Parking sensor adjustment?

Featured Replies

Getting to be a habit posting on here!

Is there any way of adjusting the distance on the parking sensors? I took a test drive on friday and reversed up twice to see how it all worked (bit new to me this!), and both times I stopped when it flatlined and was about 12-18 inches away from the car/wall behind me. This is fine, but occasionally i may need to get into a VERY tight space and it won't actually be telling me how far i've realistically got left. In the 15 years i've driven i've not needed it but I get the impression it'll nag at me as i'm trying to park up the old fashioned way: with mirrors.

Ideally if it's gonna be useful, i'd like it to flatline when i've got about 4-6 inches left as this will make the shunting bit easier. Anyone know a way to do this as Skoda are fairly sure it can't be done, but not 100%? Seems a bit namby-pamby and cotton-wool safety dressing otherwise.:thumbdwn:

Cheers,

Matt

anyone???:(

Just checked with Vagcom, and there doesn't seem to be any adjustment - at least if there is it is undocumented.

BTW mine flatlines at 10 inches.

VAGCOM adaptation has this for sure.. i could see the distance calibration numbers.. looked like they can be adjusted but not sure. never tried it.

You can view the distance in MBV, however not sure if you can adjust it. Dont think so.

I think it's set at the amount so that you allow sufficient space for somone else to manouvre out from behind you.

meah I want it to scream at me an inch off hitting something, wishfull thinking i know

Gives you 10 inches so you can open the boot ;)

Yeah, fair enough, but surely it makes more sense to have it flatline when it's VERY close, that way you know you're getting in the space adequately: you can always pull forward a few inches once you're in if you need to?!

Does anyone know definitively cos i'd REALLY like the dealer I pick the car up from to do this before I get there if it is possible?

It's hard coded into many manufacturers radar controlers, so suspect the answer will be no it cannot be adjusted.

Which block? I couldn't find it.

After the continous tone just keep reversing and listen for the very audable thump/smash...

They must have to allow for different driver reaction times. We all know people who, if it was set too small a distance, would hit the brakes when their rear bumper was level with the car behind's gear lever.

So you've had the pleasure of being in my sisters car as well!?

I don't think so, but when I'm to be a passenger with certain friends I always take a strong sedative first.
