Saw an article on one fitted to a MkII golf owned by C&R Enterprises and they said it was a bloody good idea, which it seemed to be. Now, i've spoken to Skoda UK who said that it's not available to the UK market because it's only for left hand drive cars, ie. mainland european market, but I fail to see what mechanical difference it would make to fit this to either type of car as the gearchange mechanism is surely gonna be the same on both, and all it would mean is that the keyhole sits next to the driver instead of the passenger in this country?

Can anyone else explain what problems there might be cos if it's innexpensive it seems like such a saleable optional extra that Skoda are missing out on? And for a reason I just don't get??

They should sell Anti Car thief High Voltage steering wheels too... 25,000 volts should do it.

Use an inverter then. Plugs into the 12v line. Mains current back at ya!

Maybe some one with one could post a few pics the the gaiter removed. Mine certainly looks like it's got the mounting points for one to be retro fitted...

I'm pretty sure that auto transmission locks "have" to be or "had" to be fitted to cars supplied to certain countries. IIRC Saudi Arabia was one of the main countries where you had to have one of these, but i'm sure someone will have the facts, but one for a manual tranmission is interesting! No use for SWMBO, she would just treat the car like an auto with only gear:rofl:

Sure I've seen it as a dealer option, but not factory.

I asked Skoda UK re this in 2006 and was told it was not an option for UK

Snap - I win!

Completely irrelevant, but a Saab I once had, you locked the car in reverse gear. The ignition switch was down by the gear lever. I always thought it was a good idea.
