotland… I can print a VAS6530 board at my work…. 🤔👍 my next plan is to double check the activation I did for the towbar wiring, I have a feeling I have activated something I shouldn’t have giving this extra fault… although it was not showing until the camera was wired in yesterday. cheers Marc
  13. Apologies if the no basic settings fault is related to the camera not being calibrated only…. I had read about this previously but forgot while posting! 🙈
  14. Hey folks, Didn’t want to start another topic on Reverse cameras! I have went with this camera that AIVal went for, I have had some issues with installation, and wonder if anyone else has had similar issues and can point me in the right direction to resolve. The Can+/- wires seemed to be wrongly wired in the new plug that is integrated into the back of the multimedia unit, so that was not a great start… see my post here… 😬 I now have the camera wired in correctly (swapped existing wires into new plug) and have done the coding suggested using OBD11, but unfortunately I still have no camera! 🙈 I have a No basic setting fault in 6c module. And I guess linked to this a Data bus (additional installations detected) fault in 19. I wonder if this camera does not have the correct settings for the superb? But note AIVal seems to have gone for the same one, with no problems. I have a pre facelift Superb, with Columbus MIB2 I believe… 17 plate. Many thanks for any help.
  15. Hey ApertureS, thanks for info. Apologies, for delay in coming back to you. I got another look at the car Monday night, decided to disconnect all the wiring for the camera. Once I removed the coding that I had done for the camera, I am back to being fault free. So seems the tow bar wiring is ok. 🙏 I think there might be something wrong with the wiring I have for the camera, which I guess would explain the faulting modules when there was nothing changed in them. The wires removed from the back of the media unit to merge the camera in, appear to swap colour when linked back in…. Going to put a post in some of the camera chats and see if anyone has seen something similar… need to get the time to have a good look through these posts…. but for now, I thankfully have a fault free car, it’s going in for a new starter button Friday, so that’s a relief! cheers
  16. Hey ApertureS. Thanks for reply, yeah, I do seem to be tangled up a bit here… and am now seeing the shortcomings of obd11. I used vcds around 10 years ago, but it lapsed and I was struggling to justify buying the new version when I went for the obd11 year ago or so, normally just basic code reading with a few minor changes. Until now has served me well… I've had another go through modules… and have managed to get no lights on dash, so at least I am making baby steps in the right direction. 😬 took the car out and ACC is working as it should. I activated ‘control module for towing sensor’ in module 13. Still showing faults during scan though. 13 Adaptive Cruise Control System description: ACC BOSCH MQB Software number: 3Q0907572B Software version: 0194 Hardware number: 3Q0907572B Hardware version: H04 ODX name: EV_ACCBOSCHVW48X ODX version: 001009 Long coding: 2A00608A51FFC428949C8045 Trouble codes: U112100 - Databus missing message static Date: 2021-08-21 18:52:38 Mileage: 75105 km Priority: 6 Malfunction frequency counter: 1 Unlearning counter: 229 Dynamic environmental data: 028D5C02857A1011000010120000102E00 U112100 - Databus missing message static Date: 2021-08-21 18:52:38 Mileage: 75105 km Priority: 6 Malfunction frequency counter: 1 Unlearning counter: 229 Dynamic environmental data: 028D5C02857A1011000010120000102E00 U112100 - Databus missing message static Date: 2021-08-21 18:52:38 Mileage: 75105 km Priority: 6 Malfunction frequency counter: 1 Unlearning counter: 229 Dynamic environmental data: 028D5C02857A1011000010120000102E00 17 Dashboard System description: KOMBI Software number: 3V0920911A Software version: 8311 Hardware number: 3V0920911A Hardware version: 304 ODX name: EV_DashBoardVDDMQBAB ODX version: 009051 Long coding: 27A501122F80A60001886B011000000000000000 Trouble codes: U111000 - Function restriction due to communication interruption static Date: 2021-08-21 18:52:43 Mileage: 75105 km Priority: 6 Malfunction frequency counter: 1 