disabling the alarm on my new fabia?

Featured Replies

Hi

Have just bought the new Fabia estate 1.9tdi 3 - having had my Fabia estate 19.tdi Elegance written off by a white van man shooting out of a side street into me... Don't think the new one is anything like as high a specification as the last, but that's a whole other subject.

Right now I've got the dog in my car at work and every time said dog shifts position, the alarm goes off and its driving me nuts :eek:not to mention everyone I work with AND the dog.

Since I accidently left the car handbook at my dad's 200 miles away, I'm unable to look it up myself, so please can anyone help me out and tell me how to disable the alarm so I don't have to switch if off remotely zillions of times a day with my keyfob when I've got the dog in the car ??

Many thanks

Right now you are locking the vehicle and activating the safe securing system - ie deadlocking the doors - which is NOT recommended for safety reasons if there are people or pets in the vehicle. You can deactivate the safe securing system by locking the vehicle with the key or radio-operated remote key twice within 2 seconds. The warning light next to the securing knob on the driver's door will not then flash.

That's what it says in the Owner's Manual. However I have just tried it in my 2007 vRS and it doesn't work, ie the light flashes and the alarm goes off!

Two clicks disables the internal sensors and deadlocks on my 53 plate vRS. Though that is the opposite to what the dealer told me after I bought the car.

Thanks for your help - I'll give it another go. I r emember that with my 03 Fabia you had to press the remote key twice in quick succession but so far this has not worked to deactivate the alarm with my 08 new style Fabia estate...

IIRC there is red button roughly in the center of the drivers door panel that has something to do with it. Could be wrong though.
