Anti Roll bar noises!

Featured Replies

Hi guys sorry if this has been gone over once, but i've been reading for ages now and just getting confused.

I have an 03 Octy VRS - with one hell of a creaking noise from the front - Dealer tells me it's the ARB bushes and £269 to replace.. but i'm trying to sell the car.. not looking to put anyone's safety at risk but having just spent 600 this month all ready on a service and locking motor i feel enoughs enough.. are their any after market bushes that would fit my standard arb?

I've tried dowsing in Wd40 but it makes no difference to the noise.. annoyed to hell this isnt a recall by Skoda..

Whats the cheapest way to get this noise to STFU so i can sell the car =)

Cheers lots

Try washing up liquid, we used to use this to put bushes in when i was on the line at Cowley (Rover)

Paid £140 fitted for a neuspeed one with new bushes

Likelihood is that the plastic sleeves that are part of the antirollbar have split and possibly corroded the bar inside them, this is what makes the creaking noise.

Break off the plastic sleeves then replace the ARB bushes with OE 19mm TT ARB bushes running directly on the bar with some silicone grease lubricant.

It costs you the price of a pair of TT ARB bushes and a bit of time to fit them.

i do believe my right hand ARB bush has gone today as the clunking has appeared that sounds exactly the same as my old FTO when they went.

I have read lots about the 'plastic sleeve' on early Octy 1's, from what year did this get changed as i need to know what i am changing? i.e just buying some powerflex bushes or needed to replace the bushes, clamps, & bar which i don't particularly want to budget for as it's an every day driver for the mrs!

Thanks in advance!