Unlearning counter: 229 U111000 - Function restriction due to communication interruption static Date: 2021-08-21 18:52:43 Mileage: 75105 km Priority: 6 Malfunction frequency counter: 1 Unlearning counter: 229 U111000 - Function restriction due to communication interruption static Date: 2021-08-21 18:52:43 Mileage: 75105 km Priority: 6 Malfunction frequency counter: 1 Unlearning counter: 229 --------------------------------------------------------------- 19 Gateway System description: GW MQB High Software number: 5Q0907530AM Software version: 2265 Hardware number: 5Q0907530M Hardware version: 212 Serial number: 15081610803317 ODX name: EV_GatewConti ODX version: 013020 Long coding: 030100045F087300EB00025A080F00010001070000000000000000000000 Subsystems: System description: J367-BDMHella Software version: 9070 Hardware version: H10 Serial number: 7149001104 System description: E221__MFL-PR6 Software version: 0150 Hardware version: H02 Serial number: 000000000D0171290616 Trouble codes: U104C00 - Rearview camera system control module No communication static Date: 2021-08-21 18:52:42 Mileage: 75105 km Priority: 2 Malfunction frequency counter: 5 Unlearning counter: 230 Supply voltage, terminal 30: 12.3 V Terminal 15: On U105400 - Information electronics control module 1 No Communication static Date: 2021-08-21 18:52:42 Mileage: 75105 km Priority: 2 Malfunction frequency counter: 5 Unlearning counter: 230 Supply voltage, terminal 30: 12.3 V Terminal 15: On My main issue/worry now is the multimedia unit does not turn on/off with ignition, and most functions are not operational. I can access 6c or 5f which I think is causing me the issues… cheers for help
  17. Hey ApertureS. I have OBDII, OBDeleven. I’ve double checked the wiring for the camera, and all looks good. The tow bar wiring is a bit deeper, but as mentioned I have lights working, so thinking this is ok. I have a before scan, and have taken one after with all the faults. Not sure what and admap file is? fault codes are…. But I could not access this module to follow the full instructions. I will pull the instructions / what I changed tomorrow and post. cheers.
  18. Hi folks, I have a 2017 hatch sportline, fancied a reverse camera, but decided I would install at the same time as a proper wiring kit for tow bar (7 pin). I have both kits fully wired up now, but have a lot of issues! Not sure if I can code them all out or not… I have OBDII. the tow bar wiring is working, I.e. light board works fine. but there is nothing showing camera is operational, my park assist is totally disabled. Although I note from moving the car, that the sensors are operational, just no display. My infotainment unit seems to be dimmer than usual, and i can’t access anything in car settings menu, I.e. tyre presssures, etc. lots of fault codes, when trying to code everything in, I seemed to be missing some of the modules detailed in the guides. Not sure if this is a discrepancy between vcds and OBDII… anyone experience doing either of these installs with OBDII can help me out at all? My first direction tomorrow is to in-wire the camera, and see if I can get everything cleared back to usual with just the tow bar wiring installed. (Hoping this is ok due to lights operating as should….🤞) many thanks for any help Marc
  19. Cheers, sorry my post maybe was misleading, I took the ones as not being suitable possibly because of the changes to bumper over a standard model? I do recall having a few minor issues fitting the bar to our old Octavia VRS. I.e. bumper cut/clearances. I’m looking for a detachable one this time, so assuming access point of ball may be effected by the sportline bumper… 🤔 Last one I fitted was to our golf vii, this came with a bypass kit, I.e. wire into rear lights (canbus, only 3 wires if I recall correctly.) , assume this can be done again, but I do plan to put the proper loom in this time and have coded. Mainly for the rear sensors…. 👍 main use is bike carrier on my car, with a couple of dozen local trailer runs in the year. No long distance journeys/caravan, but never know…. 😉
  20. Waiting on collecting a 2017 sportline superb, would be interested in buying one of the bars mentioned here... From my research, appears some of them aren’t suitable for the sportline though... 🤔
